We all know the 70s were lowest cartoons got

But which would you say was the second worst era?

The 60s
>Horrible cheap animated shows
>Worst Looney Tunes/.Tom and Jerry
>Animated shorts dying
>Many animation studios closing down
>The stigma that animation is for kids

1980-1986
>Glorified toy commercials
>A bunch of cheaply animated shows
>Smurfs clones
>Lots of saccharine schlocky shows like Rainbow Brite, Care Bears and the OG My Little Pony
>70% of the shows were based off of a pre-existing IP

2008-2012
>Lots of shitty flash shows like Johnny Test, Sidekick and Almost Naked Animals
>Networks focusing a lot on live action shows rather than cartoons
>Action shows being killed left and right
>Shows with with annoying/unlikeable main characters such as Fanboy and ChumChum, Fish Hooks, Robotomy, Planet Sheen, Problem Solverz, The Annoying Orange, Robot and Monster, Scaredy Squirrel, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and may more.
>More than half of the shows are IP based

I know it’s a meme to say the present but it’s genuinely the present.
>>
There's no serious argument that the 1960's were better than the 1970's.

The 60s at least had some cartoons that have remained relevant (Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Spider-Man, Scooby-Doo). The early-mid 80s were pretty awful though.

The 2010s and 20s are worse than the 60s and 70s. Things were pretty dire back then stateside sure, but at least Europe and Japan were consistently producing inventive and original stuff. Now it seems like the entire world can only produce sewage for teen girls and third worlders.

Also there's been tons of great anime produced this decade, much more than last decade

This is a trick question.

The 60s
>TV animation developed
>more imported and exported animation
>non-Disney animation studios made a bigger push into film
>reruns and revivals of theatrically-locked shorts
The 70s
>counter-culture animation emerges
>adult animation
>experimental animation
>other countries start making animation
The 80s
>higher-quality international co-production
>financial toy-centric model

Out of these three, I'll personally argue that the 80s was actually worse for animation internationally, despite the higher degree of international collaboration. Everything became more corporate and industrialized vs. the shaky wild west following Disney's death.

Well, Hanna-Barbera’s work in the 1960s was overall much better than the 70s, even though they mostly got worse as the decade went on.

The 60s also has the last real Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies and the early Charlie Brown specials and Chuck Jones’ Grinch and Jay Ward/Bill Scott cartoons. So not the nadir yet.

Is the guy who makes constant "worst cartoons ever" threads the same guy? Why do you love compiling the worst shit ever? That sounds sad

Have you actually seen the Seven Arts shorts? Because they're almost all either boring or awful. Or both. Often both.
>>
>>151010131
The original studio’s cartoons lasted until 1964.

Granted the early 60s are culturally part of the 50s, but that’s the way division into decades usually shakes out.
>>
Meanwhile early anime looked like /co/ with an Oriental flavor in the '60s. In the '70s it gradually evolved despite their versions of the FCC/PTA wanting to done the spicier stuff. By the '80s it was its own thing

so wild, i was thinking about how bad 60s Looney Tunes was and this thread shows up
>>
>>151010339
Ironically it did what Buddy couldn't in the '30s: killed the Looney Tunes for a decade. It did return in 1979 but by then Mel Blanc was in his twilight years
>>
>>151009891
Yeah, the original Scooby-Doo show actually sucked (even though I enjoyed it as a kid) but we got a decent IP out of it.
>>
>>151010091
Oh and while DePatie-Freleng’s new Looney Tunes sucked they did have a success with the Pink Panther. (Freleng was pretty blunt that he cared more about those cartoons because he owned a piece of the character and got nothing but his fee from Warners.)

I disagree, the Seven Arts era is wayyyyy worse than the little revivals they did in the 80s.

Cool Cat for fucks sake.

Every single one of these is terrible.

The quality of animation in the 1960s was such objective dogshit that you could show a deeply southern religious family from that era Steven Universe and they'd accept the gay twerking lesbians and just mute the TV just because it looks that good in comparison to everything else currently airing.

Also people don't know just how slim your options were back then. You had maybe six channels max unless you lived in a major area. Four of them were local, and two were opposing big news. The four local ones would play local news, dogshit sitcoms that were just "we are a functional family", and the other two were usually just a grab bag of random cartoons and other trash they found for free/hyper cheap. Pretty sure half the stations would just pirate shit. You were lucky if you even got a single D-list Hanna-Barbera cartoon.
>T. grew up with literal boomers that would always talk about how dogshit TV used to be
