obviously awful, a dumb, dumb guy trying to do moore, but the punch and judy characters or whatever their names were, were almost sort of interesting. He should have just done a smaller scale quasi crossover using them instead. The entire extended cast of the DC universe wordlessly getting on space ships and speeding off to Mars and confronting Manhattan in those few pages was some of the most pants on head retarded comics ive seen.

Art, cover art and background characters in this book are superb, maybe is not a good comibook.
But it is a fun comicbook and that is more that you can get in the last 16 years.
>>
>>151046493
I'll take it over the HBO series.
>>
>>151046493
Imagine Hickman doing Doomsday Clock instead. We could have gotten something to rival the original series.
>>
>>151046493
I don't think much of Johns as a writer, so I've never read it.
>>
>>151046823
If that were the case, I would probably like comics by Hickman.

The continuation of Watchmen is fine until it brings in the cast of DC comics. Ozymandias goes from a long-game-playing schemer who is able to pull off the insane in a way which feels believable and sensical through the context of the story to a ridiculous miracle worker who can make anything he wants happen through the power of a contrived narrative.

Basically every character minus Ozy, Dr. Manhattan, and Superman are completely superfluous to the narrative, contributing nothing at all despite their significant screentime. (pagetime?) You could remove the Comedian, Rorschach, Marionette & Mime, and most of the DC cast without loosing anything crucial to the narrative.

There are other significant, but easy to point out problems as well:
>Dr Manhattan gets new powers without explanation
>No good explanation for why he can't see past his fight with Superman is given
>Dr. Manhattan is vastly out of character
>The pacing is terrible, this maxiseries could have been a miniseries
>I love Superman, but the sheer dick-riding of him this story engages with is fucking insane.

Theme-wise Doomsday Clock reads like a memo to editorial to start making more light hearted and optimistic comics.
The main question that raises is why this wasn't just an email.

It makes me think that John's didn't actually ever read Watchmen, and only watched the movie. But he watched it in YouTube shorts, out of order.

Hearing people talk about it, though, makes me think that there are a lot of people who don't understand how Dr. Manhatten's powers actually worked.

It had promising ideas and set ups. But it was a bad book and decided for the dumbest paths.
And it was too confusingly written, like the writer didnt knew what the book should be.
Was it a Watchmen book? A team-up to integrate Watchmen into mainline? Just trying to give the readers a good 52 conclusion? Was it the starting point for a new event and set the new Legion and JSA books up?
>>
>>151048180
>The continuation of Watchmen is fine until it brings in the cast of DC comics.
That's because all of the characters in it are analogs for DC characters anyway. Moore's original idea was to use the Charlton characters who were analogs for DC characters. When he was told no he made new analogs.
>>
Daily Rick Remender that doomsday clock book is a book about Carver Colman, mime and marionnette the rest of characters don't matter in this tale, they are funny background character in this tale.

>>
>>151048446
I don't think that impacts much.
I meant I liked the direction the plot took.
Rorschach's journal undermining Ozymandias's plan, that psychologist's son becoming the new Rorschach, the world under renewed tension, Ozymandias being the most wanted person in the world.
That was compelling. Moore has a good pen for logical, realism-based, worldbuilding, and this felt in line with that despite being written by someone else.

Yes. Because the art fits the time the story is set in. Well written with nice twists. Some philosphical questions are raised. Got a crime noir flair. And i liked that Cooked tried to do a Moore twist by transforming a Charlton Comic charatcer into the story.
I only saw that in the Before Rorschach comic.

The repeated delays killed it.
It was supposed to be the next big thing in the DC mainline comics, but got so much delay it just became "oh, and this happened in another universe" note.
>>
>>151046493
Disrespectful to Alan Moore's work. Waste of time event. The only result from it was making the New 52 universe even more like the previous New Earth continuity. But worse & gayer.

Delays aren't what killed Doomsday Clock. What killed it was that it was meant to lead into a reboot of DC universe, which never happened, and that robbed it of any significance it had. It became just another meaningless mediocre Elseworlds story that amounted to fanfiction.
>>
>>151057629
idk but it reminds me of my mother
>>
>>151059172
I think the delay was something that killed the momentum.
But your point is really good and if it was sooooo good, it would habe endured the waiting between issues.
>>
>>151059172
Anon, it was a reboot, but also not a reboot.
it was Johns fixing the ship and making sure it doesn't sink after DiDio and Lee made the damn thing hit not even a iceberg, but a minefield.
All courtesy of Harras and DiDio's retarded hate over the word Legacy and their retarded wank over Barry Allen and muh edgelord DC that never existed at all.
Literal Eltingville levels of behavior.
>>
>>151052832
Sort of, Azzarello tried to punch up "Sucks to be you right now" so it wouldn't sound juvenile while still seeming mocking, but it just turned out jarring like the rest of the fever dream of Rorschach's segment.
>>
>>151046493
It's stupid
>>
>>151048447
Is it?
>>
>>151061925
Maybe??
Geoff tried to pull some long winded interconnection between Jon's decisions being affected by the actor and the two psychos but the end scarcely relates to their antics outside of the nigh omnipotent kid Jon hands over to Dan and Laurie last minute.

The majority of the story is all sorts of confused horseshit about metahuman black projects, Russia, Black Adam, telling the reader a dumb pointless fight between Manhattan and the JL in space isn't the plan then that happening anyway but not mattering so it's technically right, Veidt gathering people and making up bullshit to confuse people for no real reason when he can travel between realities and manipulate things just fine without them and under alias, Legion coming back, also the Comedian, but not really, Superman lectures Jon, Batman's around sometimes.

Because you keep sharing it over and over. No one's replying to your picture and actually wanting to discuss your opinion. It's usually just people telling you that your opinion is bad.
Consider sharing your opinion, without your dumb meme picture next time.
>>
>>151059172
>>151059481
A lot of things in the mainline comics were teasing Doomsday Clock. But delays just stacked on top of eachothers and DC couldn't just stop every series.
So a big crossover event became a sidenote, that is stuck between "it happened for real" and "nevermind, it was another universe"
>>
>>151046493
Extremely shitty cashgrab limited series.
