What was so special about outsourcing animation? personally it was a double edge sword, meaning most shows only looked good when japanese studios worked on our shit.

theres also as bit of division of labor going on, since a studio that devoted every single employee to a single task could do it better than the relatively small team that the main studio had

that being said, it wasnt uncommon for them to add their own in-house animation in addition to the outsourced animation for when finer control was needed or if they just needed a very specific sequence that they couldnt leave to some one else
