What the fuck was his problem?
You wouldn't get it as you likely conform to classical notions of artistic form and lack the capacity to expand your horizons.Modern art is by design destructive. Don't ask what Bauhaus did in WW2 or who funded surrealists in the 50s and 60s
>>151360803What the fuck are you blabbering on about anon?
>>151360824Nothing importantA whole bunch of surrealist and modern art studios went underground in the 1930s due to german hijinx. Some of these studios like Bauhaus were architecture specialists and as WW2 progressed the british war ministry were developing a bombing program to specifically calculate how you can maximize civilian casualties in german population centres to reduce potential manpower for industry or enlistment. The ministry lacked infomation or insight into common german building design so they took on studios like bauhaus to understand how german buildings were made and to improve the maximum possible casualty rate from fire bombings. Their contribution proved effective with some of the most devestating infrastructural damage in the entire war coming from british and american bombing fleets doing runs over germany. After the war modern and surealist art studios took up the mantle of german reconstruction and helped design new architecture to replace what was destroyed.
>Good'! 'Evil'! Outmoded concepts for an antique age. Can't you see? There is no good, there is no evil in our new world! Look at us! Are we not final proof that there is no good, no evil, no truth, no reason? Are we not proof that the universe is a drooling idiot with no fashion sense? From this day on we will celebrate the total absurdity of life, the gigantic hocus-pocus of existence. From this day on, let unreason reign! The Brotherhood of Evil is dead! Long live the Brotherhood of Dada!
>>151360803i'm gonna ask.also gonna ask if anyone has that long compilation post from co, about the bauhaus style and what it means.
>>151360418Mr Nobody started off as a generic young mad scientist with a neat mustache named Mordon who tried to join the Brotherhood of Evil via helping them steal a giant murder robot. The plan failed and Mordon had to go into hiding to avoid the cops but also the Brotherhood, who wanted him dead for failing them. Hiding in South America, he met a Nazi scientist who offered to give him vague super power. The process worked but a little too well. Mordon gained the power of a god but lost his humanity and more importantly, lost his fucking sanity. Embracing Dadaism (a philosophy/art style that was the inspired by the horrors of WW1 and the fact that it shattered all forms of morality and social norms, leading to people turning to the absurd and surrealism to reflect the mindset among the art crowd, that there was no order in the universe and chaos was it's natural default setting. In that mind, Mordon rechristened himself Mr Nobody (a reference to how obscure the character was) and formed a rag tag team of super villains who shared his anarchist views.
>>151360877biggest tragedy in modern times, plus what happened to japan. gee, why does no one try to do that to the truly useless countries that produce no culture or much of value? only the shining stars upon the dreary earth.there's also a longpost from pol about how on the american side in ww2, only republicans were drafted. no americans could enlist, each and every single usa soldier was hand-selected. and republican.things just get darker and bleaker the more rocks you look under.
>>151360418Is that Earthworm Jim’s evil clone?
>>151361067>also gonna ask if anyone has that long compilation post from coThis?
>>1513604182 words - grant morrision
>>151361067
>>151361152>>151361192thanks a huge amount comrade!>RADSON
Bump
>>151360877damn
>>151360877Weren’t a lot of the studios’ staff also executed thanks to the whole “subversive art” thing driving Hitler nuts
>>151361192lol, what an angry idiot. bauhaus is great, actually. if he just wanted to get mad about a random topic and LARP as an expert to impress other kids he should have picked a better one.
>>151360418The Doom Patrol was his problem
I really should read this already
>>151364375Yeah
Let's look at his first appearance.
I'm going to skip a few pages because they are in no way relevant to this plot.
>>151363446Some of them were, but to what degree of whether it was down to autistic level of taste or the fact that they were connected to political networks is something that can be debated all day
>>151360418he looks fuckable
>>151360418Too Dada for this world
And that was Mr. Morden's one and only outing with the Brotherhood of Evil.
>>151366000Kino shit
>>151365866Rouge looks stunning as always
Let's jump forward in time a spell, over 20 years later...
And I will be jumping around between issues a little bit as not all bits are relevant to our current subject matter.
Enter: Mr. Nobody.
Skipping pages not related to our character focus.
Hey you, yeah, (you), I'm talking to (you) now, the guy up there with the big (OP) in his numbers.Pay attention, we're getting to the heart of your question now.
And so the Brotherhood of Dada is formed for the first time.
>>151366475Arigato sensei
>>151366284>>151366306This guy Oliver took the japanese woman and made her a member of the latest version Brotherhood of Evil. Suffice to say what a shitty run the lastest Doom Patrol series was.
>>151366766I hate that run. It makes Gerard Way's Doom Patrol looks good in comparison.
>>151366766That is disappointing to learn about.>>151366798Way's run was better than the previous runs of Doom Patrol, but was trying too hard to be Morrison's run. Bringing Mr. Nobody back after he was turned into Mr. Somebody had some interest from me, but it felt more like "hey, look at this!" and didn't do much of anything at all with the Brotherhood of Nada. Like, come on!It was OK up until Milk Wars, but then lost track of what it was doing and I also lost track of it there.
>>151367086And just so I'm clear by previous runs I mean the two runs directly before his, not all the previous runs.
>>151367086Way's Patrol reads like a fanfic, but a good fanfic.
>>151366115>Din Do Lloyd
>>151367228There was even admission from the characters that they were like fanfiction since they knew they weren't the originals and that the world was a fake before Mr. Nobody destroyed it.
why did he turn white in post-infinite crisis doom patrol
>>151360418They absolutely destroyed him in the TV show
>>151367698Because he became Mr. Somebody
>>151367730There is no proper way to adapt the Doom Patrol, especifically Morrison run, without butchering the source material.
>>151367698We never got any explanation for how Mr. Nobody became Mr. Somebody and why he switched from absurdist dadaism to capitalism. The run was canceled before we could learn what his actual goal was. Some aspects of the run were carried over into the next like his desire to control the narrative (switching from manipulating the media to feeding people reality breaking supplements), but he was reverted back to Mr. Nobody by then.If storytiming wasn't such a bitch to do these days, I'd post issues 27, 28, 29, 49, 50, 51, and 52 from the 1987 run to finish up his second and third outings. Then parts of issues 11, 12, 14, 20, and 22 from the 2009 run for his stint as Mr. Somebody. Then I'd have to figure out which issues from the 2016 run he was referenced by, made mention of, or appeared therein to finish up the complete character study.
>>151367906Would you do it if the thread is still up by tomorrow? Please
>>151368611The problem is it takes time and attention. You can't automate storytiming anymore, you actually have to fill out every captcha and be there every minute to have the page post.
While I sit here and digest before the evening workout routine, I'll post the rest of 1987's issue 27.
If I suddenly stop before the issue is over it likely means I had to take a shit. Which is a real possibility.
I wish Morrison's Doom Patrol was better.
Skipping pages that aren't focused on our merry band of nitwits.
>>151369964What didn't you like about it?
>>151369964Everyone seems to have strong opinions on which run of Doom Patrol was the good one.
So... what did this "Oliver" guy do to The Quiz? Do I even want to know?
I mean, the power to have any power your opponent hasn't thought of is a pretty Mary Sue power. There's a lot that goes wrong with bringing her into a less nonsensical story.
That page isn't relevant to following these guys.
And that's issue 27.
>>151369978A lot of things, but mainly the art.Only the ideas were interesting. I didn't much like the characters or plots, except for Willoughby Kipling (first appearance, at least) and Crazy Jane's rescue.>>151369984So far, having only tried the Drake and Morrison runs, I don't like any.
>>151369984Nobody seems to like Byrne's run so far
>>151370002You don’t
>>151370946Who would've thought Mr. Nobody had such poor taste then.
>>151370104Nobody would be thrilled with today's world
>>151371055Maybe Somebody would.
>>151371030Kek but even Arcudi's run has his fans. Byrne's run on the other side...
>>151363613>bauhaus is great
>>151371098I haven't read Arcudi run yet so I can't talk about it.Byrne run was garbage, it reads like a shitty X-Men ripoff.I like Giffen run and how he tried to tie things up but then gis run got cancelled and he ended his run abruptly. While Johns didn't have a proper run, I hate how he wrote the Doom Patrol in his Justice League series.Way might be the only run worth reading after New 52 happened.
>>151371280Giffen's run was mired by endless mega event crossovers. They couldn't get anything done in their own series without another event pulling them away.
>>151370104>casing fired out of the front holeWhat a retard. Someone should make a thread on Morrison's /k/rimes.
>>151371280Yeah, I know a lot of people didn't like the Way run, but it was my second favorite after Morrison's.
>>151363613What a strangely affected post.
>>151360803Modern art is deconstructive with the intent to understand form and function, not destructivestuff like Adolph's perversion of Christianity, now that's destructive art
>>151360877>due to german hijinxyou mean secret police arresting public dissenters
>>151373553>mental illness bleatingSee?
>>151373594feels like projection to meI fail to see what's so destructive about pic related as opposed to say, Birkenau
>>151361192This anon fuckin' gets it, this is how I feel about poetry, or rather "poetry."
>>151361096Good God, you actually believe things said on 4chan as the truth.Sir, you are beyond touching grass. Please, before you reproduce or vote again, find the nearest jug of bleach, and chug until the darkness takes you.
Oh, this thread is still up and there's activity. What fun Doom Patrol discussions might be taking place?Oh.Well, I know the cure for that.
>>151360418>OP makes a vague thread about who knows what>People ask for context>OP dumps context>Conversation bloomsBASED. Fucking based. I will remember this thread and I will be pointing to it in the future when OPs start threads about obscure stuff that don't gain traction. May you break your PR today, mate.
>>151373852I'm not the OP, I just wanted to post em cause I got em.I fully expect OP to come to a conclusion about what Mr. Nobody's problem is, and give us all a dissertation on it by the thread's end.
And thus concludes issue 28 with the Doom Patrol having been soundly defeated by the Brotherhood of Dada.
Oh wait, that's the wrong page. That's page 4 of issue 29. My files are mess up and I'm missing page 24 of issue 28.Well that sucks.
Here we go, the actual page 24 from issue 28.Thank you The Texas Anon from 2016.
Good shit so far
>>151366475Love the custume/ character design of the team, very "wild and artistic"
Kudos to whoever is posting the comic pages. You're a real one.
OK, I went through and made sure the pages were the correct sequence.Issue 29 starting now.
We was kangs 'n shit.
>>151373983This is page 4.This one here is page 5.
>>151374304OP owes us all a /co/llege thesis.
>>151374346I honestly did not expect the thread to to take off in this way but I'm glad it did.
>>151374365You are lucky I had the issues with Mr. Nobody already saved for reasons that have long since expired.
>>151374378You getting all the way through the Way run with these?
>>151374391I don't know.I'm gonna go to bed after this one.I don't have good scans or enough scans of Giffen's run saved for it to make enough contextual sense just focusing on Mr. Somebody.I also don't have the pages from Way's run organized for the character focus.
I think Doom Patrol is just as strange as JoJo.
The Fog seem much more" normal " than his teammates and friends. Why is he stick up with the rest of the team?
>>151374466Because he has dozens if not hundreds of people poorly assimilated into his mind all yelling at him all the time.
Superman is just being a drama queen.
And thus concludes the character's second outing. If I or someone else continues the Mr. Nobody storytime, or you want to follow the character specifically, then issue 49 is the place to go.Good night.
