Why is it so difficult to get a decent Spider-Man Story with MJ and Peter married.
>>
>>151032894
Them not having been married for about 20 years doesn't help imo.
>>
Write your own. The divorced men that took over hate happy couples.
>>

Interesting, how would that effect the way the story was written? Or is it just reader perception and expectations?

>effect
Affect.

Because the people editing, writing, and handling Spiderman for decades have confused Peter being a teen underdog with that being his character and personality, and not a point in time/plot point. It's literally bad writing, where someone actively stops a character from progressing because they don't understand the actual character.

I suppose poor grammar and spelling can also affect the way a story is written. :)

Its confusing to me disney doesnt want the marriage and spider kids. they could even give them a fat lesbo daughter and twink son. Maybe there is something more nefarious afoot.
>>
>>151032894
Because the powers that be at Marvel don't see them being together as important, nor advantageous. This problem probably extends even beyond editorial and is probably a decision made by a high-level executive old-head who either dislikes seeing Spider-Man with MJ, believes that either no profitable stories can be made with them being married, or that ragebaiting readers generates more revenue.

I'm guessing that Disney are going to pimp the IP to China if no one privatizes the company.

Holy shit, a thread about MJ and Pete's marriage and Gwen-schizo didn't even post one "marywhorekek" or Paul picture? I think he really is gone. Good riddance.
>>
At this point fuck it, gimme an AU where Peter is boning Carlie Cooper or Liz Allan.

It's difficult to get a decent Spider-Man story period.

>renew your vows = ruined by time skip
>ultimate spider-man = only allowed to go for two years
>spider-man '94 = dozen 616 stories smashed into a mini with bad art
>>
Do people even want that? MJ doesn't seem very popular right now with current fans/readers desu

Mostly that

Well, anon, I think you'll find that when a story's written matters a lot because of both the sensibilities of the times and the writers themselves will be different. Even if you have the same writer, the work they put out at different times is going to be different. Take, for example, Frank Miller. The Dark Knight Returns is a far cry from Holy Terror, for example. There's stuff getting published today that never would've been allowed back in the 1930s, and a lot of writers probably wouldn't've even thought to try and get away with it. Today we think nothing of the queer bipoc polycule made up of nonbinaries and genderfluids, but even twenty years ago it would've been radical, and forty years ago untouchable.

Have fun chasing healthcare in 2025.

The only people that don't like MJ are Feliciafags and Marvel. But the latter has to keep using her because she's such an important Spider-Man character whether they're together or not.

Renew Your Vows destroyed the appeal from the get-go. Everybody and everything has to be about powers. MJ has to have superpowers, we have to focus on X-Men and Lizards and Normie taking Goblin Serum to retread "Osborn tries to avenge previous Osborn" ground. We're introduced to Annie May's supporting cast of classmates, but they're immediately brushed aside to focus on capeshit. There's barely any sense of normalcy here. It's peak modern Marvel writing and I don't mean "peak" in any kind of positive way here. It felt like lamer Fantastic Four because at least Fantastic Four all have different superpowers and are not just "Mr. Fantastic. Mr. Fantastic but girl. Mr Fantastic but little girl".
And for all the complaints about how Peter is sidelined in Ultimate, most of RYV focuses on MJ and Annie May with Peter feeling like a side-character in supposedly his own book.
