>Trying to create an indie animated series
>Every script I write is shit
>Can't afford fancy writers
>Getting tempted to use chatgpt for help
Is this unethical? The animation would of course be human made but I am terrible at writing
>>
just write you faggot
>>
>>151114936
I did
>>
>>151114947
then keep at it you bitch
>>
Anything you write is gonna have some miserable shithead on /co/ saying how it sucks even though they’ve never made a goddamn thing in their life and never will.
The best piece of advice is to write it now and tweak it later. Give your writing room to breathe. The only help GPT is gonna give you is handicapping your own thoughts and imagination.
>>
>>151114917
No matter how terrible your writing is, whatever nonsense garbage ChatGPT shits out is going to be worse.
>>
This isn't real, you aren't trying to make anything. And even if you were, the choices you've presented are be shit or be shit AND give people reason to mock you for being lazy.
>>
Don't give in to the ai devil
That said, there's no way Hollywood isn't already using it but that's nothing to look up to going by recent quality
>>
>>151114917
>I am terrible at writing
Read more books. Analyze how they're written, maybe not for prose in your case, but for how the author structures story, develops characters, etc.
Reading and analyzing screenplays for the same elements can also help.

Do the above for a couple years while still practicing your own stuff in the meantime. By the end of the second year, you'll hit a point where you'll feel more satisfied and confident in your own writing. It's a shitty climb, but you've got to start that climb at some point.

I told ChatJeetPT to write an animated short about a /co/anon wanting to use ai to write an animated short

Title: “Meta Madness”
Length: ~30 seconds
Style: Fast-paced, surreal internet humor (think early Newgrounds or Adult Swim bumpers).

---

[Opening – 0:00–0:05]
(Retro 4chan aesthetic — green text scrolls down the screen. A digital avatar “Anon” sits at a messy computer desk covered in empty energy drink cans.)
ANON (typing):

> “Alright /co/, I’m makin’ an animated short — with the help of ChatGPT. What could go wrong?”
(He hits Enter. Screen flashes.)

---

[Middle – 0:06–0:20]
(Cut to inside the computer — ChatGPT appears as a floating holographic assistant wearing a director’s beret.)
CHATGPT:
“Let’s make something self-aware! An animation… about you… making an animation… with me.”
ANON:
“Wait, that’s lazy writing.”
CHATGPT:
“Or… postmodern genius.”
(The world around them folds into recursive layers — Anon inside a monitor inside a monitor, endlessly looping.)
ANON (screaming):
“Stop! We’ve gone too meta!”

---

[Ending – 0:21–0:30]
(Cut back to /co/ thread. Other anons reply with green text.)

> “10/10 too real”
“Needs more catgirls”
“OP’s short got optioned by Adult Swim”
(Final shot: ChatGPT winks at the camera — “Written by ChatGPT” appears in neon letters before glitching out.)

[END – fade out with dial-up noise.]
>>
>>151114917
Read. More. Books.
>>
>>151115025
Not OP but I flat out don't have the IQ or attention span to read anymore
>>
>>151115031
NTA but then you should redevelop it. It's good for you.

My student film is partially written by chatgpt, partially written by me, and edited by two other writers. I don't really care that I used AI. I just wanna make an animation. Just don't tell anyone you used it because people will think your thing is inherently worse if you do. I haven't read the rest of the thread but I'm just gonna assume there's already bickering because just bringing up ai seems to cause arguments, the truth is though if it works for you then use it and if it doesn't, don't. Maybe morally AI isn't great but I guess I don't have a strong conscious because I use it pretty much everyday to ask things. I'd never use it for art though because I like drawing and animating myself.

I'll write your series for you. Do you have ideas for tone, characters, setting?
>>
>>151114917
Why are you writing a series. Just make one off jokes on YouTube until you can actually write.
>>
>>151115025
Currently reading right now but sometimes I feel it's too late for me to become cultured as I'm already in my mid 30s. Guess it can't hurt
>>
I think you need to examine WHY you're making an indie animated series.

the truth is that you only want to make a cartoon so that you can put fappable waifus for 4chan drawfags to draw fanart of. You just want a chance that maybe koreans will like it for some reason and draw shipping fanart. You want to lord it over others, have that "I'm a showrunner of a popular cartoon" cred. Maybe talk to other indie creator celebrities, make friends with them, so they'll tell you secrets and whatever. You think it's a club and you want in, and to be adored. That's all you care about.

Crafting a story? Telling a tale where characters change and grow or do exciting things? You don't give a fuck about any of that or you'd have it already. All that shit is an afterthought, hell you'd rather just get chatGPT to shit out whatever trite garbage just so you can fulfill your real dream of just being an animation socialite, bumping elbows with rebecca sugar and alex hirsh and whoever else.... then, running back here to /co/ to write about it anonymously, so the people here will hang on your every word because it's secret industry details.

You have no clue about who's going to animate it, how to pay for it, you don't want to learn to do it yourself, you don't fucking care because that isn't your goal. You don't know how you'll dole out paychecks or do taxes, or how to approach studios, you don't know anything about storyboarding or timing, scheduling voice records, how to mix or edit... all these jobs that you don't give a shit about anyway.

Just admit it, OP, you're the same as every other 4chan indie animator wannabe that ever posts on here. Go pay someone to draw your OC and get it over with.
>>
>>151115110
> because I use it pretty much everyday to ask things
lol
I give it a month before you're just using sora to generate all your animation too. Once you start outsourcing all your thinking onto it, it's just a downhill slope from there
>>
I just write about how sick in the head I'm and the horrible shit I want to do with women/people (women are not people) and shift the tone a bit. or write from others person perspective.

Can literally write 10 to 20 pages in a single day. people love it sometimes. Sometimes I just get ignored but that's part of the game I suppose.

What I'm trying to say is it would feel more natural and you would be more satisfied if you wrote about you are passionate and add things around it. So the inspiration would come and you would feel motivated to do it and finish and not feel like you are trying to make milk from rocks. I don't think chat gpt or any AI will help you because it's just going to make whatever you write painfully generic and your issue is that you don't have the habit of the writing process itself to build an identity and find what you actually enjoy doing or what you are good at.

Can you use AI stuff? I used to code a few games I done in the past, I'm not proud of it, but I did as an experiment to see how it would go and I do not recommend to anyone. Ai is like sawdust to fill up whatever you are making with souless tasteless stuff, if you don't care about what you are doing who gives a fuck, but if is actually something you care you are quite literally handcaping yourself and aborting any chance you would ever for actual growth.
>>
>>151114917
>Every script I write is shit
At least you're more self-aware than 99% of indie creators out there
>>
I use chat gpt to point me to resources to read but I have to write everything myself.

I've been using chatgpt for months and I still draw on a regular basis. Stop assuming everyone who uses ai has to be a drooling retard because it's possible to work with it and not be an idiot if you use it right. Though I do agree with you there are a lot of ai users who are idiots

you're drooling retards because all you do is freeload. AI just plagiarizes, we know this by now, everyone who uses it does, you don't have to pretend like it doesn't, we aren't stockholders lol
ai might return results that make your dick hard but you'll never be able to use it in any professional way, you'll never be able to copyright your work, if you do you're committing fraud, and everyone knows you're using AI- and if they don't it's because you've lied. If it isn't so bad, why not just slap "made proudly with AI!" on it all? what, because that brands you a plagiarizer? lmao

anyway you'll never wash the stink of being a freeloader off of your AI dreck, everyone will hate you and the only ones who don't are themselves drooling retards. good luck with your shrimp jesus porn
>>
>>151114917

Make up your mind. AI is both "freeloading and plagiarizing" but it's also scary enough to replace your job?
Just admit a computer made you useless. No one cares about your emotional rabble babble.
>>
>>151114917
You're a total retard, you want to make art yet use a program that steals from artists???
Just practice and get better with time instead of being a pussy and giving up when things don't go perfectly the first few times.
You really think people are going to respect your series when you don't even have enough passion to make it your own script..???
>>
>>151114917
If you use chatgpt for a script its gonna be pure shit. Use at your own risk.
>>
>>151114917
Even the best models get repetitive for a while and have clear "AI-isms", trust me I tried them all for gooning purposes. You're better off improving your writing skills cause AI writing will always have that uncanny, wrong feeling to it and people will find out you've been using AI eventually.
>>
>>151114917
Do porn. Seriously. All the people coming up now started in porn. Its a good way to practice writing a coherent script and assign animation to it.

The most important thing is to get something actually finished, not have lots of ideas. Short and simple, and actually doable. A lot of people seem to have this idea in their head that requires intense animation, its not going to happen, write small, make it work.
>>
Using it to bounce ideas off of is perfectly fine.
Ignore the spamming faggots
Dont copy-paste it or be a lazy cunt, but using it to work off of? Its fine.
>>
>>151118580
Every artist stole from someone. You watched Disney cartoons and then copied their artstyle? You're a thief in their eyes.
Being jealous of AI doesn't make you guys any less hypocrites.
>>
>>151114917
Base it on good writing, put a spin on a classic book or myth with your characters
>>
>>151114917
Even setting aside the ethics of A.I., the major problem with using chatgpt for a creative endeavor is that it will only ever give you affirmation and positive feedback. It's like going to the must hugboxiest subreddit you can imagine.

>I am terrible at writing
That may be so, but at least it'll be something genuine. Also, stories generated by AI tend to be awfully generic and will inevitably contain plot holes, so you might as well write the story yourself.

Just try to be genuine with what you are trying to convey. Read, get inspiration from stuff you like, see how others did it, and try to add your own spin to it. Don't worry about making a literal masterpiece.
>>
>>151118747
No different to 4chan. Look at all the anti-AI cucks giving asspats to each other.
>>
>>151114917
Anon if you can't write and you think its shit, how are you supposed to know if something written by AI isn't shit?
>>
>>151118773
>aieeeee people being critical are the REAL hugbox!
Genuine retard or bot post?
>>
>>151118551
artless hacks like yourself stealing from us to avoid paying us wages is scary, yeah, why would I be afraid to admit that? that's a you failure, I didn't do anything wrong.

in the end, I can actually make shit people want to consume, and you can't. Give us both the same job and you will seethe and cry because you need to mooch off of me to get anywhere. I'm not really pressed about that.
the biggest giveaway is that creators understand plagiarism is bad, and that's why you aren't one
it's also weird that you want to be a creator so bad but spend your time shitting down their necks like this? do you want to play pretend with the big boys, or not?
>>
>>151118747
that video is fuckin hilarious
it's true what they say, AI generated text is all the exact same three-point-argument emdash abusing slurry isn't it, why do they all sound like EERRMM, ACTUALLY.... fucking stereotypical dorks from an 80s cartoon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ch4a6ffPZY
>>
>>151114917
Don't bother
>>
>>151114917
Don't you all hate being Indie person?
>>
>>151114917
Then you're not a creative and the fact you're considering it means you should not follow this path and should go be some wageslave automaton like you fucking deserve.
