Was he right?
>>
>>151023083
Mr. A is wild
>>
>>151023224
What's wrong with that?
>>
>>151023255
Because it's retarded
>>
>>151023083
No, but that doesn't matter. Ditko should have dialed back the proselytizing and focused on writing a compelling story. As it stands, it's a chore to read.
>>
>>151023083
The older I get the less ambiguous morality seems. Mr A comes off as preachy and childish, but is not without his good points. I guess Ditko had to deal with a lot of dicks who screwed those around them over needlessly for fun and profit.
>>
>>151023083
Everything about Mr A makes sense when you understand that Ditko was a fanboy of The Shadow in the same way that Alan Moore is. Libertarians (both right and left respectively) love The Shadow, they always have. Mr A is just The Shadow but re-interpreted by Ditko to be Randian, Objectivist, and to reflect how shitty it was in the 60s and 70s in New York.

Mr A isn't really all that good at being a superhero comic, but it's weirdly endearing at how borderline religious it comes across as an autobiographical power fantasy in the vein of hero pulps.

A lot of people neglect that Ditko's obsession over Ayn Rand and Objectivism was only one part of his life. His real love was for Plato and if Ditko had managed to access more resources on Buddhism (or gotten into Gnostic Christianity), I'm sure he would have found his true calling.

>>151023280
Go move to Somalia or Mexico, you crime-loving faggot.
>>
>>151024719
This is honestly fascinating
>>
>>151023083

Everything Mr. A preached was unimaginative truisms that only apply to life if you live in a world filled with cartoon caricatures instead of real people.
>>
>>151024744
Aristotle not Plato.
>>
>>151023083
>Randian

Lolno

Good analysis anon. Always interesting to see comparisons between him and Moore, even though they seem like complete opposites

>>151023083
Sometimes, but I can say the same about anything. It isn't that bad when you compare it to the opinions of other authors, most of them more popular and loved. But the reason why it always gets attention is because of how preachy it was. Shit it isn't that special. Bad people shouldn't be saved, good people deserve better, you should care more about yourself, a bad person can still change, don't be a hypocrite trying to stay neutral, always fight for justice, mercy can confuse you, etc. Everyone always says that killing a villain is necessary. But when this guys doesn't saves the antagonist, that's revolting? That page always gets reposted, here and everywhere else. You don't like it because of the amount of text and how imperative he sounds. Angry about quality? Those authors I was talking about have made worse things, at least Ditko was trying to maintain genuine.

And I despise how you guys just talk about Mr. A, and specifically the old Mr. A. Some of his opinions changed through out the years, as this anon says
>>151024744
And his relatively normal comics are always overlooked.

It comes off as a bitter diatribe

Did you take this picture anon?

Absolutely moronic, a system of strict justice (i.e. one where the punishment fits the crime exactly) is not remotely desirable, nor is it even actually possible.

>>151025799
>Aaaah!!! I'm so multifaceted and complex, you can't execute me for my multiple murders you fascist!!!

Go watch Cocomelon

I don't want to.

Yo need to

For some reason I imagine the mask being gold.
>>
>>151023083
Objectivism is such a fucktarded "philosophy" that even Ken Levine could see that it would inevitably collapse under its own bullshit.
>>
>>151028146
But he didn't get it.
>>
>>151023083
He's not wrong; he's just an asshole.
>>
>>151026916
Face too big.
>>
>>151027821
It's white from top to bottom, the mask was originally metal along with the gauntlets but painted white.

Actually it's Socrates.

Pythagoras.

Yes he was always right, of center.
