Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch, is cooler than Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four. Almost feel like Johnny usurped the popularity of Marvel's oldest hero
For a fire guy, being cool is a bad thing. Burn hot like a star.
>>151071160You have to remember FF was created in response to JLA. Johnny was a Silver Age reboot like Hal or Barry.
>>151071160I always liked this and I wish he was included in anything else. MCU already has Vision so they can't give him that origin.

Johnny is one part of a large family cast, and writers have gotten very good at figuring out his role in it all. They know how to play him off the others. Johnny on his own isn't much fun, sure, but that's not really what the character is FOR.Jim Hammond... I don't hate him, but c'mon. No supporting cast. The whole "I'm a robot, but I feel" thing isn't exactly unique. Marvel barely remembers the characters he was "friends" with back in the day. He's not a bad character, you can do something with him, but aside from killing HItler and being "one of the originals" there's just not much memorable about him.
>>151072417Where could they even introduce him? VisionQuest?
>>151072463Hammond isn't a character, he's a plot device. and a very good one. just like Apocalypse, Leech, and uhh who am I leaving out here.
I only know about him, Namor and Captain America being Marvel's original superhero tean because of the Earth X books
>>151072544>People only remember Human Torch, Namor, and Captain America, the least Blazing-Skull-ish members of the team (aside from the other ones that weren't the Blazing Skull)
>>151071160Why did they tear his statue down?
Is Hammond still around in continuity? Is he doing anything or retired?
