'80s parents be like, "This looks like a fun doggy adventure our kids will love!"
>>151324736Looks fun lol.
>>151324736Parents are still like that
"Mom, is that tomato sauce?"
Yeah, I can't believe people are still believing that animation=for kids. Especially western animation, anime for some reason gets a pass.
>>151324736Nah, everyone in the UK at the time was VERY familiar with what Watership Down was so this follow-up was expected to be bleak. Though maybe not quite as bleak as it actually was

>>151324736I'm going to need two jars of peanut butter for these ones.
>>151325909>pulled a dick cheney and ranMan's best friend my ass.
>>151325909Expecting me to believe he'd even have time to cover his face.
>>151326604You can survive a surprisingly long time with your face shot off, depending on the angle.
>>151325584heheh, is funny because Penis
>>151327853Seth Rogen is the pinnacle of wit.
>>151324736It does
>>151325909>Boomstick time! ACK!
>>151325909lol this seems a bit nonsensical
>>151329951just a lil bit
>>151326525You keep making that joke in every canine thread. And it keeps being funny, every time.
>>151324736cute doggies!!
Best boy.
Aight I watched it, really good animation.
>>151331452qt
>>151330924It literally just happened though
>>151324736I love how Brits manage to give a new dimension to stories that USA would just turn into Disney slop.
>>151332924Does that still happen or was that only a common thing back in the 20th century?
>>151333628No idea, I don't keep up with modern entertainment.
>>151325909I saw that scene years ago when I was a kid and I always thought it was from "The Fox and The Hound". So I was always a bit afraid and thought the movie was darker than it actually was, until I actually watched it myself.
>>151333660Ah, okay.
>>151332924Fun fact: this was from the same crew that did that Watership Down adaptation a few years before this. That was just as unnerving.
>>151334808Those two and Felidae formed the "trap trinity". Three animated movies for adults parents would buy for their kids
>>151324736>punctuates it '80s and not 80's Just for that I'll finally go out of my way to watch Plague Dogs. Just for you, OP!
>>151324736cool poster
>>151336795Eh, it's decent
>>151332834lol damn
>>151331479Good writing too, or is it all style over substance?
>>151325584Some people shouldnt have kids maybe
>>151335217Can't speak for Plague Dogs since I haven't seen it, but Watership Down is a legitimate children's film. Just a bit darker and stranger than most. Felidae, on the other hand, fits your description exactly. I wonder what shocked people more, the violence or the sex?
>>151339845Agreed.
>>151339126Good story just not happy clearly.
People saying Watership Down is just as bad or unsuitable for kids have definitely not watched The Plague Dogs. Watership Down is a bit bleak and has some shots of animal death, blood and crept hallucinations that British kids like to bond over being mildly traumatised over. But the Plague Dogs is about a vivisection lab that experiments on dogs, where the main characters escape from being incinerated, that flopped because every parent knew this was not a suitable subject to take their kids to see. Both are amazing books thoughAnd arguably British kids were more traumatised by The Animals of Farthing Wood anyway
>>151341582*Creepy hallucinations
>>151341156Cant they read?
>>151341582that looks like it hurts...
>>151342078Their assumption that all cartoons are "for kids" supersedes their ability to read basic poster labeling.
>>151341582Probably the first time I saw blood in the animated medium
>childrens cartoon has a drop of blood in it>manchildren: wow this cartoon is so dark and mature, surely it won't be creepy for my 38 year old adult ass to be obsessing over this!
>>151342952Zoomie, there was a time where graphic, realistic violence was extremely rare to come by. So when it did it left an imprint.
>>151343171It seems today that all you see is violence in movies and sex on TV
>>151343171I'm probably older than you, kid
>>151341156Shame. I actually liked This Is The End...
>>151341582I still remember the hedgehogs...
>>151325811>I can't believe people are still believing that animation=for kidsI can. There's a bunch of reasons behind that line of thinking but it boils down to "parents don't want to put any effort into parenting." If it's animated, it's for kids, and if it's for kids, they can plonk their kids in front of the screen and forget they exist for a while. This is what happens when you create a society that not only encourages people to have kids whether they want to or not, and also doesn't penalize people for not putting in more effort than the legally required bare minimum. You end up with parents who resent their kids for existing and ruining their fun, but they still want the prestige of being parents, so they do as little as they can get away with. So that's why they assume that all cartoons should be for kids. Any time spent making sure that the crotch-goblins are only consuming age-appropriate material is time the parents aren't spending on the things they actually want to do.
>>151344363Well said.
>>151335951Based?
>>151324978"FUN"??
>>151344363how is it the parents fault when 99% of animated movies are made for kids? especially when they put a cute animal on the cover.
>>151346903Indeed
>>151324736cute!!!
>>151348295It takes ten seconds to scan the back cover of a VHS or DVD movie for a rating.
>>151349849adult animation literally wasn't a thing apart from 2-3 movies before the 21st century. and the simpsons I suppose. it was considered as unimaginable as, say, fievel turning into a tony montana expy once he reaches america for no reason
>>151343258But where are those good old fashioned values, on which we used to rely?
>>151325584Mmm... Sausage...
>>151324736They always say this
>>151353137This
>>151354613That?
>>151351243Gay
'20s parents be like, "This looks like a fun doggy adventure our kids will love!"

>>151326553The dog is literally lobotomized and the hunter fucked up at basic gun safety>>151332834>taking the nose media seriouslyWho cleans a loaded shotgun?
>>151324736animation is considered an unserious artform in the zionist culture of critique
>>151342952>childrens cartooncase in point
>>151342078there's stories from when borders was closing down, that customers would blatantly ignore any signs about anything and act entitled, outraged, and demanding.though i forgot the details. plus btw it seems borders was intentionally crashed. but yeah, customers DID NOT READ SIGNS.
>>151344363good post, but does nobody want to admit the ugly truth?... sometimes a bit of elsagate and inappropriate shit is just what you need as you grow up, to shake you out of your mindset and make you aware of the world you live in.and hell, if a kid has an awakening, well he just found a piece of himself, huh?people go "oh the childrens must be sheltered", well kids who never get exposed to germs end up with bad immune systems. kids who grow up in a sterile, boring box have no clue what kinds of things the world has.elsagate type shit is a necessity. it has to exist.for every good there's a bad, for every bad there's a good. and which is which is subjective. creation or destruction.
>>151357296Fun poster. The actual movie was a mess though, not nearly as funny as it could've been..
