Heart is right to question her life, and the correct choice is to go back to not caring about Star Wars.

when you feel like the world is unfair just look at that shit to confirm it.

It's inoffensive, but such a shift from everything the original did, that it really should have been its own thing, not a continuation of the world Tatulli made.

this is the newspaper comic most in need of a writing team so I guess I am for this

>a shitty Tumblr slop comic gets a tv show

Watch it be even more beanmouthish and look cheap as fuck and visually garbage like Deadendia. It’s funny cause these showrunners bitch and whine when their Tumblr comic based shows get cancelled cause it’s "disrespectful" to them or something when the fact that the network greenlit their garbage in the first place is "disrespectful" cause they’ve only greenlit it cause beanmouth shit is cheap slop easy to produce, they basically know their arts shit but they’re too retarded to realize that.
>>
>>150991393
Classic Heart had a hotter mom, but sure, let's see where this goes.
>>
>>150991854

>>150993984

If you've ever been in the Sunday Funnies threads on Sunday, you'd know that the comic is constantly panned for being shit. Bad writing, bad art, sometimes it gets REALLY lazy by making the Sunday comic a crossword puzzle or a maze. The worst offense is how much of an ass pull it is compared to the original Heart of the City that Mark Tattuli created.
>>
>>150994644

What makes it an ass-pull?

I suggest you don't get hopes up for an upcoming show until there are several promotional art or animation sample. You'll risk looking forward to a show that's dead in production and it hurts.
>>
>>150991801
No, /co/ overhates it quite a bit. But it goes from being one of the better Sunday strips to mediocre drivel, which is a harder fall than say, Nancy. It barely even resembles the original so I think if it were its own thing /co/ wouldn't bat an eye.
>>
Someone post the Sunday strip where she strips naked in front of her mom (original Tatulli Heart, not the new one).

That's an example of lame joke , but here's an example it can be funny. But the majority of steenz strips are very underwhelming or attempts at new age slice of life pieces. So I'm not optimistic it will be very good

I tried to like the switch over, but as someone who read the original version and could tell Mar was getting tired near the end, I liked the age up and stuff he did, but I just couldn't get into the Nu Heart. I can see why Schulz and his family didn't want Peanuts to continue without him.

No he aged them up years before that in 2018. He got rid of Heart's Tutu a few years earlier then he added a skirt for the start of middle school era. There was also an increase of fantasy sequences.

Are you FUCKING shitting me?! Off all the comic strips that could be adapted into something at least entertaining, they took the worst one!?

>>150991801
It's ungodly boring and low effort, even by newspaper strip standards. There's weekly Sunday strip threads here and it's usually a fun time, but you can see how Heart tends to be a buzzkill there more often than not. It's a newspaper tar pit.
>>
>>150997312
You could honestly see Tatulli could do it anymore.
He lost the Heart for it.

Mark tatulli decided to retire from heart of city, the syndication publisher found a new cartoonist for the title who goes by steenz. This was in 2020, they told fans that it will be a new comic with a new style, but the same name. Cause syndication purposes. Mark still creates lio which is a newspaper comic, and it is good.

In summary:
>Original creator, Mark Tatulli, created Heart of the City for 22 years
>Wanted to quit the strip and focus on his other, more successful comic, Lio and other kidlit projects
>Andrews McMeel, the publisher of the comic, owns the rights to Heart of the City
>Made the decision to either put the comic in reruns or get a new artist to take over
>They decided it was best to get a new artist to take over Heart
>Andrews McMeel chose Christina "Steenz" Stewart to take over
>Gave her practically free reign to reboot the strip into her vision
>Has been going on for 5 years now
What's even sad is that Steenz's version of Heart has more book collections than Tatulli's version. He only had one book collection made, meaning more than 20 years of his work is lost media.
>>
>>151009853
There are strips in the book that aren't even on the GoComics website. It hate it when art is treated like something so disposable.
>>
>>151009846
>>151009853
I don't understand why they didn't just make a whole new comic at that point if there's nothing that ties it to the original besides names
>>
>>151010350
Like >>151009853 said the publisher had the option to either use re-runs or have a new creator use the title. Which, if I'm remembering correctly, boils down to contracts the publisher made for syndication in each distributor to run the title for the length agreed upon, and I'm assuming the publisher found it more profitable to opt out of paying mark for reruns and instead launched the title( the rights of which they own) under a new cartoonist. Basically it all comes down to money, but another huge factor in regard to newspaper comics, is space. There are not spots open and any that would are long reserved, so don't create a new comic but use an existing IP and the rebrand it, since they own it. And they also own basically all of them. But I could be wrong about this.
>>
>>151010350
>be Andrews McMeel
>Heart of the City is a successful comic running in syndication in x number of newspapers
>the original creator wants to stop
>do you:
>retire the strip and have to sell a new comic papers they might not even want, which you'll probably have to spend on marketing and publicity to convince them to pick up
>keep the strip going under the same name and keep all your syndication contracts in place, even if it is for all intents and purposes a completely new comic
They chose the latter option and for a business POV it's understandable why, even if from an artistic POV it's kinda shitty.
>>
>>151010553
>And they also own basically all of them. But I could be wrong about this.
Heart of the City came out at a time when the syndicate would own your comic, but in recent years that's been overturned to where the artists now own their comic and characters, they just distribute it and manage licensing. Ironically, despite how much /co/ likes to pit them against each other, it was Bill Watterson, Jim Davis, and Charles Schulz that fought for those rights for the newspaper artists.

Crazy how many heavy hitting comic strips they have under them, while King Features only focuses on promoting Popeye and Flash Gordon. Do you have a list off all comics under King Features?

Though I did find out Andrews McMeel stopped syndicating new comics because they keep trying to sell their old ones.
