The plot of the movie is that all the reptiles were forced underground by an evil rich lynx family that runs Zootopia. The lynxes are portrayed as being highly civilized and organized (in a 'creepy' way) throwing lavish galas.The leader of the lynxes took credit for founding Zootopia, when really it was the STRONK WYMYN grandma of the annoying Asian-accented snake character who came up with the idea for the city. All the reptiles now live in a total shithole district that is described as having a 'rich culture.' Nick and Judy have to defy their cop chief's orders in order to discover this ghetto.The son of the lynx leader pretends to help the heroes, but then rejects the opportunity to redeem himself and he poisons Judy to keep the secret from getting out. It turns out this lynx family has a history of colonizing other lands and murdering people with poison to get their way.In the end, the truth gets out and the statues of the lynxes are torn down, and statues of the immigrant snake family are put up instead. The reptiles come out of their hidden ghetto and re-integrate into Zootopia.Oh and also the current mayor of Zootopia, the buff Patrick Warburton horse, is a puppet of the lynxes and does as they say to maintain power. About as subtle as a knee to the groin.

The abuse is not intentional, though it gets muddied by Mirabel being treated like a disabled accident by her grandma (Mirabel's own parents at least give her the same equal love as her sisters). Everyone walks on eggshells around each other and never talks, and it's only by Mirabel dragging them out of their boxes one by one do they start actually getting on a path allowing for self-healing. Feelings may get hurt at first (represented by the house falling down), but it's nothing that can't be fixed and repaired with a bit of support (help from the townsfolk).and time.Raya suffers from a rushed ending. It should have been a Disney+ TV Series where it would have had 13-26 episodes to actually pace things out correctly and actually let Namaari have time to break from her mother's negative influence and actually earn the trust she is given at the end to save the entire country from being wiped out.Zootopia's problem is that they kind of mixes the messages in a weird way. There are herbivores and carnivores both working on the police force without issue, we see criminals of both types too, the society has clearly figured out that everything is cool because there's enough food alternatives out there. So the only real people pushing the "Predators are evil actually" narrative are some sheep tired of being infantilised. Really, the conflict for Judy in the movie is that she's from a tiny race whilst all the tall and big animals call the shots. Shit isn't about predator vs prey animals, it's a movie about height restrictions, whilst also showing that animals that even Judy towers over get entire areas of the city and public transport built for them to live in coexistence with the giants. Even if the predators were gone, the elephants and the giraffes would still have been patronising to Bellweather for being small.
