So Rorschach was gay for Nite Owl, right?

Rorshach is much closer to a mammy caricature of the idiosyncratic asexual nerd, being retroactively rewritten as a hyperconservative tard who's repulsed by sex specifically because his abuser liked it instead of just, you know, not being into sex. That doesn't preclude him from having gay feelings, but he's certainly not gay in the way you're implying where he would want to pork Dan.
>>
I wish I was on /co/ in 2009 when talking about this was common.

>sex specifically because his abuser liked it instead of just, you know, not being into sex
To be fair. It's common as hell for abuse victims go down either "hyper sexual" or "sex-averse".
It's doesn't even have to be a sexual abuse they undergo either. It's an intimacy and validation thing. Sex is vulnerability, connection, and an established power dynamic between you and another person. Thus, people are either afraid of it because of the vulnerability or throw themselves into it since, in their eyes, it proves their value and allows them to feel some sense of power/control in some way shape or form.
Rorschach is a pretty standard case of what a lot of child abuse victims actually look like. More than anything what he wants is to be able to view a framework of the world where the wicked always get what's coming to them, where he can just power through his trauma because good will win in the end and where he doesn't need people to be vulnerable around.
He's likely gonna deny any sexual stirrings he may have straight or gay because he doesn't like being tied to someone like that.

He’s definitely straight. I don’t think the strained friendship plot works if he felt any romance for him. Romance is irrational because of sexual attraction, friendship is purely appreciative of being there for someone.

It’s a fujo thing. He’s grumpy and sad and hates life but around Dan he’s nice and lets Dan be his voice of reason. So they conflate the only affection he has for anyone with love.
This might sound strange but women usually like to project themselves through the ‘Rorschach’ in Yaoi stuff.

The movie's Nite Owl is so good tho. I'll eventually read the comic, I already know it's gonna be amazing anyways and comic Nite Owl is very good too but in the movie he just looks so badass.

I think my perfect design would be movie version with the comic's colour palette.

>This might sound strange but women usually like to project themselves through the ‘Rorschach’ in Yaoi stuff.
Is it really that strange? Rorschach obviosuly seeks to embody old-school American masculinity, and a lot of people will say he is nothing but a virulent misogynist - but underneath all of that, perhaps on a unconcious level, he identifies his own suffering with that of women and seems especially invested in protecting them

>becomes a vigilante in the first place in order to avenge a young woman
>gets overly emotionally invested in the disappearance of a little girl, and spirals because of said girl's death
>save for Captain Carnage, all the criminals Rorschach kills as a vigilante are rapists and abusers of women
>wears the remains of a woman's dress as his mask

I remember coming across a really interesting article from years ago written by a female fan, who talked about how she heavily related to Rorschach as a victim of sexual abuse as a child. If only I had an easier time trying to find it again.

>>151048263

Or a sign of internet speak. Writing in the internet and especially social media will transform them writing in a semi-spoken language as if it is written in a comic text box.
It is tempting to write it on the fly.
>>
>>151041874
I don't think Rorschach would even know what he is. He's been so stuck in his hole he can barely process basic human interaction. I see it as an extreme version of when a guy will get super attached to any somewhat attractive girl who's nice to him, he's really attached to Dan simply because he's nice to him and he's never had that before. I don't think sex even factors in, just "Dan nice to me, spend more time with Dan if possible"
>>
Wait, do people really thing Rorshy is gay? Or like, a closet homo? Or is this an ironic t hread that's gone straight over my head?
>>
>>151048343
The movie is fine as a comic book movie. Just the subtile changes makes it kinda the opposite what the tone was in the graphic novel.
It is kinda truthfull to the source but not really. And i dont mean the squid ending being replaced.

Fujos don't understand male friendship and think everything is gay.
>>
>>151041874
No, like the Comedian Rorschach seems to cling to guy less because of sexual attraction and more affection he was deprived of growing up, he doesn't seem to have any favorable opinion of Jon or Adrian despite their physique and appearance, but was clearly felt hurt whenever his professional colleagues didn't personally stand by him. If you re-read the first issue before he goes to any of them he has a neutral or even impressive if not sardonic title for them, "A better class of person", "indestructible man", then leaving with a sour remark about them after being dismissed.
Another example is how he's quiet when the Minute Men are being formed until Comedian scoffs at it as a coping effort, then he partially agrees to likely get on Blake's good side, but flatters Dan by noting how much work they've done as a pair instead of a whole team. It's clear he just wants people he regards highly to think the same of him.

What's tragic is had Walter not gone off on his own, got traumatized and disappeared Dan might have let him room with him all those years.

>>151045229
I'm not sure what Dan's saying at the end, but this would have been a good bit after the hug. Walter handing Dan a bunch of stuff he pinched from others to make up for the beans and sugar he took, but passing it off as if it were his own.

it's been one of those minor theories that's been around longer than you'd think, I remember it already been a thing in the 2000's with the implication that it's been a reading of how he acts since the 80's. From the whole old idea that homophobes are closetcases, to just taking his handholding as a token of affection. More nuanced views on male loneliness since have downplayed that and it's largely just the realm of shippers these days.

In this guy's Fargo video, near the beginning he basically said something like "The realism of the show makes it feel more real." I commented pointing out how stupid that sounds, and he replied defensively saying, "But it said it's based on a true story." It's not based on a true story. That's just a marketing thing a bazillion stories have done. Even then, he missed the point of my critiicism because it wasn't about whether the show has verisimilitude, but the fact that his statement was flat out retarded.

>Rorschach/Dan/Laurie, double penetration

Walter was on his hands and knees, his arms clutching the lavish bedsheets. (Even now, his hands seemed too unrefined for them) The position wasn't unfamiliar to him, but the combination of sensations were. Behind him, Laurel was buried inside, using her sizable phallus as a piston to hit his good spot over and over. Daniel was thick and full in his mouth, descending into edge of his throat. A trail of drool ran down his chin.

Moments before, there had been their usual tangle of bodies. Daniel and Laurel had shared a knowing look like they often did.

"He's gonna love this," she had said, and Daniel nodded back in return.

Now, he was skewered between them, unable to do anything but rock back and forth with their thrusts. He was a marionette guided by their hands – Daniel gripping his scalp and Laurel digging into hips, sure to leave bruises the next day.

He was vulnerable and helpless like this, unlike the the icon that he aspired to be—indelible and unwavering. Unlike Rorschach.

Walter's eyes were screwed shut, but he could clearly picture what he must look like now – wanton and weak and shameless. He must look like his mother. He must look like a—

Instinctively, he buried his face into the bed and raised his arm to cover his eyes in shame, though it did nothing to cover the brazenness of his depravity. But he badly wanted to be concealed.

The thrusts stopped. Walter felt a slender hand against his wrist and large hand on his cheek. Laurel's breasts were pressed against his back. Tenderly, she drew his concealing hand away to reveal Dan's beatific face, glasses and all, smiling down on him.

“It's okay,” they said. “You're good.”

And Walter chose to believe them for now.

I just went to school, went home. Now i go to work, go home. There never was love or passion in any of it. I just scream myself awake, trudge through the day, and disassociate till bed. I have no friends, i earn minimum wage and i've never even loved a woman let alone touched hands with one.

People imagine this from projecting onto Walter, but few do the same for Dan to see it doesn't fit.
Dan had let Walter know his secret identity and kept contact with Hollis, who even felt Dan gave himself trouble with it, so he wasn't someone prone to abandoning his friends, it was Rorschach who didn't associate with Dan for almost a decade due to offended principles and trauma, and Dan didn't know Walter's identity so he couldn't go searching all over for answers. Yet Dan receives Rorschach well enough when he breaks in, repeatedly and chiefly due to his personal interest in the Comedian's death prompting it more than anything in Dan's life, and even after Rorschach leaves just as abruptly and ends up arrested from not using caution Dan still eventually feels obligated to break him out of prison, during a riot and while Dan and Laurie were under threat of being arrested, then continues to help Walter with the investigation after Laurie gets beamed up and Dan finds out Hollis died alone in his absence, and even flies Walter all the way to fucking Antarctica to wrap it up instead of just going into hiding and being done with everyone.
Last and most of all Dan tried to warn Walter against storming off as usual but Walter's offended principles compelled him to dismiss the advice as usual, even after Walter himself had just reconciled how difficult he can be as a friend.

I didn't expect readers to lap up Dan's human fallibility like Moore wrote, but it's still a shame people who probably are familiar with doing what they can or going out their way for others only to be dismissed don't seem to speak up for Dan more.
He'd had gone above and beyond what most people would to protect the lives of his friends but it's precisely because characters and readers write him off as a fussy nerd that all of it gets swept away as stuff that happened while his need for validation is put under spotlight.
>>
>>151056597
Dan probably did care about him as a human being but also was probably ready for the last 15 years to wake up and hear about them finding Rorschach's corpse on the street in some alley. He's basically seen everything he's known get torn away, and can't go back to his old life so he's effectively dead in a sense himself.
Hollis' death is what really impacted him

I just hadn't made a friend since elementary school and have no female aquaintances. Even so, guys get obsessed with women they've never even met. My class is like 60% female and all of them are incredibly beautiful and still i don't really have any burning passion for romance in me. I wish i did but eh. I exchanged maybe 4-5 sentences total since the beginning

I always read it as a somewhat tragic tale of Rorsach's worldview not allowing for even a moment of respite. He's fighting against the whole world, and so he can't find momentary tranquility in a friendship or anything of the sort, even though Dan clearly cares for him greatly.

Because you're the 10 percent of humanity who doesn't experience this. An outlier.
Even more evidenced by your lack of self-reflection that a twenty year old that posts on an image board of dwindling relevance largely frequented by aging millennials would in any way be indicative of normalcy.
I see posts like this on 4chan all the time, people rebuffing generalizations by using themselves as counter examples...when just by posting on 4cvhan in 2025 alone you're not anywhere close to an average person.

I used to have a big of an unearned ego so i mentally downplay any and all outlier-qualities and liken myself to a commoner mentally at all times. I guess that polluted my worldview a little bit but it's better than the alternative. I used to be arrogant about being a freak which is a quick way to make everyone hate you immediately.

I don't know what to do even knowing full well the state of affairs. I'm pretty sad that i'm seemingly missing out on a crucial part of the human experience.

The handshake was a moment of respite.
