I know this character is almost certainly going to turn out to be evil or something, but at least in the episode she was in I found her extremely refreshing. I'm not a Christian but I have noticed it's incredibly rare not just in this show but in general lately to have a Christian angelic character played completely straight as a kind, merciful, and benevolent entity - especially one at the presumed highest seat of power in Heaven. Basically in that story, after Cain was branded with the mark and forced to wander the earth, Belphagor back when she hadn't fallen was his guardian angel for centuries. After Lucifer’s War in Heaven Belphagor was banished the hell not cause she helped Lucifer but because she did fuck all and didnt pick a side. Fast forward another few centuries, Cain is in Hell going doomslayer on demons in the deepest ring of hell because he’s venting anger at Hell and himself for how his family was ruined. One day he encounters Belphagor again and only doesn't kill her cause he recognized it was his guardian angel. Cain inquires why she isn't fighting over which great fallen angel should take control of the ring of hell they are in like the others and she says because she doesn't feel like it and there’s really no point, she never agreed or wanted to be in hell in the first place. Cain acts all tsundere and says he wont kill her because of their past history and because she isnt a threat. After Cain kills every fallen angel in the ring, Belphagor becomes the boss of it by default due to being the only Fallen left, and that's how the Ring of Sloth was founded. After a few thousand years Cain mellows out a lot and he and Belphagor are married, he basically runs most of the Ring while his wife is a lazy neet fallen angel. They really do love each other and she’s really protective of Cain, it's the only thing that actually works her up out of her slothfulness.
