Even as an adult I still have no idea why my parents were so against me watching the Simpsons. I was obsessed with it because it had a goofy bald guy with a funny voice getting into wacky misadventures with his family, much to the chagrin of my parents who kept telling me to turn off the TV as they told me repeatedly that the Simpson was not appropriate for me. Never quite understood this, the absolute worst thing that happened to me when watching the Simpson was some of their more mature jokes went over my head but that was about it.It was especially odd because at the same time they were fine with letting me watch stuff like Passion of the Christ, Scream and fucking robocop. Yet somehow Simpsons crossed the line.When I turned 17 they stopped giving a shit and ever since then I was free to watch all of the Simpsons episodes I wanted. But still I haven’t forgotten their odd antagonism towards the Simpsons

My parents asked me and my brothers not to watch them until we were a little older because some of the more mature sexual jokes. We were around 6 to 8 years old back then. Once we all hit the 11 to 13 mark they had no problem with us watching and would even join in sometimes. Fairly reasonable, I’d say.
