Genuine question, do kids even like watching these shitty live action remakes? or do their normie millennial parents just force them to go to the theaters with them? Animation is far more appealing to children, when I was a kid I liked animated stuff a lot more than live action and the animated films I watched around then stick in my head a lot more than the live action ones. I cant see any kid liking this shit.

It's because when she voices Moana back in 2016 she was a only 15, still a teenager, just like Moana like meant to be portrait as. She's now 24, so she can't be called a teen anymore or play one. Even if she was in that Mean Girls remake last year and still done voice Moana in Disney related things and voice Hailey Banks.

And she's still young, but still, Moana was a teen in the animated version so, she needs to be play by a teen in live action.

This looks AI generated to me even though it's on Disney's official channel. Also we have reached the peak clown stupidity that I predicted with Disney remakes, where live action remakes and the original animated versions are running new movies more or less in parallel with each other. Moana 2 just came out and we already have a live action remake of Moana 1.

I predict that the live action Frozen remake will come out 1 or 2 years before Frozen 3. I am dead fucking serious.

Aside from Disney just being creatively bankrupt for decades now? It's because they need money. Star Wars costs them more money than it brings in, Marvel Studios hasn't had a successful film since Endgame that wasn't Spider-Man or Deadpool, park attendance is the lowest its ever been, their current writing room diversity hires literally can't write themselves out of a wet paper bag so any original production is doomed to failure, and the Disney+ service is hemorrhaging cash like a stuck pig.

Doing a live-action remake is the most low effort thing they can do to potentially bring in some revenue, so that's what they're going to do. Expect a live-action Wish remake within the next few years.

But this one is too similar to the CGI one. Pause that trailer near the coconut guys, you can't even tell if that's the original or the new one, with how similar they look. Just re-release the original if they wanted more money out of it.

I remember when live action remakes were created as a way to see how the story could play out in a grounded and realistic world. Pic related had a much different tone compared to the animated version before it; there were no talking animals or sing-along songs or cartoon antics, everything was grounded in reality, and that's what makes it worthy of existing alongside the animated version.

If you're just going to use CGI to make the exact same cartoon with some live actors injected into it, what's the fucking point? That CGI chicken is a perfect demonstration of everything wrong with Disney's currently running attempts at live action remakes.

Moana live action looks like garbage. That living water looks like a giant AI CGI tongue. Hei Hei looks like a demon spawn from hell.

It's a live action movie. Or at least it's supposed to be. But everything about it has that Disney CGI plasticky look. The water, trees, jungle, and village all look plasticky. Couldn't they just use more real life locations from Hawaii and various Pacific Islands? Or even find some other islands in the Caribbean that work?

Why even have Hei-Hei the chicken. He didn't even do anything in the original movie. Neither did the pig or the living water. None of the side-kicks are important to the movie- I'd rather just write them out instead of putting awful CGI clone characters in.

Maybe get a real life dog to make as Moana's sidekick. The Polynesians had dogs- although all breeds are extinct now. Maybe get Moana's little sister who stows away on the raft.

Okay, here is a genuine question. Disney is doing the Live action shit because is one of the few easy ways to do a quick buck from a IP people already recognize they have left. Even sequels now can bomb because they can't keep making more pixar sequels and is just the same story told again but this time visually worse.

But what they will do when they run out of their successful movies to make live action remakes? They are literally doing remakes of movies not even one decade old. what they have left? Wreck-It Ralph? frozen? They are running out of movies to remake, what is going to be next?
>>
>>151330023
Sequels to the successful live action films.

In all honesty, Disney is kinda fucked long term and there doesn't seem to be a Lasseter to fix them. Pixar are being left behind by Dreamworks, Sony and even Illumination, Disney Animation is in need of a princess movie that becomes popular (Penelope was rumoured to be their next one but it didn't show up at D23) and they've lost a lot of the male audience (hence that panicky leak about them needing to pivot).
>>
>>151318968
Who asked for this?
>>
>>151330194
Moana was stupidly popular and the shitty TV series turned movie printed money.

Everyone is assuming this'll make loads but they assumed the same for The Little Mermaid too.
>>
>>151327458
>None of the side-kicks are important to the movie- I'd rather just write them out instead of putting awful CGI clone characters in.
This is definitely what they should have done. Ground everything into reality and try to answer the question "What if Moana was REAL?" For example, you can still have the theme of the ocean being a guiding force, just do it without turning the ocean into a fucking CGI sock puppet. Moana might throw something into the ocean and it washes back to her, but you keep it sort of mysterious and vague instead of turning the ocean into a hand that literally picks up the object and drops it on her.

it's like capeshit, they're vanity projects for the actors whose brand image is tied to their face. a cartoon means they can't advertise their face. They don't care if literally every other prop and character in the scene is CGI and greenscreen, as long as the main actor shows off their IRL face.

Yeah, that one was good, too. It did what a live action remake is supposed to do: portray all the characters as real people and real animals and adapt the cartoon into a more realistic and/or modern scenario. If they made a 101 Dalmations live action remake today, all the dogs would be CGI talking dogs and it would follow the original cartoon beat for beat.

I didn't even realize how many bad movies Encanto is surrounded by. It's not even like Encanto was perfect, but it was at least decent.

Hands down the two worst offenders of the new slump are Wreck it Ralph 2 and Wish, though. The rest are aggressively mediocre, but those two movies in particular feel like they were precision engineered to be hated.

Kids aren't picky, they'll watch anything that's flashy enough. That doesn't excuse parents for being lazy and never bothering giving their kids some good shit once in a blue moon.

It would incorporate the Cruella movie with Emma Watson and the woke cartoon

I don't understand. Disney literally has 3 or 4 giant theme parks where actors are hired to dress up and recreate scenes from movies in real life. Now I'm no Disney fan but isn't that infinitley more meaningful than a billion dollar movie that no one wants to see? At least when you go to Disneyland and see all the actors recreating "be our guest" you can leave the park and compare how good that version was compared to the last time you were at Disneyland. This is all just a waste of money and its trying to target people who not only have no interest in going to the parks but also only care about the animated movies.Plus as others have said Moana is far too recent to be pulling this shit. I wonder whats next. Inside Out on Ice the movie?

Forgot to add on the best thing about going to a live action performance is not only the sincerity of the actors but the "scarcity" of the performance. This is why the Les Miserable and Cats musicals mogg the movie versions

More than likely. It's literally a shot or shot retelling.

>But what they will do when they run out of their successful movies to make live action remakes? They are literally doing remakes of movies not even one decade old. what they have left? Wreck-It Ralph? frozen? They are running out of movies to remake, what is going to be next?

Disney had periods where they didn't produce much good stuff like the Dark Ages and the Post Renaissance age. So they could bounce back and make some new IPs.

Or they could just make sequels and prequels to live action movies like they did with Mufasa, and they are going to do with Lilo and Stitch 2. They could have Return of Jafar

Lilo and Stitch and Lion King were so successful and I couldn't even bring myself to watch them. I just don't fucking get it. I at least understand the appeal of Maleficent (despite not liking it). But these movies have next to zero value. I don't get it.

>Sequels to the successful live action films.
That won't work, every single Live-Action sequel has made less than half of the original's box office. Even Mufasa made 800mil, which is still paltry compared to 2019 TLK's 1.6 Billion. If they try to make more sequels to it it's only going to continue the diminishing returns and make even less.

She was too old
A girl her age would have already been pregnant with maybe a child or two already born.
By 24 she would have had her own football team of kids

Who the fuck cares? The actors you see playing teenagers on the screen are usually 5-10 years older than their characters anyway.
>>
>>151320975
They could just adapt the books properly this time.
I tried watching this movie and it starts with nothing but boring exposition monologues. How many times does it bear repeating that the Horned King is evil and wants the Dark Cauldron? Truly the yellow paint of storytelling.
