Americans will try to fight the threat, and Europeans will try to understand it. However, the average Jap is a browbeaten powerless bugman, a replaceable cog in an endless machine, and he knows it. His people have lived on an island where random death from natural disaster, war, and unpredictable events are common, and the only way to make it through is grovel and beg, be it to your lord, to the gods, to the land, etc. And if it fails and you die, no big deal, you are replaceable. They deified their natural disasters as a result, and the point of Japanese horror is not to fight it or understand it like a Westerner, but to just accept that you'll never understand what happened and die quietly, so you don't disturb the others trying to do their job. Your life is transient and fleeting, so why rail against something you have no control over? It's why their ghost stories in comparison are so out of band - in death, as a vengeful ghost, the Jap finally tastes a crumb of power that he could never feel while alive, and now gets to inflict that random death on others, becoming a universe-scale threat not to other people, but to the important part - society.

Doing my dailies for Nikkers, holy shit the minigame is awful and tedious, was not expecting a fucking Fallout Shelter copycat that is somehow even worse and boring. Also did some Helldiving on Oshaune, helped kill a few Hive Lords, or would have if the fuckers would stop despawning after getting their armor plates broken. Also beat Lace 2 in Silksong, so just going about doing stuff I hadn't done, like getting the double jump which makes the glide finicky as fuck. Need to get back to Rebirth, since I still have three chapters to go on Hard Mode and finally work on doing the VR battles.

As hard as they tried to recapture that tone and comedy of the original series, it really fell short in that regard. And they always will, because they aren't planned the way Toriyama planned out the series, which was by the hair of his ass. C+ for effort though.
