Are there scenes too disturbing to be shown in comics?
>>151014483>Black Hole>Necronomicon>CrossedIndustry standards have gotten more and more permissive as the decades go by.And if you just meant capeshit, it's been over 20 years since DC did an on-panel rape scene. And while they haven't gone full smut, but both MAX and Vertigo have shown plenty of T&A. And for gratuitous violence, you have trash like Ultimatum.
>>151014483Any comic written by Bendis is too disturbing for any consumption
>>151014522SPBP
>>151014522
>>151014483No but then again DC has always refused to show penetration with El Bueno
>>151015300Rape is SOOOOOOOO funny when the victim is a man.
>>151014483How did a comic like this turn into such a good show?(Anons who only exist to say everything I like is bad need not reply.)
>>151014522>>151014715>>151016461Give me reasons more why he sucks? All I’m getting a lot is he keeps doing too many dialogue shit with 20 questions and what not.
>>151016461I'm sorry, the correct answer was Jody Houser.
>>151014483your face. no redlabel is enough for that massacre badumtish
>>151016381It sucks that they cut that part out of the show.
>>151014483Jessica has some nice, plump lips.
>>151014483This was nothing
>>151014483Depends on the comic. Nothing should be taboo for any medium but sometimes you need to remember which sandbox you're playing in.
>>151016619>Butchers characters whenever writing them often in contradiction to how they are portrayed previously or makes changes that awfully linger over them for years>Aggressively shits on most comic villains and does that they are not an A-lister so they suck crap all the time>Recycles his ideas all the time including with whatever boring new oc he makes>Can't do cosmic stuff at all and his street level stuff is just wannabe HBO Max>He's bald
>>151014483For comics, no, but if you start showing gore, rape and politics in kid's comics what are you doing.Your pic is kind of silly for your point, Marvel had already multiple rapes in it's series already, including Ms Marvel getting fucked by her son so he could breed himself or something WTF like that.
>>151018651This.
>>151014483
>>151020525what the F
>>151021092
>>151014483Not really, comics like Crossed and Lapham's Caligula alone kind of crossed all the lines already
>>151014483that snuff comic bruce timm did was pretty brutal
>>151021405Pretty okay edit.
>>151021634Name??
>>151014483Her entire mini is an idiot plot
>>151014483Holy shit, it's William afton
>>151014521Funnily enough, Christian "The Banana Games Guy" Zanier did the art for a Crossed spin-off.Amazing how even the comics where a tranny molests the scenery until a piece breaks off in her anus, and sodomy is left, right, center, above, and below are more tasteful than Ennis's edgelord bullshit.
>151014483You don't actually wonder if they're too disturbing to be seen, you just want people to get mad and start fighting.
So offensive and disturbing it instantly caused riots.
>>151023943>heckin edgelordEnnis is a far better writer than you give him credit for
>>151024061I've read his "best stuff," dicknuts, and he's like every other Eurofag that comes across the Atlantic: only lauded as great because bar in American comics is scraping the mantle.Seriously, once you stop reading DC and Marvel slop for bande dessinée, you'll see it for the puerile, adolescent garbage it actually is.
>>151024010...I'm mad
>>151014522>>151016461The most disturbing thing about Bendis is that he keeps getting work despite having such a shitty portfolio.
>>151024291Bendis has to be the most nepo motherfucker despite becoming one of the most universally reviled writers, I even tried giving benefit and reading his older stuff like Ultimate or New Avengers (mainly to grab refs of characters) and it just doesn't hold up at all, like I mentioned it already but he's awful with character voices and especially when writing Marvel villains.
>>151024291The entire brand identity of spider-man at the moment is built around his work.
>>151024376No wonder Spider-Man has been so miserable as a franchise lately
>>151024327I feel like the problem is people just don't think about the context. Bendis 90s work was different from many comics at the time so he gained some rep. His 00s work was post comics crash and different to some of what had come before it took. And then Marvel capitalised on that and pushed "superstar" type writers because it wanted to recover. So much of comics is about novelty until the novelty wears off and the gimmicks become entrenched and everyone complains. You'll never get the experience of reading it because you had to be there. Context matters. It's why comics recommendations are weird. People say x is good, you read it, it feels meh and doesn't hold up, you say it is overrated, rinse and repeat. So many comics recommendations don't hold up, it is a low profit margin disposable form of entertainment created in a short creative turn around. The average comic is bad and good comics are the exception. But people make work that is novel and "good" for the time and fanboys will say, omg his Daredevil run is great, it'll get slapped on rec lists, it'll get read, it'll get reprinted. And for as many people who bounce off that overhype, plenty of other people will buy into the overhype.
>>151024405Actually it's the opposite as Bendis isol one of the most explicitly pro marriage/MJ Stan's in comics. To the point that the chief reason why Bendis has never written the mainline Amazing Spiderman title is due 100% to him wanting MJ/Peter married again and knowing it will never happen so long as Brevoort is around as it's the one thing Brevoort straight up won't let Bendis do
>>151016619>Give me reasons more why he sucks? His comics:>Wordy, so called Bendis speak, lot of lazy standing around talking, characters all acting Whedon-esque/sarcastic, not really working with the visual storytelling. His influence in the 00s:>The lightning rod and somewhat architect of the modern Marvel event cycle in the 00s.>Tom Brevoort the Marvel editor said that Marvel in the 00s made people angry on purpose to sell comics. Bendis was at the forefront of that. This period caused a lot of burn out. His influence in the 10s:>Bendis was on the MCU creative committee, he got kicked off the committee because he stole ideas from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie for his comic. The rumour goes that Feige talked a lot about how he wanted young new heroes for the MCU, since casting young actors on contract would be cheaper than a RDJ.>Bendis apparently created a character like Miles because he saw which way the wind was blowing on adaptations. Bendis was at the forefront of the 10s diversity push and subsequent culture wars that followed. So Bendis was part of that 00s wave of "superstar writer" who got pushed like a rockstar of comics because his writing was alright compared to some of the 90s crap. But then he created the absolute shit show of Marvel events as well as being the forerunner of the diversity push.
>>151024754Didn't Bendis want to kill Peter Parker in Civil War 2? Also honestly thank god he didn't write the mainline Spider-Man cause I dread how he'd butcher writing the rogues gallery.
>>151024659>It's why comics recommendations are weird. People say x is good, you read it, it feels meh and doesn't hold up, you say it is overrated, rinse and repeat. So many comics recommendations don't hold up, it is a low profit margin disposable form of entertainment created in a short creative turn around. The average comic is bad and good comics are the exception. If people had realistic expectations then the problem would be solved but people act in extremes of best or worst things ever. Expectation is the thief of joy.
