Which series should I read of this? All of them? Including the "My Greatest Adventure" ones?

If you can handle silver age, start with the og stuff and once that ends just skip to Morrison and stop there. Otherwise, just Morrison.
>>
>>151026088
How comparable is the Morrison run to the original stuff?
>t. different guy reading the Morrison run right now

Silver Age
Morrison
Giffen

Different enough. Arnold Drake said Morrison understood Doom Patrol better than he ever did, he started incorporating stuff like dadaism in it and put his own spin on things. Everything since has tried to imitate him and that's why they've failed.

Jane's whole storyline was some of the bleakest shit I've ever seen in a DC show since the prisoner of war rape in Pennyworth.

holy shit, the origin of Alfred the butler went that dark?

I was reading the original run of this a few years ago, but I lost my place around when the alien invasion happened and the Brotherhood of Evil suggested a team-up with the Doom Patrol.

I've read a few issues from the Morrison run, very odd, but in a good way. I was mostly curious about Mr. Nobody.

I read most of Keith Giffen's run out of curiosity. It suffers from DC's mega crossover events interrupting the plot repeatedly before getting canceled.

I was reading Gerard Way's run when it got posted on /co/ some years ago, but lost track of that after Milk Wars. It was OK, but felt like it was trying too hard to be like the Morrison run. A more surreal art style might've helped it instead of the middle ground between bland and imitation.

I didn't like the Drake or Morrison runs.

The thing about Morrison and Drake is that the members of the doom Patrol aren't trad superheroes. They're fucked up people with superpowers (sometimes fucked up superpowers) and no place else to go. The other runs are either just straight superheroes or imitations of Morrison.
there's some peak art in some of those other runs, however. Derrington, Byrne and early Larsen, among others. The art in the Morrison run never really goes beyond competent.

Case's art is better than those 3.
>>
>>151026060
Way’s is the only one worth skipping. Even Byrne isn’t that bad.
>>
>>151030933
That's really sad.

I could not disagree more.

That's a skip.

Sorry but Larssen and Byrne? I'd at least get it with Derrington, but hell no on the other two.

Yes

Whatever looks good.

Don't bother.

That one issue inked by Philip Bond was good. Also, I think Sean Phillips and Steve Yeowell drew some cool issues.
