Angel doesn’t feel bad at all about the drugs or sex, but bringing up his dad’s murder hits a nerve. Pentious was a peeping tom, and he was probably selling weapons when he was alive, but he apparently doesn’t give that much thought and he’s far more concerned about not coming forward about witnessing a murder. Even Alastor admits the day before he dies that he believes he is going to Hell. He admits he understands that being a serial killer is wrong. Maybe Angel did kill regular mooks as part of his mafia business, but it could be he just saw that as regular tit for tat gangster turf war junk, same way a soldier might not think killing his enemy counts as murder. But he definitely doesn’t like people bringing up that he killed his dad. That’s where he draws his line. And because this is just a cartoon and things need to be simple for the audience, the narrative can’t overly concern itself with each character’s many many sins, so it’s building a formula where everybody gets assigned one big one to tackle.
