Rubberband Man is underrated
>>151084116hey, that's the dude who exorcises nen from hunter x hunter
>>151084116He's a no good thug like his brother. Lock them both up.
>>151084116Fly from a taliban
>>151084116>Rubberband Man is underratedI agreehttps://youtu.be/jdiB3cISeBk?list=RDjdiB3cISeBk
>>151084116>fucks the hero's sister after turning goodBased, more villains should do it.
>>151085446
>>151084116He even has his own theme song. 3 of em.
This is pretty much the only episode of Static Shock I remember. This dude transforms into a purple vacuum and is lies in wait for the main character to come home haha
>>151086526>>151085446heh heh
>>151084116I be Rubberband ManWild as that Taliban
>>151084116Why did he switch costumes
>>151087972they're stuck in my fucking head. can't think of one without the other. the song came first, right?
>>151086403He banged Sharon?
>>151084116I am pretty impressed that his redemption arc actually stuck.
>>151084116Why the fuck does he look like Batman Beyond version of the Joker but black?
>>151088490He had one bad day
>>151084116why he black?
>>151088587Rubber black
>>151088490Kinda funny how Static had two crossovers with Batman Beyond, albeit set at least a couple decades apart
>>151088490Damn the Joker was jacked
>>151089182I'd say that it's because it's Tim's body but even then he wasn't in that kind of shape. Joker's tech really was on another level.
>>151084116His powers were animated well. Makes it a shame Plastic Man wasn't in the DCAU
>>151084116Rubber isn't purple
>>151085426
>>151088394Yes
>>151084116why is he black
>>151088587>>151093196Sometimes he's purple
>>151085446KINO
>>151084116Triangle chin niggahh
>>151084116I can't find the clip but I loved how he overcame his dyslexia with logic when disarming a bomb or something. He was following written instructions and it was going OK but then the last step said to turn the knob COUNTERCLOCKWISE and he just couldn't read it. But he reasoned that there were only 2 options, either clockwise or counter clockwise, and there were way too many letters to be clockwise.Just a mature way of dealing with his disability, even if it was in a heightened context. His main issue is his name. It just sounds too goofy. I know there's 3 cape stretchos already but come one, anything would be better than named after an office supply.
>>151084116Remember when it's revealed he's Ebon's brother but then it's never referenced again after that episode?
>>151094669Is it really worse than Elongated Man?
>>151084116Don't mean to hijack thread but I feel Ebon is underrated if not underused.
>>151094817They both are
>>151094791Elongated Man is kinda boring but more distinguished.
>>151095026Having three stretchy charcters that all end in Man probably doesn't help either
>>151086601No, that was a sudden disguise when Virgil came home so he wouldn't discover he was fucking his sister.>You couldn't turn into a vacuum cleaner with wheels?>...Wheels are hard
>>151088587Because most of the villains in Static Shock are inner city gang members.
>>151094669Rubberband-man is fine because it rhymes. You can't be afraid to be a little goofy when you have stretchy powers.
>>151094817>underusedEbon and his gang reoccurred more than any other villain.
>>151095646Why didn't he just disguise himself as a speck of dust?
>>151096023Because even if he could compress his volume down that much, focusing 200 pounds into something that small would make him sink through the floor.
>>151096083It would do the job
>>151084116Has he ever shown up in the mainline comics?
>>151096319He's based on a character from the original Static series (really in name only) and hasn't made any mainline appearances.
>>151096908Not even one? He has the potential to make it big as a character
>>151084116>reformed villain actually stays good for the rest of the seriesWhy the hell is that such a rare concept? You'd think comics and cape adaptations would do it more often, seeing how it's proving to the audience that what superheroes are doing is actually working.
>>151098488Writers are stuck in the status quo
>>151094817I find the way Ebon was drawn to be really interesting. He especially stood out in the earlier episodes where they clearly had a shoestring budget, because he still was animated particularly well. It was almost like he was drawn onto the background itself, which makes sense given his gimmick. The colour palette they used for him has a certain quality that more closely resembles the classic cel animation of the older DCAU shows than the nascent digital animation they were using for Static Shock.
>>151096319I think he is in the current series
>>151099687I'm pretty sure this one isn't part of DC's main continuity though. Has he been up to anything in this?
>>151089182Why couldn't Batman Beyond beat aged out of shape Tim?
>>151100501>I'm pretty sure this one isn't part of DC's main continuity thoughMilestone is a separate universe like Absolute.
>>151100619Would be nice to see the Static characters interact with other DC characters again
>>151100724Marvel called dibs though
>>151100788I can't believe they managed to do this considering Static's rights issues
>>151096908What's this version like?
>>151102817I think he was just a hitman trying to kill Static
>>151084116How rubbery was he?
>>151088587Static villains are just inner city teens who aspire to be super villains, but can aspire to be two but thug for Batman villains
>>151104170Inner city teens with nice themes.
>>151103987Like a rubberband
>>151102887Doesn't seem as interesting
>>151105026How very powerful.
>>151106651But how manly was he?
>>151088391Pretty sure the name came from the 70s song Rubberband Man
>>151099687Damn, they relaunched the book already?
Him going through his dyslexia to try and diffuse a bomb was weird to me because I didn't know what dyslexia was and thought he was just retarded
>>151094669>His main issue is his name. It just sounds too goofy. It's a reference to a song by The Spinners, which is fitting since he went into music>>151094749The problem is we didn't see the two of them in many episodes together to begin with.
>>151100526Because Terry was good, but was generally inferior to the previous generation. In TNBA, Tim was an inexplicably exceptional athlete, easily moreso than Terry despite minimal training. Terry was heavily reliant on the suit. Even as aged as he was, Tim was still probably stronger, faster and more skilled than Terry was.
Static Shock was by far the best iteration of Static. I wish they'd revive it from where they left off, although the last few episodes definitely wrote them into a hole by de-powering practically the entire cast. The latest iteration having the Bang Baby crisis be a result of experimental tear gas is the most retarded thing I've ever seen. Virgil getting caught up in a gang war because he just wanted some bullies off his back was far more real.
>>151108682Gang culture is just a part of life now
>>151089160Static is part of the future JL>>151100924DC owns all of it now as all of milestone.Static's problem was giving the Comic to a retard who never read a static comic or saw the cartoon when nu52 came out and he suddenly became tony stark
>>151094817Ebon is a fantastic "main" villain, him and Hotstreak are perfect foils for Vergil.
>>151099432I love how S1 of Static looked
>>151110241You love how S1 of Static looked
What supervillain name would you give the Ebon-Hotstreak fusion from the final?
>>151106651A 6-foot-tall rubberband could easily kill you
>>151111584Burning Cross
>>151111584Ebony and Ivory
>>151108682>Virgil getting caught up in a gang war because he just wanted some bullies off his back was far more real.Yeah, it works because it taps into a universal issue of kids throwing away their lives for the sake of peer pressure. Vergil chose to be better than that and was rewarded with the power to help others going through similar circumstances. Ebon is what happens when all you have is peer pressure.Having Vergil start off with him doing with what he believes to be right nukes the narrative throughline of his entire arc. It tries to have it backwards with the power he's given goes to his head instead, and it just doesn't work.
