Just how sapiant does a creature/robot need to be not be excluded from Batman's no kill rule and thus be fair game for Bruce to kill without remorse?

Sapience has little to do with it. Batman's propensity to kill is directly proportional to how good you are. If you are the most good guy on earth (Superman) he will spend as much as time as possible plotting ways to kill you. If you are the most evil guy on earth (Joker) he will spend as much time as possible protecting you and ensuring your safety.

What would have been Batman's plan to kill Mr. Rogers?
>>
>>151020947
No doubt something immeasurably sadistic and horrific.

For the record he only killed that gator because he was infected with scarecrows Anti-Fear Toxin, and the only thing DCAU Batman was afraid of was taking a human life.

The problem with taking the 'no kill' rule literally is that it causes Batman to become a "actually that deadly attack just stunned them" watered down autist.
The real reason why Batman might have a 'no kill' rule is because he believes something like 'criminals should face the legitimate legal authority' or 'they'll suffer more in prison for their crimes' or 'prison might offer a chance at rehabilitation'. None of which applies to animals, especially ones being used as maneaters.

In most media it directly correlates with how human the subject is/looks.

his refusal to kill an alligator isn't tied to his "no kill" mantra but rather him simply recognising it is an animal engaging in its own nature rather than being malicious for the sake of it. He entered its territory and it's defending itself, it's not a villain. Same reason you wouldn't kill a dog barking at you.

I mean Ivy's plant things were gonna die anyway, and the reason for the no-kill rule is so the police can justify not hunting down a vigilante. they can point and say "See? he doesn't kill. we told him not to. so he's under control"
because the state has claimed the right to execute people. which is fine, but then they have to actually do it.

>gator
crocodile. the teeth overlap. Those are both crocs actually. Weird. But then Gotham is a weird place.
>>
>>151020290
That's why he had stuff like Anti-Shark Repellant, to avoid stuff like this.
