I remember the first episode I saw was the one with the glowing space-god thing and because it opens in medas res and has a larger cast I mistook the show as having an ongoing plot.

Peter Chung got soft blackballed in animation after Reign. He finally got to make a proper anime with Reign but went over budget and demanding a-list voice actors, including John DiMaggio, who at the time was suddenly in high demand because of Futurama and only did like two episodes voicework before the money men cut Chung off and forced him to get literal who non union voice actors to finish dubbing the series.
