Gertie got cut to bring back Helga, Ember got cut to make room for Vlad become playable. It makes very little sense in terms of representing the series, but it made sense from a pure gameplay perspective...
In the first game, Lucy had a strong(and well put together) moveset, clear love from the devs. She saw plenty of play.

Where did you get this information? All that was ever said is that the roster Nickelodeon wanted was too "predictable" and we have no idea what that's supposed to mean.
And no one can deny that the devs wanting to get weird is what doomed these rosters in the first place. They went into the game with the same design philosophy for the roster they had with Slap City's design philosophy not realizing that they can get away with it with Slap as their own franchises and characters are less known and therefore do not have the big fanbase that wants the "predictable" first while Nickelodeon's fanbase is so big, especially for each individual franchise, that they can't get away with such decisions, especially the first time, as it has alienated multiple fanbases. The thing is, the only, ONLY flaw of NASB2 in my eyes is the roster. The modes are exactly what I want, it has crossplay, and the presentation is great.

And this roster fixes my biggest gripes, we have most of the main characters, and a good mix of heavy hitters like Spongebob and Avatar and fan favorites like El Tigre and Catdog.

It's not a perfect roster, but it's a marked improvement over Granny Gertie and the Firebender jamboree.

According to insiders Gertie being a Nickeldoen executive decision was a stretch of truth.

The clones and derivatives are the easiest to get rid off, but...

I gotta say, as someone who has played Awakening and know Lucina's story, to say such a thing about her, and to even make her a clone of Marth, is an insult to her character and story.
The whole point about Lucina's story is that she's her own person and she's strong enough to not need to be Marth and she shouldn't try to be like him, this is something that not only does she have to learn and figure out but it's also something that is resolved quickly with the whole "Marth" thing being dropped as soon as possible.
I have also seen her concept art and while she always had the mask her disguise was clearly never intended to mimic Marth until later on in the game's development. The whole "Marth" thing was just a marketing stunt.
And you know what? Same goes for Dark Pit as well. The entire character of Dark Pit is that he doesn't want to be seen as just another Pit, he wants to be seen as his own person and he works hard to fight against the perception of him just being another Pit as he knows he's a real person and he wants everyone to know that, and eventually everyone does come to know and respect that.
People who say that Lucina and Dark Pit are "perfect" picks for clone characters because the former pretended to be Marth and the later is a literal dark clone of Pit prove just how much the Smash fanbase have absolutely no idea about the characters they talk about, they only know them on a surface level but never bother to actually learn about or even read their Wiki pages, yet they act like they know everything about them just because they're in Smash Bros, and Smash Bros has warped public perception of characters, franchises and even gaming as a whole.

If these people actually knew anything about Lucina and Dark Pit, if they were actual fans of these characters, then they'd know that the stories of these characters revolve around them trying to break free of and escape the shadows of Marth and Pit respectively to become and to be seen and respect as their own people detached from who they were initially perceived to be.

This has led to the development and decisions revolving around the DP characters to be described as "messy" with all three being juggled around for who gets the two places on the roster, with Danny himself even being considered to get cut in favor of Vlad and Ember. Bu tin the end they decided to keep Danny, add Ember and have Vlad as a boss. This could also explain why Vlad has his own almost completed moveset as a boss, because at one point he was supposed to be playable.
This arbitrary "Only two DP characters" limit can also be the reason why they cut Ember and it's safe to assume that other franchise have the same character limits put on them by the devs explain certain decisions as to who and why gets cut.

Honestly we needed more modern Nickelodeon. The dev's obsessions with the 90s, reliving their own nostalgia and their own personal biases has been a detriment to these rosters, so i am glad that Nickelodeon is finally putting their foot down, even though it doesn't make the roster much better and it being too little too late.

Again, too little too late, and even with this there's going to be fans who will be disappointed, mostly due to and stemming from poor decisions that the devs themselves have made. It's impossible to come back from such poor decisions.

All that is side stuff to give the player a personal friend. Not all players are men and not all players are even teens yet and i'm sure they know this.
Lyn gives me more of a sister kind of vibes, someone who cares for others and has their backs.
If that's how you view her then that's unfortunate as she's ale to marry other men as well. Kinda weird for the devs to want to give the player such an impression only to have her be able to marry someone else.

Keep in mind that despite NASB2 having a higher budget it sold worse than NASB1, not managing to break even. Sold so poorly that Nickelodeon and/or GameMill stopped considering it a priority and taking away money and resources from development as a result causing a delay in the Rocksteady DLC and most likely the Iroh DLC as well.
And mark my words the same will happen to NASB 3 as well, it will sell worse than NASB2 on a higher budget and Nickelodeon/GameMill will stop considering it a priority causing DLC to get delayed, assuming the game even gets DLC in the first place, they might just play it safe and not even consider DLC due to how badly NASB2 sold.

My personal complaint is that even though she did eventually made it in, April took Jenny's spot. When most people (at least the people that grew up on 2000s Nick) think of leading heroines in Nick, Jenny would automatically come to mind, they don't think 80s April. It does seem like Nickelodeon has gotten better and the current Nickelodeon president, Brian Robbins, does seem to be keeping his promise of not cancelling shows too soon, albeit he kept that promise later than he should but better late than never right? But unfortunately it seems that it's now too little too late as the damage done by both Zarghami and Robbins has scared both creatives and viewers away from Nickelodeon with people moving to more indie animation, and by indie i mean Glitch, people are moving away from the big three cartoon studios and are moving onto Glitch as they're pretty much the only big name indie animation studio, but that's a discussion for another time, another thread.
