Hey /co/. I just won a hundred dollar voucher to my local comic store which means I can get anything there for free as long as it's under $100. I have never read/bought comics in my life. What is something in particular I should start out with or look for while I'm there?
>>151102657When buying comics, what you really want are "key issues." Which usually means the first appearance of a character. The Key Collector app has the key issues of comic runs. Batman Adventures 12 is the first appearance of Harley Quinn and worth a good chunk of money. Batman Adventures 11 and 13 are near worthless. If they have other things like board games and tabletop RPGs, I'd rather buy those things though. I'd rather just buy board games I can play with my friends
>>151102678Buying comics like they are an investment is a stupid gambit. This type of thinking is part of why The Death of Superman ended up so popular, because back when it came out you had a bunch of people who didn't even care about comics buying up a bunch of copies because they thought they would be rare highly valuable collector's items in the future.Well that never happened because millions of copies of that issue exist.>Batman Adventures 12 is the first appearance of Harley QuinnMaybe in comics but Harley Quinn existed as a character in the animated Batman series first before ever being a comic character.
>>151102657The Simpsons. You pretty much can get an overview of tons of other comics through their comics. So you can cast a large net if you're interested. They basically cover all kinds of references. Kind of meta though. If you want something obscure, try find a nintendo comic. The Sonic series. Superman, Batman, Spiderman. Marvel. DC. In fact, read a few Simpsons comics and then decide to buy. Warner Bros. Disney. Upstart comics no one has ever heard of. Archie if you want to go retro. Travelling to Paris? Want some Eurojargon? Try some Tintin. Asterix and Obelix. It's your choice. Enjoy.
Whatever you think looks interesting :)
>>151102657There are usually also toys and cards in these kinds of places if you can't decide.
