And then all of a sudden this season it's gone, and it doesn't burn down or anything. Randy specifically sells it. He sells his tegridy. That exact pun is used. It felt deliberate. And now we get this episode, where Matt and Trey show they're aware of the backlash to this season, but they pretend not to understand the real reasons people are annoyed. Wanting more of the actual main characters is just one part of it. But its also because: they already spent years on Trump. They're giving us shitty five episode "seasons" with weeks between episodes. And most importantly, because the jokes are unfunny and rehashed from past seasons, and Matt and Trey spent years refusing to engage with anything the Democrats were doing. It's damaged their credibility as satirists. Mocking both sides was what gave them their power. Now they just sound like they're being paid by the Democratic Party to "own" Trump every week, and they're mining Reddit for episode ideas. People think they're lazy and they sold out for their billions. Putting it all together with the massive debt we all know they're in, and the truly insane amount of money Paramount just paid them, I can't help but feel like that's exactly what happened. The Trump jokes are lazy and the episodes are late all the time because their hearts aren't in it.
