>trying to win civil rights through peaceful activism won't work>but trying to win them through more violent means is morally wrong and also won't workThis plotline really wasn't very well thought-out
>>150983925And the domestic abuser somehow believed that joining the al-Qaeda / genocidal terrorist group was somehow put them ahead of everyone else but he was a psychopath who wanted to be the supremacist more so than to be equal.
>>150983925>what happens when white guys from Texas try to write about civil rights allegory plotline
>>150983925The moral of the story is that you should never challenge the deliberately unfair status quo that is designed to screw you over. You should just accept that you weren't lucky enough to be born a winner.
It is like the X-Men. You can't win, but if you compromise your beliefs enough you can break even.

Honestly, I think it might have worked better if there was some kind of assertive but nonviolent middle ground that was shown to get results, much like how civil disobedience and targeted economic pressure worked wonders during the real-life Civil Rights Movement.
>>150984069Never heard the concept of revolutions?
>>150984069Yes, in reality most "oppressed" people are worthless scum who deserve it
>>150983925>>150983969I mean, yeah. The Civil Rights Era was a fight over whether you're legally allowed to have pattern recognition. The FBI killed MLK because he wanted to keep going after nearly starting a second civil war.
>>150983925Man that is one ugly woman.
>>150983925>and also won't workIt did work tho
>>150983925>>150984934It's pressure strategy that works. Purely non-violent activism won't do much without widespread agreement - in which case the activism is really just accelerating wider social trends - or the ability to leverage economic pain on otherwise neutral parties but not in a way that catalyzes them against you. Violence can work, but it also can just as easily solidify opposition to your interests, put neutral or mildly aligned third parties in your opponent's camp, risk co-option or corruption of your movement by outside actors needed to sustain the conflict, can split your movement, and active conflict can continue for decades without meaningful change. Therefore, your best action is always peaceful activism with a cohesive and comprehensive economic strategy with the assertion that you're the best option because the alternative is open conflict.
