There’s more of it. Every quarter the anime market references with a new slot of 10-20 shows of a variety of genres allowing the audience to watch whatever their personal niche is while ignoring the rest.In the west there’s maybe 5 new shows a year, and they often fall into here similar categories of animated sitcom.The average anime also only lasts 1 season, while the average western show is stuck for at least 2 unless it did abysmally.That’s honestly it. Not quality, not politics. Just sheer volume

Japan makes excellent artwork that resounds with people around the globe, but their society and work ethic is infamous for being absolutely horrible and destructive. The only people who can reasonably actually compete with Japan is the French, who respect anime, art in general, and the work that goes into it to a degree greater than, say, the USA.If you are a westerner who wants to make work that resounds with everyone, I think it's worth thinking about how to make something pretty, how to make it at a good clip, and how to write something that is compelling and enjoyable. Notably, all of this is without the more broad industry changes which need to happen to create an environment where talented western artists can be supported. In general I think the west does not really do a whole lot to foster things like discipline or talent, and there isn't a lot of respect for artistry as work. TL;DR yeah, do as you like
