What the fuck was his problem?
>>
You wouldn't get it as you likely conform to classical notions of artistic form and lack the capacity to expand your horizons.
Modern art is by design destructive. Don't ask what Bauhaus did in WW2 or who funded surrealists in the 50s and 60s

Nothing important
A whole bunch of surrealist and modern art studios went underground in the 1930s due to german hijinx. Some of these studios like Bauhaus were architecture specialists and as WW2 progressed the british war ministry were developing a bombing program to specifically calculate how you can maximize civilian casualties in german population centres to reduce potential manpower for industry or enlistment. The ministry lacked infomation or insight into common german building design so they took on studios like bauhaus to understand how german buildings were made and to improve the maximum possible casualty rate from fire bombings. Their contribution proved effective with some of the most devestating infrastructural damage in the entire war coming from british and american bombing fleets doing runs over germany. After the war modern and surealist art studios took up the mantle of german reconstruction and helped design new architecture to replace what was destroyed.

>Good'! 'Evil'! Outmoded concepts for an antique age. Can't you see? There is no good, there is no evil in our new world! Look at us! Are we not final proof that there is no good, no evil, no truth, no reason? Are we not proof that the universe is a drooling idiot with no fashion sense? From this day on we will celebrate the total absurdity of life, the gigantic hocus-pocus of existence. From this day on, let unreason reign! The Brotherhood of Evil is dead! Long live the Brotherhood of Dada!

i'm gonna ask.
also gonna ask if anyone has that long compilation post from co, about the bauhaus style and what it means.
>>
>>151360418
Mr Nobody started off as a generic young mad scientist with a neat mustache named Mordon who tried to join the Brotherhood of Evil via helping them steal a giant murder robot. The plan failed and Mordon had to go into hiding to avoid the cops but also the Brotherhood, who wanted him dead for failing them.

Hiding in South America, he met a Nazi scientist who offered to give him vague super power. The process worked but a little too well. Mordon gained the power of a god but lost his humanity and more importantly, lost his fucking sanity. Embracing Dadaism (a philosophy/art style that was the inspired by the horrors of WW1 and the fact that it shattered all forms of morality and social norms, leading to people turning to the absurd and surrealism to reflect the mindset among the art crowd, that there was no order in the universe and chaos was it's natural default setting.

In that mind, Mordon rechristened himself Mr Nobody (a reference to how obscure the character was) and formed a rag tag team of super villains who shared his anarchist views.

biggest tragedy in modern times, plus what happened to japan. gee, why does no one try to do that to the truly useless countries that produce no culture or much of value? only the shining stars upon the dreary earth.

there's also a longpost from pol about how on the american side in ww2, only republicans were drafted. no americans could enlist, each and every single usa soldier was hand-selected. and republican.

things just get darker and bleaker the more rocks you look under.

This guy Oliver took the japanese woman and made her a member of the latest version Brotherhood of Evil. Suffice to say what a shitty run the lastest Doom Patrol series was.
>>
>>151366766
I hate that run. It makes Gerard Way's Doom Patrol looks good in comparison.
>>
>>151366766
That is disappointing to learn about.

>>151366798
Way's run was better than the previous runs of Doom Patrol, but was trying too hard to be Morrison's run. Bringing Mr. Nobody back after he was turned into Mr. Somebody had some interest from me, but it felt more like "hey, look at this!" and didn't do much of anything at all with the Brotherhood of Nada. Like, come on!
It was OK up until Milk Wars, but then lost track of what it was doing and I also lost track of it there.
>>
>>151367086
And just so I'm clear by previous runs I mean the two runs directly before his, not all the previous runs.

We never got any explanation for how Mr. Nobody became Mr. Somebody and why he switched from absurdist dadaism to capitalism. The run was canceled before we could learn what his actual goal was. Some aspects of the run were carried over into the next like his desire to control the narrative (switching from manipulating the media to feeding people reality breaking supplements), but he was reverted back to Mr. Nobody by then.

If storytiming wasn't such a bitch to do these days, I'd post issues 27, 28, 29, 49, 50, 51, and 52 from the 1987 run to finish up his second and third outings.
Then parts of issues 11, 12, 14, 20, and 22 from the 2009 run for his stint as Mr. Somebody.
Then I'd have to figure out which issues from the 2016 run he was referenced by, made mention of, or appeared therein to finish up the complete character study.

I don't know.
I'm gonna go to bed after this one.

I don't have good scans or enough scans of Giffen's run saved for it to make enough contextual sense just focusing on Mr. Somebody.
I also don't have the pages from Way's run organized for the character focus.

And thus concludes the character's second outing.

If I or someone else continues the Mr. Nobody storytime, or you want to follow the character specifically, then issue 49 is the place to go.

Good night.
