Yesterday, Puma got his groove back, Punisher wasn't dead, and we learned the true origins of the first CarrionToday it's another identity crisis with the Chameleon>previous threadshttps://pastebin.com/BEpFQKL5
Jumping straight to it today
I like that Untold Tales means the return of these classic gangster types
>>151110621That's ridiculous! There is no "other Spider-Man"!
Woah it's the rocket broom
These books make really good appetizers for threads
Oh noNot him
>>151110929Oh Ashley, you idiot
Oh, it's time for a Flash arc
Any 25 year old wash outs here?
>>151110778>>151110790Looks like the Headsman... got his tail kicked.
I bet that's really the real Dr. Kafka
GaspWho could have seen this coming?
It's the return of the return of the Mad Dog Ward
Happy Halloween everybody
>>151111241>>151111259Well, this new Jack's a step up in the creepy department, that's for sure.
>>151110809I wonder what it would be like to read all these add on stories in chronological order with the OG AMS issues.
>>151110621I love Spidey fighting gangsters. If he truly is supposed to be a "friendly neighborhood spider-man", he'd be busting drug dealers and taking down organizations, not fighting beings from other dimensions or genetic mutations that exist to sell action figures
Was John playing hide 'n seek or what was going on there?
>>151110991>fan clubReally, not going with, "Hey, remember that time you GF left you for her husband's cult run by a space wolf man pretending to be Hitler and we fought side by side with a trucker dressed like a pig?"
>>151110488>>151110575>>151110705I might have a new favourite Spider-Man artist, I love how Pat Oliffee draws him. Getting some major Erik Larsen vibes while still standing on its own
>>151111076Okay, so this is a new Jack o Lantern sine we just saw the old one/hobgoblin2 die.
>>151111141How much longer till someone fixes Doc Ock?Wait, we've already had 2 books about retconning Spiderman villains, It would make sense for Doc Ock to be next.
>>151111259Oh, oh yes. This is such a FUCKING step up.
>>151111559I honestly don't know how or when Doc Ock comes backAnd he just straight up killed by Kaine, there was no room for a miraculous escape, we saw the bodySo unless he developed super octopus regeneration or it was an LMD I'm tentatively curious for what the writer's pull out of their butt
>>151111602>I don't careI really wish we had that attitude when Harry was having one of his episodes.
Same for whatever is going on here, it's going to need a pretty good explanationBut because JMD wrote both KLH and this I'm willing to give it a shot
>>151111661Okay, I know Kraven doesn't come back till we are post Civil War, so who the hell is this fucker?
>>151111702Dude, how the hell is this a downgrade from 2 issues ago?
It drives me crazy in the best way that because we're still in a Chameleon story I can't trust anything that's happening
>>151111866This is a good moment. Fuck, at this rate with no breaks, with could be at OMD in about a year.
>>151111866I like how prepared she was for this. Has she spent a lot of time thinking about it? Is it just something you have to have in your pocket when you're married to a spaz like Pete? I don't know, but I like it.
>>151111951>Has she spent a lot of time thinking about it?I mean, I think every hero should have a "oh shit, I got unmasked" plan in their back pocket.
>>151111141>I wonder if he's a clo... nah that's too far fetchedPeter, you should know better than anyone else that it's totally within reason for Doc Ock to be a clone
>>151112011We are now in an era where we can make fun of the clone saga.
The twist!
>>151112175>>151112183The Kraveneleon!
>>151112233Identity Crisis already?!
>>151112248Already!
>>151112144We are like, ONE step away from him saying that they were lovers. It really fees like the DeMatteis wanted to make them gay lovers but was held back. Is it gay if it's with the Chameleon? I mean, how could you ever tell the difference?
>>151112368>>151112376All I can say is... LOL.
MJ used to own a gun, right?
>>151112368Oh boy, a team up. I hope spiderman has to fight side by side with Frogman.
>>151112095As in the era when the comics were written, or like we the readers are in that era now?
>>151112490How the fuck does he DO that?!
>>151112508Both.
>>151112456Hey it's that panel!
>>151112513Maybe we'll never know
>>151112520*That* panel?
That'll be it for tonightMuch less of a twisty roller coaster than I hoped/fearedTomorrow we'll be reading more Sensational
>>151112550Thanks for storytiming, Magister!
>>151112529People like to post this when talking about Peter losing his cool or not taking responsibility for his actions
>>151112248Wrong one
>>151110984Not for nothing, but shouldn’t foggy be like a decade older than Pete and his friends? Both he and Matt were full fledged lawyers with their own firm when Pete got his powers
>>151112517How long ago was the clone crisis in comparison to these comics? It must've been relatively recent if MJ is talking about moving to Portland and Aunt May is 100% dead
>>151112733Were probably about a year out from Ben’s death in reality but I doubt that in universe more than a month or two passed
>>151112757As of >>151008804 it's been one month
>>151110538It just now occurred to me that while Peter is married to MJ, he's dating Betty in this flashback series. I wonder if writers and editors yearned for Peter to be unmarried with Clone Saga behind them. And this title was the workaround for the time.
>>151112837I really can't understand the mentalityAs this very thread proves the marriage is very strong and elevates both characters at the cost of... what?
>>151112873All I can think is that Marvel wanted a relatable Spider-Man and they must've thought that the average spidey buyer was a teen or in their 20s but that doesn't seem likely. I've heard that the average comic buyer is in their 30s to 40s or older. But Marvel wanted a young Spider-Man that was Peter in some way. And that's how we ended up with the Clone Saga and why it fell apart. And then they settled for a deal with the devil.
>>151112975I know I didn't start buying comics until I was about 30It's a total boomer hobby
>>151112975>marvel thinks boys want to self insert as a young boy>they don't want to self insert as the handsome guy with a smoking hot, loyal, funny wifeThis is why they almost went bankrupt in the 90s
>>151110531>>151110515I wonder if this was intended as a parody of how villains tend to just have revenge against last defeat as motivation after a while.
>>151110589It isn't quite as overkill as both Iron Man and Thor against fur theft.
>>151110880So what is the current status of recidivism among super-villains at this point?
>>151111416What the heck? Sounds like the old stories were crazy.
>>151114281Spectacular Spider-Man 12-15
>>151114383Huh. I read a black and white reprint collection of that as a kid, but all I remember are teamed up with Moon Knight, teamed up with Daredevil while temporarily blind, and Carrion. I should probably go back and reread the old ones since I started with ones posted here from the 90s.
>>151111215Killa Killa Chameleon
Using this thread since it's the only Spiderman thread up currently.Does anyone know the artist of this?
>>151110488Bump
bumping!
>>151111332It's really weird though that's mostly due to the originals also being all over the place and kinda bad
>>151110549Shit I forgot Betty was jealous of that one blonde girl, I’m on the Lee romita run and she’s gotten sidetracked so hard, like so much shit has happened it’s crazy
>>151111038>I'm 25 and my life is already over!
>>151111017>>151111038>>151111062This was…. Really awesome to read, inspiring even
>>151113292Didio and Quesada both seemed to hate marriages in general. And seeing how a lot of couples get broken up I wonder why a lot of people in editorial feel that way. And while all that's happening you see Clark and Lois being married for decades, only getting unmarried because of the New 52 but that was a reboot that was undone/merged with the married versions. The only other married couple that seems to have been doing well is Aquaman and Mera aside from the years she went crazy and tried to kill Arthur.
>>151116826Spidey and Flash have an awesome relationship at times. Personally, I like to think that Pete gets a lot out of being able to talk to somebody like that.
>>151110549kek parker luck
>>151110575It's very weird seeing ditko era pete change into a more modern spider-man design
>>151112260>We should just hold a press conference, announce it to the world, and get it over with.Haha, imagine.
>>151110717I don't know why but I really like spider-man's quips here. Feels like actual trash talk/banter instead of him just saying stuff
>>151110929I miss when comics used to look like this
bump
>>151110531Clever, Peter. But aren't you being irresponsible? You're letting the dangerous murderous lunatic go.
>>151119095Well he did ask him if he had any villainous schemes planned for after this
>>151110531>wotta maroonI read that in the bugs bunny voice.
>>151111038>>151116759Why does it feel like that tho? Like I wasnt even as popular as Flash in high school, and I never got the knockout girlfriend like Peter. My life at 25 really does feel over
>>151110488bump
>>151110790I liked the Headsman and Scorcher. They're pretty good alongside Commanda as villains to pad out more of Spidey's C-list and more of the Marvel U. Also Headsman alongside Proto Goblin being guinea pigs for Norman to use before later becoming the goblin and then taking out each is one of the few times these prequel series felt more satisfying. Headsman's combo of axe and Jack O' Lantern type craft is also cool. I also would not mind if the Goblin or Hobgoblin started using axes and swords from time to time besides that one time with Phil Urich. Or Headsman being GG's main right hand man that he uses like a Harley Quinn could also be interesting. I know GG and Spidey work good as getting their hands dirty and going directly to each other but Headsman being used again in some other way like when Norman was in prison in the 00's, is fine with me.
>>151111270Considering how many different Jacks there are, I'm surprised one didn't team up with a Jack Frost yet. Overkill joke version would be having 5 Jacks of All Trades with members being Lantern, Frost, Ripper, Giant-Killer, and Spring-Heel. And maybe a Jill.
>>151112376Ignoring how I think Gibbon reformed in his last appearance, Spot really doesn't seem to match this group. He isn't fuzzy so you have to get less literal like calling him a dalmatian or something. Plus his powerset is very out there compared to an otherwise physical gang.
>>151121517>Spot really doesn't seem to match this group. That's not the group theme.
>>151122267And yet Hypno Hustler and Big Wheel don't show up.
>>151115913looks like poor's man Marko Djoverivic.
>>151119498It's understandable to feel that way, but you've gotta realize that there's more to life than peaking in highschool and getting a model wife in your early 20s. You're comparing yourself to people who have had entirely different life paths than you and ended up standing out while ignoring the millions of people in your exact same situation or doing way worse than you. But no matter where you are, you're probably doing pretty average and can still easily take your life in whatever direction you want.Oh but if you're 26 then it's all fucking over, you fucked up bad, you might as well just kill yourself rather than prolonging your suffering.
