Why isn’t this show available on HBO Max? And yes, it’s /co/-related since it’s based on comics
>>

Think it had an official cartoon
>>
The rights to the show, the Crypt Keeper character, and the original EC Comics are complicated and held by different entities, making it difficult to clear all the necessary rights for a streaming release.
>>
>>150988497
It should all be under the Warner umbrella: DC bought EC and the show was made for HBO.

To think we now need to add shit like that otherwise a certain anon might have a melty...

Tales from the Cryptkeeper. I think it was my first ever experinece with a horror anthology, before Goosebumps and even Are You Afraid of the Dark? (not saying it came first, but the order in which I watched them).

Loved it, specially Season 2 when Vaultkeeper and Old Witch joined the cast.
>>
>>150988488
Yeah it was great
>>
>>150988828
great intro

I love how much this was promoted to kids with stuff like trading cards; I watched an episode late at night and it was the one where the guy gets his eyes torn out by the vultures on screen. Didn't sleep all night because of that.
>>
binge culture killed comic and tv anthologies
>>
>>150988828
I remember it sort of sucking? I know they wanted to keep it safe for kids but it seemed to go overboard iirc. Always happy endings which I guess is expected but also, not even scary at any point. I could be wrong though, I guess i probably only saw a couple episodes. Stuff like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark were also for kids but did have scares.

I saw the movie demon knight in theaters the other night. It was really good actually billy zane as the demon was the best character

I remember hearing about Bordello of Blood and asking my mom what a bordello was, lol
>>
>>150991428
Legit good film. I first saw it when I was like 5, stuck in my head the rest of my life.
>>
>>150991428
It was on tv here last weekend, this weekend they're playing Bordello of Blood. Damn, the villain in that one is hot.

Its the best of the 3 but not as good as the show

I just watched the Jessica Harper episode and it was really good. Need to find more in better quality. It was, before HBOs prestige heyday, such an odd, lurid bit of entertainment that really sorta stood alone. I remember parents and aunts and uncles and such not really knowing what to make of it.

Demon Knight scared me so bad I developed a phobia to zombie movies and possession. Goofy shit like the Walking Dead actually terrified me. Watching it again as an adult broke my phobia.
>>
>>150988472
Watch “Oils We’ll That Ends Well”. Had the actor who played the Crypt Keeper in it as a bad guy.
>>
>>150991924
What are the best episodes of the show? I saw the ventriloquist dummy episode years back and loved it
>>150992201
>phobia of possession
Lol i had that when i was a kid because i was in a catholic household and my mom was very satanic panicy and would always bring up the exorcist

There were some horror endings in the cartoon. I remember one where a nosy reporter is murdered and turned into a Frankenstein monster in a town of Frankenstein people. There was also one where two boys try to escape their town full of monsters only to realize that they're video game characters in a game for monsters.

I gotta rewatch Bordello, I only really remember the montage of them ripping guys hearts out.

>>150991924
Didn't even know about Ritual lol.

I would not say it was too safe, but rather the scares clearly got toned down by it being animation instead of live-action.
>Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark
Take the Ghost from "The Tale of the Dead Man's Float" (pic related) as an example, you definitely had creatures of similar design in Tales from the Cryptkeeper, but the impact of seeing them in animated format is different to live-action.

>Always happy endings which I guess is expected
There were a few twist endings, and to be fair, AYAOFD was also mostly happy endings. Goosebumps is the one that became (in)famous for always having some sick twist ending.

There are also the ones with the abusive uncle ending up as "canned human", the Medusa one, and also the jungle hunter.
Then there are those were the episode's secondary or "human" antagonist getting the horror ending (like the Nearderthal, or the Wax Museum), instead of the MC.

I have the whole series on DVD, thank goodness. Physical media wins again. It's a shame only 5 1/5 of the seasons are actually good, instead of the whole thing. Half of 6 is kinda lame and 7 completely awful. What happened there? Why did sending it to Britain immediately turn it to shit?

Demon Knight is excellent.
>>
>>150992238
He also was Buster Bunny in the last couple of episodes of Tiny Toons and Raymundo in Rocket Power.
>>
>>150993004
He was also the original (and best) voice of Zombozo in Ben 10 (too bad he only got to voice him once).

I like the one with the family of Tim Currys bullying that salesman.
