>>150991661When done right it's goodWhen done wrong it's obnoxious
>>150991661All of the are cute shotas and deserve love.
>>150991661For me, it's Toy Story.
>>150991661A random anon would say>man, that's some bullshit. But for me, is okay. I like the inspired anime style from french shows.
>Western cartoon: Anime style of drawingSHIT, SHIT, SHIT, utter SHIT, derivative ugly copy>Western cartoon: Anime style of animationpushing the art form forward, a conoisseur's choice
>>150991713Picrel isn’t
>>150991851I meant that the OP doesn’t fit your first description
>>150991661Trash
>>150991661a bit contrived>t. likes three of those shows in the thumbnail
>>150992388Wrong
>>150991661Poison.
>>150991661Worked then, but don't do it now
>>150991661Never cared for anime, let alone fake anime.
>>150991661Teen Titans is the peak of anime inspired American cartoons.

>>150991661It's fine because (and this is the part that weebs and toonfags hate to hear) animation always influences each other.
>>150991661If you just imitate the surface you'll get a shitty cargo cult.If you make a serious effort in understanding the inner workings, you'll get a better cartoon.
>>150991667>>150991706Basically this. When done right it can be pretty awesome, but when done wrong (which happens in most cases unfortunately), it is just embarrassing and annoying. That being said, all three examples in OPs image are good. There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking inspiration in anime. Art takes inspiration from many different sources, and anime themselves were inspired by old western cartoons, and some modern ones are also inspired by western stuff. Panty & Stocking, for example, seems to have taken some inspiration from PPG/Dexter's Lab/other cartoon cartoons.
>>150993190>If you just imitate the surface you'll get a shitty cargo cult.>If you make a serious effort in understanding the inner workings, you'll get a better cartoon.Yes, absolutely this. the results are awful when you just copy it at a shallow, surface level. You need to understand what makes the thing you are taking inspiration from great, rather than just mimicking something half-assedly.
I thought it was going to be the way of the future.I thought that the popularity of anime in the '90s influencing cartoons in the '00s was going to be an ongoing trend that would have continued in the '10s.I was resistant to it at first. But, now I kind of wish that more cartoons were done like this.At any rate I am believer that writing counts for more than style. So, that's what I'd prefer over the anime aesthetic.
