>Signage on outside window of comic book shop says "no unaccompanied minors"
I was too afraid to ask why, but why?
>>
>>151327792
They get their grubby little hands that are coated in candy and snot on everything.
>>
Stupid kids don't buy comic books, they just read it in the store and put it back

Or he's a sex offender I dunno
>>
Same deal with casinos, venues, etc
LCS' aren't entirely child friendly if they stock certain books so it's best to have adult supervision from a parent or legal guardian to make sure they don't accidentally pick up a paperback of Crossed
>>
They steal shit
>>
>>151327792
Because a store is not free daycare, or a library, and kids take up space without buying anything, and they wrinkle/tear/snot up products, and they annoy actual customers. Also nobody wants to be responsible for some random kid while at the same time nobody wants bad shit to happen to them so you're kind of forced to keep an eye on them whether you want to or not because it's the sort of place creeps would cruise for a kid.
>>
>>151327792
Because nobody wants to be responsible for your retarded shit goblin.
>>
>>151327792
So parents don't drop their kids off there and treat it like a free daycare?
>>
>>151327792
In the 80s and 90s parents would absolutely let their kids run free in stores. Not to mention kids would go around in groups without an adult at all.
I grew up in Brooklyn and we'd go to the movies and there was a comic book store right next to it so it became an unofficial hangout before and after the movie. The shopkeeper eventually got sick of dozens of teens and younger dicking around but was smart and put arcade machines in the front of the store to make money and keep the bulk of the kids focued on mortal kombat and revolution x
>>
>>151327792
Some parents are pieces of shit and leave their kids at a store all day while they go and get hammered or whatever, it's very common

Forgot picture. Can't believe both the theater and the comic shop are still there.
Used to be called "Mutant Mania 3"

Please tell me they had this Punisher poster in the window sun-faded from years of neglect? I felt like every comic shop I went to as a kid had it in the window or behind the counter.
>>
>>151327792
>kids not allowed in comic book shops
no wonder the industry is so dead
>>
>>151328501
There's a Toy Shop on Catalina Island, a popular tourist location off the coast of California. It has had the same horribly bleached Pokemon the movie movie poster in the window for like twenty six years.

I Sacramento it is technically illegal to sell comics to minors under 18 if it depicts crime or violence. This is a city ordinance. Cities can come up with all types of unconstitutional ordinances. I found this video yesterday.
>>
>>151328501
Oh absolutely. That and death of superman
>>
Kids these days watch gore on Xitter.
>>
>>151328506
kids aren't allowed into any shop by themselves. watch your damn kids.
>>
>>151328751
Wut?

Is this some racis anti anchor baby thing?

We wanna see your parents don't speak english
>>
>>151328716
It's less unconstitutional than you'd think. Obscenity law is a hell of a thing.
Though in Comic Book Guy's case he probably just doesn't want dumbass kids wrecking his shit without their parents paying for it.
>>
>>151328716
CA, being such a nonviolent place of course.
>>
>>151328419

Comic Bookguy is such a fat-ass
>>
>>151335096
Yeah, he's way fatter then homer yet no one gives him shit for it
>>
>>151327792
It's to keep parents from dropping the kids off and then going shopping somewhere else for a couple hours. Too many use shops like this as free daycare.
>>
>>151335914
Better than throwing a brainrot tablet in their hands
>>
>>151335890
He wears his fatness better than Homer ever has, that's why.
>>
>>151332139
It isn't? Then why all the toys on display?
>>
>>151328506
comic shops have never been for kids
>>
>>151327792
Kids don't have money

If a kid damages some merchandise while they're in the store then they won't be able to buy it and CBG is out the money

The store also has a selection of more mature content. Gore-y and violent comics
And straight up porn in the back

Comic Book Guy doesn't have employees so he can't keep an eye on every damn kid wandering around the store to make sure they don't get scarred for life by running into tentacle porn. That's a parents job

They'll amass some street smarts and learn from the real world, whereas iPad babies won't have basic social skills.

I miss wall-eyed Homer...
>>
>>151329482
Naw the guy was kinda brilliant. It's hard to imagine but there was a huge comic book crash in the early-mid 90s too. Basically Marvel overplayed their hand with the Infinity Gauntlet crossovers and holo covers and all that shit, so people became fatigued and stopped buying because they didn't want to have to buy 10 comics to know what happened between Infinity War #1 and #2. (fucking ironic that Disney did the same shit with their shows but that's another conversation)

Anyhow, during the slump it didn't stop us from hanging out inside the store (again, it's next to a theater that notoriously didn't card so, here come a buncha 13 year olds fresh out of "Don't Be a Menace..." quoting all the raunchy shit in that movie). He was smart and put the arcade machines outside the shop, so while we crowded around them and paid his rent with quarters, the shop stayed peaceful for the people who actually wanted to be there to buy MTG cards and shit. MTG back then was...what 4th edition? Mirage/Ice Age? I don't remember but nobody was buying comics but fuck if booster packs weren't keeping the lights on.

Also while Marvel was shitting the bed with Infinity War/Crusade, Image comics was pushing Spawn hard (also being the edgy cool comic book publisher) and DC was murdering superman for the first time.
