https://www.polygon.com/fionna-and-cake-season-2-adventure-time-adam-muto-interview/
> The first season of Fionna and Cake often felt downright apocalyptic, with the protagonists’ alternate reality facing annihilation from a multiversal “god auditor” called Scarab. By the end of that season, however, their world was no longer in peril, which provided Muto and the rest of the team with an interesting opportunity. They could tell a “cozy” story set within this new dimension, or find a way to raise the stakes once again. Ultimately, they split the difference.

>“I was not bold enough to just say, ‘We're going to do a very cozy season. Every episode's going to be kind of boring, but it'll be fun,’” he says. “There's definitely the temptation to just do a slice of life thing and just keep it completely low stakes, just about Fionna and her friends, and that could be satisfying in some way, but I feel like they would not have greenlit that show. Finding a middle ground was sort of the challenge.”
Apparently only the last couple of episodes have anything to do with the actual plot and most of the 10 episodes season is going to be town SOL drama, the funniest part is that this will be the last Adventure Time related thing people will get in a long ass time aside from the single Sidequests season that was animated
>Adam Muto can't give specific updates on the Adventure Time movie or the preschool Heyo BMO spinoff, he explains that the franchise's move to Warner Bros. Animation has made development much slower.
>Each project now requires a longer process of being sold and approved. He attributes the long waits to this slower development combined with projects being announced too early.

That's false advertisement on Fionna and Cake's part, Huntress Wizard only showed up at the end of episode 1, then she was dying of dehydration on episodes 2 and 3 (where she also only showed up at the end), then she only got her regular body at the end of episode 4 after the rest of the episode focused on romantic drama and Cheers, the next episode won't focus on her either, instead focusing on Marshall Lee and more romantic SOL drama, they won't travel to another Universe until episode 6, but then they will go back to Fionna's world, only for the show to speedrun the main "HW trying to save Finn" plot in the last 3 episodes (AKA the only episodes they used for the NYCC trailer), Huntress Wizard has done so little and will do little still by the end that she should not be in the center of the poster

At least we got Huntress Wizard's canon naked ass, probably the only good thing about this season so far
>>
>>151343621
I deeply hate that people will grow to resent Cheers because of this. If nothing else, Hazbin doesn't do that.

who cares

None of them, both are cancer made by tumblrinas, Hazdicks Hotel is slightly better but that’s like saying a fart is better than a shit, at least it’s not beanmouth and can debatably help indie animation.

Fiona and Cake on the other hand is repulsive in so many ways, first of all it’s pre-existing IP slop made to milk the shit out of an already-existing brand, AT fans also claim to support original content but I guess they forget about caring about the industry when they realize "MAH FAVORITE BEANMOUTH SHOW IS BACK DURRR DURRR DURRRR", what makes it even more funny is that there’s literally NO REASON for the series to be Adventure Time in the first place, it’s just some dramaslop Euphoria wannabe with Wojack Redditman tier writing that I’ll mind you is set in an ALTERNATE UNIVERSE from the main show, which begs the question as to why the fuck this shit is Adventure Time in the first place, this is just like when companies make shitty reboots that have nothing to do with the original source material like Teen Titans Go. It’s a pathetic attempt at milking a pre-existing IP and you all being brainlets fell for it, the fact that it’s beanmouth tumblrslop means it’d be better off not existing in the first place but this is especially shitty.

It still looks like 'furry TDI' which is its own special brand of visual aids

It's funny because both shows are very different cases of how to handle a second season.
Hazbin Hotel is so jam-packed with characters, subplots, and musical numbers that it's overwhelming, and it makes each moment have less impact due to how the show keeps throwing everything it has at you. However, it also means there's constantly fun stuff happening, and it's never boring. Just 8 episodes dropped in the span of a month also means it's over just when it starts getting good. But it also means you get to see the plot develop quicker.
Fionna and Cake follows up a lot of what happened last season and in AT lore in general, but takes its slow ass time to build up to everything. Stakes are low, and there's only a certain number of characters getting the spotlight. Episodes are dropped weekly and there's 10 of them, so there's plenty of time for the audience to process and think about everything going on. But the lack of adventures and focus on small-town shenanigans can make each episode feel less interesting to talk about beyond discussing the character's mental health, and it lacks the adventuring nature of the show called Adventure Time.
I believe there is a good balance between these two and it's intriguing they aired at the same time. They're polar opposite shows in many ways.
