I get what people are saying about the pacing feeling slow, but this episode juggled a lot of plot threads. The sweet spot fundraiser, Fionna and Cake's love lives, PB and friends saving Finn, HW dying of thirst, Prismo exposition, Destiny croak dream. It's the weakest episode because it's the most disjointed, but it should mean that things are well set up now.

I'm only two episodes in to the new season and I'm wondering if I should just quit. I put up with the first season despite basically being multiverse slop, but this new season is a rough watch.I find myself actively disliking the characters. Like the idea of chilling with Fin and Jake sounds awesome. Now change that idea to hanging out with Fiona, Cake and her friends, and the idea honestly strikes me as unpleasant. To put it frankly, Fiona is a bit of a cunt. I get the strong sense that if I were in the same room as the male version of bubblegum princess and Marceline they would dislike me. I've met these people before and they were not good people. This isn't anything about them being gay, everyone in this show just seems to be a shitty person taking the screen time of people I actually do like. Does it get better or can I just stop now?

Honestly Hunter should've had more scars on their back and front of their body. Battle scars, work scars, burn scars, stuff that might be unsightly. The only unscarred part would be the face. Have it not be from some surgery aside from stitched-up scars. Go with a bit of quiet horror in how he doesn't exactly remember where he got these prior to the magic fading away, yet he lives with it despite the looks he gets. While its unsettling at first to Fionna, her accepting him despite his many hypothetical scars, would be a lot more powerful messaging. It would explain his fantasy outfit in a way that was just cosmetic before, in that he chose to cover his scars and really only let his face be visible. Why if, during the fantasy time before it went away, he might've cared about Fionna but also kept a respectful relationship distance from her in him not wanting to fully commit from what she might think, in maybe not wanting to scare her off, and that he didn't want to be "soft meat" aka vulnerable. Yes I realize I put more thought into this than the showrunners.

It's not explicit that this was a flashback leading me to believe that part of the story was still in progress. This was a reference to S7E22 Crossover: where Ice Finn is seen bringing back the ice block of his parents. With Lich as Jake walking behind him. When Finn uses the magical staff Prismo gave him on Dog Lich it destroyed the Lich in Farmworld (minus the Lich hand transported to all other dimensions) and knocked the crown off of Ice Finn. Prismo then retcons the series of events to destroy the crown beneath the warhead pinning dead Simon down. It's just that Farmworld hadn't been revisted since this 2016 episode I had completely forgotten that this happened. We never see anything again from this world and it was never explicit that Finn is free from the crown's power since he was still blue when Crossover ended.
