I think, fundamentally speaking, western comics have too much self loathing to ever produce anything genuine ever againYou have to kind of not give a shit about politics to make something that resonates, ironically
white savior boomer shitlibs will never not be hilarious
>>151132758>implying some of the greatest works of art aren't just drunk russians openly despising themselves, russia as a country, russia as an idas, and how the booze is meh. You're going to get incoming great depression 2 kino and you're not even going to be able to recognize it as such.
>>151132758>You have to kind of not give a shit about politics to make something that resonates, ironicallyOnly if you mean politics as teams instead of values.
>>151132758Families can be deported together
>>151132758The only things they're experiencing in their otherwise eventless lives is viewed through the news or social media. They have no philosophical foundation, no real values, no genuine human connection to the people around them. They're alienated from their families, their friends, and their communities. So what the fuck do they have to say about anything? What possible insight or point of view do they offer to anyone? But they write and create anyways, despite having a void where their soul should be, because they mistake the promise of attention and validation as the creative fulfillment they think they deserve.
There's just not enough variety in the perspectives of the people making comics, so you end up with a lot of stuff being made by the same people who all have the same perspective and beliefs.
These people have done nothing in their lives but surf social media and write comics. They never had a real job, they never had real experiences, their brain is outsourced to social media, and on top of that they don't know the fundamentals of storytelling. The best writers have full lives and can translate that perspective to the page.
>>151132758Obvious ragebait is obvious, but shit like this is exactly why the US is getting nuked
It's niñes
>>151132758You just can’t relate because you’re the one they’re critiquing. Non cult members on the other hand are not triggered when nazis are depicted as bad. 10 years ago the bad guys were all Russian. There’s always new assholes to make fun of in comics
>>151133260only burgerland has nuked people
>>151133331You will be Latinx and you will like it.
>>151133401>non cult>woke mob
>>151133436That word has no meaning because you morons call everyone you disagree with woke. Ok I’m woke, whatever, can we move on to the part where pedophile Jews run our government
>>151133457>calls everyone he disagrees with nazis
>>151132758A good grasp on politics is better. We just need good writers. A lot of these political comics are written by sheep to piss off opponent sheep. >>151133484We need more sexy women too.
>>151132758It would be funnier if it had a basedjacks on it.
>>151133714>A good grasp on politics is betterSo George Lucas then. Dude had too good a grasp on politics that too many people didnt get it and bitched.
>>151134101The prequels are basically the fall of the Roman Republic/the rise of the Third Reich in space. There's a mythic quality to them in part because they're drawing on periods of history where history itself took on a mythic quality.Honestly that's the problem with so many of these modern political comics, they're just so fucking mundane. They're BORING. There's no high drama, there's no grand characters, there's no operatic emotion, there's no titanic stakes. They're mundane and you can't do mundane comics about these sorts of subjects. Not if you want to hold the reader's attention.
>>151132758>>151132860>ou have to kind of not give a shit about politics to make something in genre fiction that resonates, ironicallyFIFY
>>151134172That might be why every little thing is framed as Nazi takeovers because otherwise normies don't care as long as they're left alone.
>>151133028You could say this about all modern media unfortunately, maybe mass culture plus the smart phone is a fatal combination for creativity.

>>151134885The beyonder.
>>151134101>>151134172The prequels are boring, though. Terrible characters played by bad actors, some played badly by good actors, too much reliance on CGI, and generally ugly designs and aesthetics.
>>151134957Seeking asylum is 100% legal. The US signed the refugee convention act.
>>151132758Who made this? The dude on the right looks like he is having a mental breakdown over doing this while the dude on the left looks stoned and sexually aroused.
>>151132758>politics ruined western comics!!!No, politics ruined your fucking brain. You are permanently incapable of enjoying anything because you are so primed to see politics in everything, and specifically the politics that outrage you, even when it's not there. You actively seek out the things that piss you off and then you claim all of civilization is dying from it because you essentially have the memetic equivalent of a brain tumor, and you are incapable of seeing anything without the lens of some retarded internet political fight whose relevance is fading. As you grow older, this will make you appear to be more and more schizophrenic.
OP is just farming engagement with thinly disguised politics threads. He probably got this from Reddit or Instagram from some boomer tier four panel comic creator. And is that a fucking iphone filename?
>>151133457You are once again accusing every one of doing what you do Mr. everyone I dislike is a Nazi/fascist.
avoid mainstream shit. problem solved.

You know, sometimes it feels like the "they never had any real experience" thing is a projection from the audience. Could still be true, but I won't lie and say it doesn't come off as the audience just not wanting to hear anything real to begin with. Oh, the artist is writing about familiar, recognizable things that a lot of people go through? They're tapping into a shared cultural continuity, and this is a bad thing? I thought you people wanted to have a stable monoculture again.Shitty audiences deserve shitty artists.
>>151137648>Oh, the artist is writing about familiar, recognizable things that a lot of people go through? The problem is that they do so poorly and from a perspective that most people would find grating. If you're a shitty, annoying person, then I'm not going to care if you go through things that I recognize or might even sympathize with, I'm probably not going to like what you make because it's made from the perspective of a shitty person. This kinda shit is why the industries this board is dedicated to are both basically on their deathbeds.
>>151137648>shared cultural continuitySuch as?
>>151132758Moore cared a ton about politics but never at the expense of the story he was telling and the characters. There's something more there than just a seething power fantasy, they have things to say.
>>151134997>"I'm poor, therefore I'm seeking asylum"Guess I'll do the same and head to Swedeland for my gibs
>>151134990Its a classical romantic epic of a story, as told by a robot type autist
This is what I read today at the library. Dear Dad a Graphic Memoir. And it wasn't very good. It really wasn't about a girl missing her father who was incarcerated. It was more about "girl power" about a girl learning how to code. (I'm trying not to give spoilers.) It is based on real life events though. And real life is kind of boring most of the time.
>>151137648Okay, look. If you want the subtext explained to you, it's not literally a lack of experience that does it. That turn of phrase is how we relate the cause of a lack of understanding as to which parts of the subject matter are compelling to a prospective audience. It's a lot quicker to say.Art is communicative by nature, and those we are speaking of now communicate nothing save the desire for unconditionally agreeable neighbors. This is an understandable view, but not a particularly entertaining or interesting one. Fundamentally, I don't care whether they are satisfied with the company they keep, and neither do you. With that in mind, had they 'more life experience' they would know this. The focus and mentality behind which concepts are expressed would not carry the expectation of spiritual authority simply because one related one's ideas in a manner resembling other, prior works of entertainment. You still have to earn that.
>>151132758It's easy to shit on everything for being evil and racist when you have no ability to actually change things nor will you ever have the resources/opportunity to ever do soArtists still think whining as loud as possible will somehow influence somebody with power to change things they way they want to as opposed to annoying the fuck out of everyone so hard they become bigoted out of spite
