>Was the best selling and most talked about comic in 2024
>barely any in 2025
What killed the hype?
>>
Hickman focused less and less on Peter as it went on
Hasn't it been issues since he spoke to his daughter in a conversation lasting more than one sentence?
>>
>>151015905
The last time he had a conversation with May was in Issue 8, in August of last year.
>>
>>151015891
It's not good beyond the first issue. Also, Mayfags might have scared off some readers.
>>
>>151015891
there was never any hype, only the marywhoretards screeching as usual
>>
>>151015891
The fact that the guy who is on the cover and the comic is named after is barely seen doing the thing he's supposed to be doing, and it should actually be named Ultimate A Bunch of People Standing Around and Talking About All of the Things That They're Totally Going to Do At Some Point in the Future.

>Muhfuggin Marywhores
>Norman, dear, who is this strange homeless man?
>Oh, don't mind him Gwen. That's just Paul Rabin.
>Maryslutfags
>What's wrong with this poor man?
>Hm? Oh, some breakup he never got over. He's just been living like some sort of homeless schizophrenic.
>That's so sad...
>Don't pity him too much, my dear. He's from Poland, and he even tried to molest Eddie Brock's son. Now come on, it's almost time for Peter and Mary Jane's anniversary.
>WHORES! WHORES! WHOOOORES!
>Yes, I do think we better get going. What an awful creature.

It’s still Marvel’s best-selling comic. Lowe and Brevoort pulled strings behind the scenes to kill off Ultimate, and the OMD death cult will fellate anything they do.

The fact is, Marvel created its best-selling comic just by letting Peter stay married and shitting on him a mere 10% less. And it’s got a bunch of people so angry about this that they’re seriously considering self-harming, or worse genuinely harming others, over other people liking this better than ASM.
>>
>>151016430
>um, you only like it because they pandered to Peter/MJ fags!
>still Marvel’s best selling comic
The lesson is that pandering to what Peter/MJ fags wants will sell them comics. They hate knowing that though, and would rather castrate themselves and let DC eat their lunch.
>>
>>151016486
I imagine Nick Lowe sneering at a sales chart and going “they think they’re SOOO smart well what if I JUST CHOP OFF MY OWN BALLS AND EAT THEM.”
>>
>>151015891
Because it’s actually Ultimate Green Goblin
>>
>>151016430
>Lowe and Brevoort pulled strings behind the scenes to kill off Ultimate
Are they like those weird fat kids that decide if they’re not happy, then nobody else can be happy?

They try to tell us it’s because an enraged fan is an engaged fan but the truth is they’re just faggots and don’t really care if the company burns down around them as long as they get to keep collecting a check. USM only got to last for two years despite it being Marvel’s best selling comic, meanwhile Paul lasted three years despite being a wet shit who genuinely drove down sales according to one editor, and whose only function now is to be Dylan Brock’s personal bitch.

They don’t care what’s successful, they care about what soothes their ego. They miscalculated though, and they both slithered off of social media because they know they have nothing and are going to get humiliated again.
>>
>>151016430

It's pretty funny because you can see this being so blatant when you look around
Marvel never talked about how well Ultimate Spider-Man was doing unlike a lot of other titles' high orders; this is very notable when DC and Scott Snyder were touting Absolute Batman as the best selling comic of 2024 and someone at Marvel had to tell Rich Johnston to relay the news that Ultimate Spider-Man #1 had more orders. Usually Marvel never misses the chance to do the bragging against DC themselves.

Then there's how weirdly forced the praise for ASM and the hate for USM has been getting this year. It comes off more like people got their scripts to push a fan-narrative rather than coming off genuine.
>>
>>151016919
The fact that it was effortless to uno-reverse the “nothing ever happens” meme on to ASM despite the same faggots desperately trying to get it to stick on to Ultimate was at least hilarious. But the sad fact is that since Dead Language, pretty much nothing has happened.
>>
>>151015891
sales are fake and gay. stop believing their lies. you probably think absolute batman sells well too.
>>
>>151016981
The same faggots crowing about the “stellar sales” during Zeb’s tenure on ASM suddenly stopped liking those sales charts when it showed USM on top and that’s hilarious to me.
>>
>>151016775
They limit their public social media but it wouldn't surprise me if they post anonymously/created sockpuppet accounts to keep their narrative going.

Whenever you see more shitting on DC than usual it's usually someone from Marvel doing it as a distraction from some kind of fuckup Marvel was doing. Brevoort was taking shots at DC on his own formspring or whatever around the time when DCYou was floundering... but it was also when ANAD Marvel was also floundering which retailers were getting even more nervous about.
>>
>>151016507
I still think it's hilarious that he had to make himself look like an ass at NYCC just to keep from having a full blown meltdown like last year.
>>
>>151017071
He accused DC of “blinking” and “giving in to entitled fans” when they let Superman be with Lois Lane. It turned out to be a good move that people liked though.

Inb4 screencap proof that your phone IPs are "different people"
>>
>>151016775
>>151017071
Also don't forget people figured out Slott had a second account on CBR and CBR panicked and tried to clamp down on discussion of that. It definitely wouldn't surprise me if other people at Marvel had secondary accounts

This was a single panel cliffhanger before we fast forward through the altercation, with Peter and Ben going, "That was scary... Anyways!"

The problem with USM is the framing device and trying to hit every single member of Peter's cast and provide them an identity. While initially quaint and allowing us to get past the growing pains of a new origin story, Hickman used the 'one comic = one event in a month' device to handwave any tension or escalation and instead imply it. The issue before this one was a splash motif power play, and now our characters who just came home from being displaced, are displaced again. The storytelling is inorganic and there's no living world behind the events, just reaction to what's on the reader's page. You could also cut Otto, Uncle Ben, JJ, and several other characters and not miss much.
>>
>>151015891
Hickman has never been good at sticking to a point. He either loses interest or plans too far out without knowing how to connect things. People wanted the Peter MJ book, that was all the hype.
>>
>>151016601
>those weird fat kids that decide if they’re not happy, then nobody else can be happy
Yes, exactly like the hatedom for The Last Jedi.
>>
>>151015891
The problem for me is that this book's burn is so slow that it's raw. It feels like the heroes have made zero meaningful moves against the villains, with all of the major actions being taken by the bad guys.
>>
>>151018594
It's sort of amazing. The original Ultimate Spider-Man is the poster child for decompression. He doesn't get a costume until the third issue, Uncle Ben doesn't die until the end of the fourth, and he doesn't so much as see a supervillain until the sixth.
And yet it still feels like things happen. Events have weight, even when they're going at a snail's pace. Everything in the new USM feels like you're reading an event comic, where it's only allowed to reference the things that're going on and you have to read another book to actually see what's happening. But there's no other book, you just get a recap of what happened off-screen and get told it was awesome.
It's somehow emptier than the Bendis version. Instead of excessive empty space around action, it's empty space around recaps of action.
>>
>>151018883
There's just too much we're not seeing.
>>
>>151018883
You're right, didn't even think about that. In Bendis' USM we're so slow rolling that you get a feel for the minutae of EVERYONE'S day-to-day. Not just Peter, but May, Mary Jane, and their supporting HS cast. Now we're given one of the 'best writers at Marvel today' and can't get a feel for anyone.

Peter is a year into webslinging by this point in the story and it doesn't feel that way. Mary Jane has gripes but seems to stop talking about them for months at a time after being dicked down. Their children become less endearing by the page, with Richard making the same mistakes while wearing a synthetic memory of his father created to protect him and the family. The framing device fucked up the storytelling potential and it shows now, more than ever.

At least it's almost over.

>>151018945
Such as everything.
>>
>>151018883
It feels like we’re missing all the cool parts, including character development. The latest issue with Otto as Superior is such a whiplash.

>What killed the hype?
bad sales most likely release of issues 23 has now been delayed a second time this time untill Dec 10, 2025. Maybe if the story had focused more on peter rather then harry then sales would have done have better.
>>
>>151019769
>bad sales most likely

It's outselling most of Marvel's line.
>>
>>151016053
The first issue was bad too. It's propped up by people who think that buying and praising it will send Akira and Lowe a message about what Spider-Man fans want and force them to bring back the marriage. If the Peter/MJ marriage had been brought back they would have dropped USM in an instant.
>>
>>151019780
Care to explain then why it is the first series in the ultimate line to get canceled first? granted the others are ending also but USM is ending much faster then the other ones.
>>
>>151019851
Marvel is the same company that thought people would be hyped up to buy whatever the hell that Age of Apocalypse knockoff is so that's on them to explain why they're ending a top-selling book.
>>
>>151019885
So in other words X-Men rules as usual. That's cool to know that also reminds me to pick up more X-Men books, TBP while spider fags suffer more since they will be stuck with 616 spider-man once USM ends.

Are these threads just made for Gwenschizo, fags pretending to be him, and the Anti-Gwenschizo schizo to take shits in?
>>

>the Anti-Gwenschizo schizo
i haven't posted on 4chan in over 2 weeks. i don't live on the internet unlike the polishpedoschizo
also
>Gwenschizo
>fags pretending to be him
gwenschizo doesn't even post on here and their last post was saying they're done posting in these threads. any "gwenschizo" at this point is the "anti gwenschizo" replying to themselves because they're a loser

that being said
spiderman comics as a whole are not worth discussing on 4chan. you have better chances of discussing current spiderman events in a thread that's related to the character like venom or ultimates threads, the fags who shit up these threads only search out spiderman threads
>>
>>151021108
Sure thing, schizo
>>
>>151020135
They also seem to write the same.
>>
>>151015891
Its still one of the top highest selling comics and one of the most talked about new ones anon.
>>151016430
This
>>
It still gets decent talk in co, but spider-threads have constant shitposting from one guy/a person pretending to be that guy, and then there's the /co/ brand pedoness on top
>>151019780
>most
Its outselling all.
>>151019851
The whole universe is ending, USM started first and got the most issues.

And USM is still the best selling ult book???
>>
>>151015891
It's still selling well and largely loved.
