For me? It was probably seeing 9/11 happen on September 11th 2001. To make it /co/-related, I distinctly remember Hey Arnold playing that morning.

Such an image of real life. The tall white handsome guy always gets the girl that the short deformed autistic boy does.

My 9/11 moment was the last episode of Dinosaurs. The show ends with the dinosaurs just dying and going extinct. The last line in the series is the news reporter saying "good night and goodbye."

It's just way too dark to have a kid's show about extinction. S22WS

I wasn't a child, but part of me died when Arthur went to flash animation. The show was never movie-quality or anything, but the original animation was literally one million times better than this soulless tweened slop.

Moreso, it represents a change in animation style for cartoons in general that I fucking despise to this day. If you watch cartoons from the 90s, they're far from perfect, but at least they look like a human being created them. Modern cartoons are entirely lifeless down to the backgrounds.

While it's more /tv/ than /co/, for me, it's The WB's Night of Favorites and Farewells (coincidently happening 5 years and 6 days after 9/11).

I was still a toddler when The WB signed off one final time, but the fact The WB had the balls to do one proper send-off is too much for me. This is especially the case with Kids WB as I started watching the block during the final season, which was basically the end of an era for the block with only a few good shows and canadian and foreign slop.

I actually don't, my mom tried to change the channel to Nickelodeon and I just remember the intro playing. I immediately changed it back, Lived on the West Coast at the time so school wasn't open yet and I got to see it live. They actually tried to send us to school that day but parents were calling their kids out and I remember it only lasted like 2 hours lol.

>>150995304
Its a good teaching moment. Saving or helping someone =/= they owe you a romantic relationship.

Not learning that lesson is how you become an incel complaining about how no women want to fuck you despite how much of 'a nice guy' you are, like its a transaction.

Due to a hilarious misunderstanding I watched the 9/11 coverage at school and laughed when the plane hit the tower.
I was in a history class at the time so I assumed it was taped historical footage rather than live events. Since I knew the World Trade Center still existed I assumed the whole thing was no big deal.

Shortly after we were all pulled out of our classrooms and told to go home early. They were all being far too solemn to actually explain anything, so I went home completely oblivious and psyched for the sudden day off school.
I went home and watched cartoons.

i've heard the business card argument, but why the fuck couldn't they use the existing capital letters and font? why did they have to make it lowercase? it's like they did it out of spite

The episode was Sid's Revenge / Roller Coaster
It finished airing on the east coast slightly over 15 minutes before the first plane hit, which was during the Rugrats episode that aired immediately after.
Since OP was on west coast it would have have been the 3 hour delay west coast feed, so at least 30 minutes after both towers fell

Not sure exactly if its OP's intended meaning but probably something like Avatar season 2's finale where Zuko chose Azula's side after all the buildup and the good guys getting utterly btfo. Left me with a "damn really?" feeling when it first aired.

Seems quaint these days. Sure he doesn't get with her, but he's still ultimately a good person and sympathetic. Now let's compare that with the current trend where there's this irrational hatred for any male character and they go extreme lengths to make them as pathetic as possible.

Was in 7th or 8th grade during 9/11. I remember they had the dodgeball episode for Dexter's Lab that night, which I always found funny because they managed to get a 'swear' word in it. I think the M for Monkey episode was the one with Randy Savage.

A lot of women were upset with the ending too. Granted it wasn't just about "hero doesn't get the girl" when the internet started bitching about this ending.
Aside from the dark themes, one thing that really had people interested in Hunchback was that this was when Disney was catching flack for "ugly people bad, pretty people good" so when Quasi didn't get the girl, people took it as some kind of sign that Disney wasn't willing to let the "ugly" character have a love interest. Remember Shrek came out only a few years later. The 'controversy' was moreso the times than anything. People wanted to be edgy and counter-cultural even if 'getting the girl' would ignore the core thematic "shadow" between Quasi and Frollo.
>>
>>151003996
I want to sit down the people that are upset by the movie's ending and read them the actual novel. Disney did their disney thing and HEAVILY lightened up the story, it's about as wish fulfilling as that kind of story's gonna get.

They’re not the only one. 5 year-old me was annoyed that all of his morning cartoons before kinder weren’t on and instead kept showing footage of burning towers and planes flying into them. Then at kinder our teacher told us to draw ‘what you see during a normal day’ and also refused to answer or talk about anything related to 9/11 when some of us asked why them and their parents were “acting weird” and the “weird television channels” (neither did any of the other assistant staff). None of us had been told what anything we’d seen on TV was so we all drew what we saw on it and used our imaginations to fill in the blanks (in my case two burning towers, fire trucks and a man jumping out of one whilst on fire). Naturally we all got screamed at by her to make us all start crying enough that the bakery next door called the police on the kinder. Kinder was cancelled for the day after that. The only other thing I remember was the one of the other kid’s mums shouting at her afterwards “Why didn’t you tell them about what happened today?”, to which she said “Why didn’t any of you do your fucking jobs as parents?!” and the police agreeing with her. Found out later that she her sister, brother-in-law and niece were supposed to have been in NY and the WTC at that time but weren’t there because the niece had gotten sick and they’d chosen to stay in Florida.

I was 17 so technically a child but the iron man 3 mandarin twist had me seeing red and i got so mad i broke my phone. I was hyped for YEARS to see the mandarin and i already was in a bad mood that point then for other reasons and that tipped me over the edge. Also further back the episode of MLAATR where jenny kisses sheldon during christmas made 9 year old me pissed

This goes from sad to awkward to kind of funny with how long it runs. The first zoom out and him turning around feels like it should have been the ending, then ripping the card looks like it should have been another ending, but seeing he still stuck around anyway to cry a bit about it while watching them is just funny.
>>
>>151007208
The movie's only 91 minutes. Some executive probably looked at the storyboards and demanded the animators to extend it over an hour and a half as cheaply as possible. Some sadistic troll knew the perfect scene to squeeze an extra 30 seconds out of.

being autistic is not the only reason to miss context, being a young child will cause that too. which are you?

Why are cartoon fags like this?
>>
>>151007245
Someone was having a laugh there for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever planned that had an extra moment or two to add if executives demanded even more run time.
>>
>>151004074
I'm aware, anon. Granted, Hunchback was also one where they had to change the core theme because "the absolute moral decay" isn't a really good one for a Disney movie.

I remember being in 5th grade.
We were in art class, my table was me and a buddy and 2 girls and we were fucking up each other's art. Some good ol' 2v2 stuff, ya know?
We got back to our main classroom and the teacher, probably without full information, described the attacks as "vandalism" so me and my buddy looked at each other and thought we were in trouble from art class or something.
