I saw the Family Guy Halloween special after not watching Family Guy for 10 years. What the fuck happened to this show? It's actually worse than zombie Simpsons. Meanwhile, American Dad remains consistent.Out of numerous issues with this show, two are most prominent.Firstly, there is the formulaic nature of this show. Every A plot is always:>Peter and Louis/or the BoysWhile B plot in EVERY episode is:>Brian and StewieCompare this to American Dad, which pairs up with everyone equally. The second issue is everyone's personality. There is no consistency. The worst offender is Peter, whose reaction might vary from a straight man to a retard. It's their personality that bends to fit a joke, in contrast to the Simpsons' style of jokes, where they wrote the jokes to fit characters.Either way, the Halloween Special was so generic, and safe I was surprised they didn't give Chat GPT writing credit.
All these zombie shows need to die. The only exception is American dad.
You watched 1 episode and somehow worked out the entire formula for every episode?
>>151130773am I not right in presuming that have continued the same shit they did 10 years ago?
>>151130707I still find Family Guy entertaining enough, this Halloween "special" included. What bugged me personally was the ending song the episode hyped up turning out to be some lame forgettable showtune. I expected better from this show; they're capable of writing more impactful holiday numbers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaIPwgKKmUQ

Barring some exceptions (Quagmire le rapist, Clelveland le black) they can and do just swap them out at random with little to no difference.
Family Guy died around Season 5. Just move on.
>>151131077> they're capable of writing more impactful holiday numbers>links to All I Want For Christmas>released 15 years agoNo, anon they are not. Writing staff is not the same it was 15 years ago.All good writers have been poached by better shows
>>151131186I think American Dad did halloween special like two years ago, I wonder if is good
>American Dad remains consistentIt may not have zombied out as hard as the likes of Simpsons or South Park, but it's hard to call it consistent when the quality dropped so abruptly when it first moved network.
>>151130707Why is Peter such a fatass
>>151131186>Stewie le gay>Joe le cripple>Herbert le pedo
>>151132521Does Herb even show up anymore?
>>151132537Think German Guy last episode where he appeared, at least had voice role and that aired in 2011
>>151132567holy shit no way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIhR4UUtw74
>>151131481What can we expect with the move back to FOX?
>>151131186Langley has fallen
>>151130707Shows need to just not ever last 20+ years. They need to fucking end already and be replaced by other things. Let others get a chance to make something.Fox's current policy of never ever let any series end no matter what is just as bad as their previous policy of cancel everything after the second episode.
>>151133194It won't come back to the old quality. Every media production in the Anglosphere in the past decade (at least) has just been a tribute to The Monkey's Paw.

>>151131212*Season 9
Why do people use Peter as an example of flanderization? Out of all the characters in Family Guy, he’s changed the least.
>>151130707>compare this to American DadCan we not every time there's a Family Guy thread? It's mostly to say it's a better show. I get why, but episodes have been very hit and miss in the last few seasons. More the latter.
>>151136016You can argue he's had the reverse effect. Peter isn't as much of a psychopath these recent years, and even is nice to Meg at times
>>151130707I really hate it when family guy does the whole explain the joke thing
>>151136081i dont, is funny and relateable
>>151135902What's that blue thing under the mailbox?
>>151136674Newspaper box.
>>151136769Huh. I'm surprised they still have it.
>>151136016he used to actually be a character, the main character, and not just a guy that only exists to explains the joke
>>151136241i agree i'm too stupid to understand the joke so i need the characters to explain it to me its very relatable
>>151130707>Meanwhile, American Dad remains consistent.Way to expose yourself as a dadder. You guys are annoying af
>>151135902Season 4*
>>151137415Seasons 1-3 were good but tame and lame af. Seasons 4-7 had much funnier jokes and are what put the show on the map
>>151133194weegee jumpscare
>>151137441And Season 8?
>>151133194I'm a TBS dadder so I assume bits going to be worse, but if it's not then great.
>>151131077Seth sure does love his showtunes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClC4s6EXyn4
>>151130773Yes.
>>151130707Shows are meant to turn into shit sooner or laterSimpsons is a pile of rotten, putrid shit for years already but here you are mentioning it as if it was not the case.
Now that the dust has settled and the exploded engines extinguished, what was even the point of this character?
>>151140909Failed attempt at a second Bertram
>>151140243Joe is so funny when he loses his cool haha
>>151133315>Shows need to just not ever last 20+ yearsthisIt's probably good thing Solar Opposites ended in relatively high note before becoming zombifiied like RIck and MOrty
>>151136016Peter hasn't been flanderized, it's more like his entire character has been replaced. It's like has 5 different alter-egos>straight man>man child>retard>genius>sadistic asshole>insecure fat guyPeople say Homer is Flanderized, but at least he is consistent from episode to episode, so you can predict how he reacts to stuff
>>151133315Anon there has been at least a couple of shows on air at the time run for decades with the earliest ones starting in the 50s and going to the 70s.And I'm not talking like soaps, TV that people like stuck around.Like a personal favorite that had an 11 year run was Mash, which had 3 golden season, 2 seasons of garbage, and then a solid if not as good 6 season run after.
>>151130707
>>151130707while we are talking about Family Guy, ca we talk about Cleveland Show?I find it interesting it was canceled because Fox considered the average viewership of 3 million too low.Meanwhile, Rick and Morty never even reached 2.5 million views, and last two seasons, their average has been 0.4 million views, yet they keep getting renewed for more seasons.I guess FOX's standards are much higher
