He still retains much of what makes him “interesting” to the public. They just can't bring anything uncool to him. Like, his milk obsession doesn't make him weird to us. And even the writers know that because it's an Alex Delarge trait, and Alex was anything but uncool. All the comments, including the actor's, are just them doing PR work. They have his cake and they want to eat it too. I'm not against morally corrupt characters. I think the comic book Homelander is one of the best “evil superman” type characters. But I hate the brain-dead Trump cult.
