>>151137775He does not try. He puts some window dressing to seem like he's referencing Moore but in his own words he was a Marvel zombie that didn't read any Vertigo or indies. He'll maybe add some little gimmicks in to distract you from the fact that his actual stories are straight superhero comics with very average superhero style brawls and monologues but he subverts some common elements found in the "genre" and even then he's not the first or only guy in comics to for example make all the males incompetent and the females hyper-competent.
