Rewatching some old cartoons, I noticed that cats are often ugly, villains or just plain punching bags. I get some people don't like cats but like come on.
>>
Catfags actually believe that btw
>>

cats are associated with girls and girls are icky and have cooties
the aristocats helped restore their image of being based little helpers

Oh please, if cartoons accurately portrayed animals then mice would be nasty, little thieves that infest your house not superheroes
>>
>>151006416
cats are sadistic
they love to "play" with their food, ensuring a slow painful death and then they don't even eat it
how many animals kill just for fun?
>>
>>151006735
Bears eat their prey alive and yet they are fat doopey retards in most cartoons

HISTORY LESSON TIME

>Puritan America brought with them the anti-cat traditions that Europe started
>Cats would often be killed in the street or maimed and then left on roofs/tossed over houses
>It was common for children to chase and hunt down cats for fun (throwing stuff at them, cornering them, etc)

The Anglosphere did not grow to like cats until the mid 1800s. By the time WW2 rolled around, the anti-cat tradition had more or less disappeared.

not even that long ago the proper way to dispose of unwanted kittens was tying them up in a bag then drowning them in a river. people were still doing that in the 70's in the west.

It's all about how the average human perceives animals with their limited interaction with them
Dogs are considered Man's best friend because we interact with them the most and actually get something out of it. They can range from loyal to silly goofballs to loyal silly goofballs
Cats are perceived as sadistic but also needy because while we do keep them as pets we don't necessarily get anything "useful" out of it since cat's do what we would like them to do, hunting vermin, on their own time and Cats also like toying with everything for seemingly no real reason
>>
Dogs superior, woo woo woo
>>
>>151006416
They make fun villains
>>
>>151006872
The historic treatment of animals really shows just how psychotic a lot of people are. Apparently the English would stone dachshunds during WWI, just because they're associated with Germany. It's particularly psychotic because Dachshunds are known to be very loyal dogs, with big cute eyes. Don't know what the hell is wrong with the English.
>>
dogs aren't smart enough to be villains
>>
>>151008181
if I all was allowed to eat was beans on toast, jellied eels, and black pudding i'd be fucking barbaric too
>>
>>151008181
yeah, it's hard to grasp my own grandfather used to strangle their kittens with a washing line
the idea that other living things have feelings too is a very, very recent thing
it's so weird that something like that had to be normalized to the general population

I'm not at all surprised. Humans treat each other like literal vermin all day every day in this world, for the crime of having the 'wrong' epidermis or belonging to the 'wrong' religion. When I was a kid I hoped the future would be more or less like Star Trek and now all I want is for humanity to go extinct within the next 100 years.
>>
>>151008181
>Apparently the English would stone dachshunds during WWI,

this claim doesn't seem to go back even as far as WW2 and is not reported in any of the British newspapers of 1914-1918 afaik

be careful what you believe on the internet, you baby-eating octopus

I love cats but that's cuz I was born around them. My last cat that passed away recently would always come into my room just to be pet then sleep awhile, my door is usually shut but i always open the door to let them in, and I know when they want out because they get up and sit by it and wait for me. I can also tell the difference between my first and 2nd cat because the 2nd one which I still have meows a lot and paws at the door when she wants in. But unlike my first cat which loves pets my 2nd cat doesn't. They'll let you pet them gently for a little but if you do it too long they go away. I'm not sure why exactly they wanna go into my room occasionally because they don't sleep there, they just wander around it then leave. Either way I love all the cats I have. There's some nice cats in the world

The concept of a pet, an animal kept purely for the pleasure of its companionship and aesthetics, as something other than a conspicuous affectation of personal wealth only dates to the mid- to late-19th century. Cats and dogs were historically considered working animals and an excessive number of them were an economic sink to maintain, and, in more rural areas, a threat to hunting and trapping.

I don't know about jellied eels, but beans on toast and black pudding are actually not that bad

right, because only the wealthy elite knew how to look after animals properly enough to keep them as pets. everyone else was too barbaric and stupid..gotchas.

Usually in cartoons dogs are portrayed as stupid and cats are portrayed as evil, Ren & Stimpy on the other hand subverted this trope

>>
>during the plague for a time cats were blamed for spreading the plague and chased off or killed
>in reality houses that had cats were at a much lower risk to the plague because the cats would kill the rats/mice

Did you not fucking read the second sentence? It's a shift in perception.

>>151009570
Cats naturally hunt vermin and will do so even when they're not hungry and without needing training. A trained ratter will massively outpace a cat but comes with the time and money sink of training them.
>>
>>151010061
nah, i know this shit. elites will happily erase history and come along pretending they ''enlightened'' the plebs with an awareness of 'caring' and 'nurturing' like a bunch of college retards while happily 'purifying' gene pools in their own ways and then acting like everybody was just as happy to be as psychotic. seems like those kind of lies have been going on for a lot longer than humanity admits.
