It's a cute movie with a cute ending.
Got convinced by some anons here to watch it when it was temporarily available on youtube and had a good time. In fact, I even paid for a movie ticket to enjoy the full experience in my native language and was hoping to have the whole theater for me but unfortunately a mom and her kid showed up to ruin 50% of it with their constant talking and screaming and doing anything but watching the damn thing, on the plus side, seeing them singing along with the ending warmed my heart and definitely elevated the experience. But at the end, I feel like the movie did poorly in my country and isn't doing too well anywhere really, despite being a good pick for children. Are original IPs for animated family movies that don't cater to a teenage/young adult demographic a dying breed or is it just me? Because I don't feel like a single one of those made money this decade, even exceptionally good ones like the wild robot. I'm worried about the future of animation if this i th case, legitimately.

it wasn't bad. Its not like the greatest new animated feature but it avoided a lot of the eye rolling insufferable cliches that animated kids films make

>it avoided a lot of the eye rolling insufferable cliches that animated kids films make
There is an entire character dedicated to pointing out every eye rolling chilche that the movie makes.

>Clive Barker inspired Night of the Zoopocalypse
I think it was Night of the Living Dead that inspired the movie.

>>151345760
Oh. That was the case for me too; the screening was very limited. Luckily, I was able to find a theater where it was still playing.
I liked it, and the existence of an animated film with zombie themes is quite rare.
>>
>>151345688
its was hilarious and fun.

I loved the unique designs of the animals.
It was refreshingly cartoony, while still feeling high-quality.

Constantly recommending it to friends and family since I saw it!
>>
I was starving to watch anything animated in the big screen. I saw it on my pc before my add died.

It was okay , I just want to strangle parents who brought 4year old to watch the movie meanwhile they were glued to their phones.
>>
>>151348971
There is LITERALLY nothing wrong with using your phone during a movie if it's on the lowest brightness settings.

Sleeper hit of the year
Maybe partly because this was a dismal fucking year for the cinema but I really really enjoyed the atmosphere and the novelty of the gummy zombie
Most of the B-plot characters can be done without but there’s been worse

And of course Gracie just absolutely stole my heart. Goddamn I love that Southern noodle woofer like you cannot imagine

>>151346599
I don’t imagine it was much of a success ANYWHERE. It’s baffling that it was released in the US during the SPRING and not closer to Halloween
Yeah, it’s a serious concern
>>
>>151348389
As I heard the story goes, Clive had the idea for a book where a kid is trapped in a zoo after hours when an outbreak zombifies the animals but instead of writing it out he passed the name and basic premise off to a studio
>>
>>151349952
I like the animal protagonist more

>>
>>151352319
Unique doesn't mean good looking. And there's nothing unique in style about rounded features with big eyes.
>>
>>151345688
I liked it
The character design was a lot more like euro/belgim comics which was refreshing to me to get out of the standard disney/pixar style that american films have been sort of stuck in for a while

>Who? Me? A wolf? With you? A human? A wolf with a human? Like... partners? Don't you reckon how crazy you sound right now? *giggles* Like... honey, how'd that even work? I mean... What'd Granny think of us? -NOT that I'm imagining us... together... I mean, it could never work, so it's no use dreamin' 'bout it... is there a mandela effect where gracie used to have a spiked black collar? i didn't see the movie yet, but i saw trailers months ago, and i SWEAR she distinctly and clearly had a black collar with spikes. i took it to mean she was a gothic quad furry gf.
did the filmmakers change it or did we jump timelines again?
>>
>>151350011
I do too, that being said I wouldn't have minded if it had been a little more mature in the horror aspect.
Like not R rated but aimed more for a mid teen audience.

No, it classifies you as a cinema terrorist. You are the dumbed fucking idiot if you actually think putting it on low brightness hides it from people next to you. Actually retarded. They ruin it for everybody, and more importantly, they ruin it for me. Death to phonefags. They are only good for being abused by greedy businessmen, and will never be happy.
>>151354197
Post hands. If you think it's normal, you should kill yourself. I've seen it all. Tiktok reels during action movies, tower defense games during dialogue scenes, people taking selfies, people taking phone calls, people who pay $20 to not watch a movie and advertise how much they don't want to be there to everybody else. It's astounding how uninteresting their lives are that they will choose to spend it by wasting their time and being a nuisance to everyone else without realizing it. If they were actively trying to troll people, at least they would have meaning. If they're taking their kids to a movie and doomscroll the whole time, they are refusing to give their kids even the slightest care of involvement in how they are learning about the world. They are just hoping to ignore their kids and speedrun through their "annoying" upbringing, until suddenly they grow up and resent their parents who are confused what went so wrong.

I hate phones in the theater. It's obviously a sign someone doesn't care to watch the movie or is bored. The one time it was funny to me was when my friend wanted to see Spiderverse 2 and when they got to Pavi the Indian Spiderman, I noticed at least 3 people took out their phone while he was introducing himself.

Knowing Barker? He probably needed a few extra bucks and knew he was the "hellraiser and candyman" guy so he came up with it for finances while working on something he cared about.
He's a very cynical dude and the premise doesn't match his usual style. He is very big on antagonists who represent some uncomfortable part of the human condition we don't like to think about.
Even the Candyman was fundamentally a guy taking revenge on the society that abandoned him by ensuring his name would be the one that got remembered, even in his sympathy it was an ego thing
>>
>>151345688
It was nice. I enjoyed the art style and the story was serviceable. Gracie is super cute. I think my main complain was that there was something weird about the audio mixing with the version I saw on Amazon prime and a lot of the dialogue wasn't audible.
>>
>>151369568
Apparently Night of the Zoopocalypse wasn't actually the title he had in mind, so correction there
The original title he had in mind was ZOOmbies. And there actually IS a zoo zombie movie with that title and though I can't actually figure out if he had any connection to that one, the possibility that he was able to sell the same idea to studios twice with basically no work on his part makes me really respect his hustle
