If Chloe Zhao wins another Oscar for Hamnet, will Marvel finally greenlight Eternals 2?
>>151352595Old people should not be sporting a nose ring.
>>151352678>implying it looks good on anyone
>>151352595Depends on where would it fit, because Marvel really messed up with its Kang villain that they put in Doctor Doom as a replacement. So how would they work with the introduction to Doom & not involve Kang?
>>151353311They weren't really tied to Kang either, though.
>>151352595I think Eternals have been put in a little box named "Do Not Use" like the Inhunans.
Maybe sometimes creators who are good at one thing don't necessarily translate well for another.Tillie Walden is a critical darling praised by numerous prominent figures in comics yet the one time she branched out and did The Walking Dead, people hated it
>>151352595Eternals 2? yesby Zhao? I dunno
>>151352595No
>>151352595Oscar wins are paid more so its unlikely they would bring her back for more than a cameo
>>151352595I haven’t watched Eternals but one thing that sticks in my craw about MCU shit is how they just grab whoever directed the last episode of Game of Thrones to direct their big movies but Zhao seems like a real director, where did Eternals go wrong?
>>151354059Some of the symbols like the circles implied that it does. Same with the rings from Shang-Chi, & the bangle from Ms. Marvel. So they were or could have built that connections that would tie in with Kang. His chair from Ant-Man 3 has that circular shapes that would connectBut with Doom it would feel pointless & will go nowhereWould be fun to bring the Eternals back. Especially if we could see Ikaris vs Captain Marvel fight thanks to Marvel Zombies
>>151352678>>151352740I carry a multitool and I can't say I haven't had an intrusive thought
>>151352595did that movie have anything going for it besides WMAF
>>151356037>but Zhao seems like a real director, where did Eternals go wrong?I don't know what your definition of a "real" director, but she didn't show any understanding and/or care for the source material or the genre. I'm not saying a hero movie can't have substance, story, character growth etc. Those are obviously essential. But you have to pace them with action, stakes, threats, as well. You can't turn a story about the Immortal Avengers, into a 3 hour ensemble version of Waiting for Gadot. The movie was in a word boring, and in more words, it was boring with characters that had no weight or interaction, which was supposed to be the whole source of tension and drama in the story. Not everyone who wins an award can make movies in another genre with any skill.
