How likely is the chance that Netflix buying out WB will lead to a new DCAU of sorts?
Please don't get my hopes up
>>151606429Ok I won't
>>151606254I wouldn't be surprised, DCAU shows and movies are popular
>>151606468I feel like Netflix could also just be content with putting the old animated stuff on their platform
>>151606254>wanting new episodes of a cartoon that finished 20 years agoDon't be like the fans of Teen Titans.
>>151606505I want a new animated DC universe
>>151606254About the same as getting more Snyderverse. Zero.
>>151606519Okay, that is fine.
>>151606254>>151606429>>151606519>the monkey's paw curls a finger
>>151606254Watch your blu-rays/rips and be happy we got what we got for as long as we did.Good comic adaptations are the exception and not the rule.
>>151606254Not so fast buddy it's not over yet quite the opposite in fact things are just starting to heat up.1)Paramount is preparing a hostile takeover over WBhttps://fictionhorizon.com/paramount-skydance-reportedly-plans-hostile-takeover-of-warner-bros/2/Trump is going to fight netflix over WB he may even succeed in blocking the merge if he brings out the the red tape then Netflix is fucked they will be stuck in court for YEARS to come.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0tp4oFSKoQThe show is just getting started ready the popcorn anons.
>>151607232I'm pretty sure various unions are also suing Netflix to stop this from happening
>>151607232>1)Paramount is preparing a hostile takeover over WBNo shareholder would ever back a dubious offer from Paramount, a low value buyer struggling to triage its own failing worth, over fucking Netflix, a company with significant, stable growth, the money to back purchases and media market share that only fucking Amazon can compete with.
>>151607354Trump is a different matter however he could block the merger and my gut tells me he will do that and succeeded.
>>151606254>>151606468I was so fucking happy when Fatal Five came out and the JLU intro started
Warner bros owns dc universe, hanna barbera, loony toons, cartoon network, and adult swim. They have to make something from that or its a waste. i expect new scooby doo and loony tunes shows as well
>>151606254>>151606429A new DC Animated universe wouldn't be the same. It's why the Tomorrowverse wasn't the same. And the thing that allegedly WAS trying to be the same, Justice League Action, wasn't either.Even though JLA was green-lit as this, it was shorter, forced by Johns to be tied to his Nu52 characterizations and canon, and forced to be more DCSHG/TTG in look and feel, versus more B-TBAB or DCAU in look and feel.>>151606468NF will definitely be up for exploiting the IP. It remains more popular on their site when it's there, than any Marvel animation. Even at the height of the MCU craze, DCAU was more popular toon-wise. And it beats the pants off any of the original series action/comedy/adventure animation NF has tried to launch, just to cancel after one or two seasons.
They got to let Bruce Timm make his Justice League Beyond show. You can tell he was forced to make the Caped Crusader.
>>151607378>>151607232Orange Jesus is just as likely to die in office or become even more of a sleepy vegetable puppet-ed by this season's Bannon: Wiles, Cocaine Don, Vance or anyone else able to con him the way so many others have. He'll either be dead or gone in 24 to 36 or so months. If you think Netflix can't wait him or fucking Skydance, you are clueless.
>>151606254DCAU won't come back without Kevin Conroy and since he passed away, it won't.
>>151608782DC should make a beyond universe event, it would be dc's equivalent of marvel 2099
>>151608811It would be a complete reboot I imagine. They already have the Caped Crusader thing, though it's entirely forgettable. No need to keep trying to force the everything is connected bullshit.
>>151606254Didn't Netflix recently shitcan their entire animation department?
>>151609601They have a new animation department now
>>151606572Isn't the monkey's paw a story about delusion, suggestibility, or even a cautionary tale about excessive greed? How did people start thinking it worked on genie rules? IIRC, all the old people in the story become old again and are just embarrassed by their own actions by the end of it.
>>151608606I just want all the shows and movies come to NF
>>151608606>the thing that allegedly WAS trying to be the same, Justice League Action, wasn't either.>Even though JLA was green-lit as thisThis is like saying Teen Titans Go was trying to be 2003 Teen Titans. JLA was greenlisted and announced as a fast passed action comedy. The show didn't try to be a new DCAU Justice League. And honestly, JLA is more entertaining than most of the Justice League.
>>151606254The real question is what will they do with the comics? If Netflix is already iffy on theatrical stuff what makes people think they'll keep making physical comics
>>151607232About that
Conroy is gone and considering how central Batman was to any DCAU stuff, I’d say zero
>>151607232Nope, Netflix CEO had a two hour meeting with Trump before it got announced and apparently worked out something for it to be approvedThey might have to get rid of some things or make some concessions (I have a suspicion they will require the sale of Hbo + Hbo Max for it to go through) but it will happenhttps://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/ted-sarandos-donald-trump-netflix-warner-bros-deal-1236443019/
>>151608811...unless they do something featuring their less-popular heroes, and since these less-popular heroes aren't moneymakers, and WBN is way too risk-aversive in the realms of telly and theatreship, well...
>>151606254How likely is it that the company that axed all of their animation would create a complete set of animated shows? Probably not very.
>>151606254High, because they love subverting perfectly fine old media
>>151606254Isn’t DC already trying this? As long as people keep watching MAWS and the upcoming Jessica Cruz show, I think they might lead to a new Justice League
>>151610233Were they just cleaning out the house.
>>151606254Nah, I rather have a shared universe that's just located on an earth dubbed as Earth-69
>>151606254Higher than the chances.of it being good
>>151616188>dead maws>Jessica whuzRight so what should they try for the new universe?
>>151613510LMAO
>>151616188fuck no, i don't mind jessica being on the JL but the MAWS universe is not the place to do it
>>151616674After Green Lantern i’d do:>Flash>Blue (Ted Kord) & Gold, featuring Hawkman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Aquaman>My Adventures with Batman, with the occasional World’s Finest team up>Wonder Woman
>>151606254i cannot imagine cancelfix would put that much effort into making a new animated universe.
>>151608782>Caped CrusaderI genuinely forgot that show existed and it's only known thing is the outrage of female Cobblepot.
>>151608782Forced? Nah, Timm’s just washed up and has been for years.
>>151606254Correct me if I'm wrong but I though cartoon network and adult swim were NOT on the Netflix side of this deal.
>>151606254Oh yeah, DC animation by Netflix, Young Justice season 4 will look good in comparison.
>>151619523No but their IPs are.
>>151619775I'm more confused now than when I started. And this reminds me of the "send the rocket with the losers into the sun" episode of the simpsons.
>>151611271The fuck are you talking about? There's no "old people" in the original Monkey's Paw short story. Mr. White's wish for money causes his son to die in an accident and he gets a check for wrongful death. Then he wishes his son back to life, but he comes back as a mutilated zombie. Monkey's Paw has always been a cautionary tale of being careful what you wish for.
>>151606524>government blocks netflix merger because of anti-trust laws>paramount gets WB instead>paramount is part owned by arabs who love snydershit>snyder yeets gunn out of DC and completes his JL trilogyNot saying I want it to happen, but it would be the funniest scenario.
>>151613802>>151613510He just said today that the merger is going to go through a review process by the federal government.>They might have to get rid of some things or make some concessionsIt will be cutting ties with Obama's production company and removing Susan Rice from their board of directors.>>151608802Your TDS is cringe and gay and is affecting your judgement on how multiple factions are working against this merger that have nothing to do with the president. Virtually all of Hollywood is in an uproar about it.
>>151608782Gender-swappong Penguin was 100% Timm's idea.
>>151606254Zero
>>151606254I dream of a world where the DCAU comes back and adapts all the good stories that happened after it ended. Especially the Green Lantern stuff since he got shafted.
I hated the Killing Joke movie. why would I want the DCAU back after this abomination?
>>151620895Oh
>>151607258Which unions?
>>151606254Yes this latest desperate corporate reshuffle to squeeze a little more cash out of a dying system will make all your dreams come true.
>>151611271You are thinking of the Comet story.
>>151622626Yay! :D
>>1516062540 percent chance
>>151606254Are you fucking serious, OP? You should hope they DON'T do that, because if they do they'll screw it up beyond your wildest imaginings.
>>151623590Don’t be such a nihilist. It wasn’t Netflix that gender bent the Penguin
>>151622621So I looked it up and it was WGA who was the most vocally against this so far but nobody is suing yet afaik
>>151606468tomorrowverse deserved more respect
>>151606254somewhat likely
>>151624111I unironically think we can only go up from there.
>>151606500It already is in plenty countries.
>>151626877Like?
>>151607378trump already gave a "its whatever as long as they give me money" answer. he doesn't care as long as he gets something out of this.
>>151625231It’s weird how fast that universe folded they got what three movies before the crisis trilogy?
>>151628194yep, pretty sure there were more, but it sucks how rushed it was
>>151606254How much of a chances do we have?
>>151607232Netflix only needs to give him some golden thing with his name on it and Don would bless the acquisition. Or even promise to make some movie that he loves
>>151616188>>151617131Fuck no, that would take a decade. Unless the are willing to move from Studio Mir because they are currently with a very clogged pipe production of other series and outsourced work.
>>151606254Not particularly likely but it would be nice to actually HAVE the whole DCAU on netflix. Right now all that's available is the first seasons of BTAS and Justice League respectively.
>>151606468They are but with Kevin Conroy having died 3 years ago, what would even be the point of reviving the DCAU outside of a Superman TAS movie or Zeta Project Season 3?>>151608811Any DCAU comeback would only occur as comics/graphic novels.>>151616188They are doing that. But only time will tell if they succeed at it.
>>151632067It would be fantastic to have the entire DCAU on Netflix. As well as the 2 revival movies.
I feel like they'll fuck it up. DCAU worked in part because it wasn't planned it just kind of happened. They made a Batman show to cash in on Returns, it was a huge hit in part because it aired on Fox Kids at it's peak alongside Power Rangers and X-Men TAS so even kids not into Batman would give it a watch, then the same people made an initially unrelated Superman cartoon a few years later, and on a whim when they decided they wanted Batman to show up they used the designs and VAs of the previous show, his appearance brought more hype to the older Batman cartoon so it aired again with some new episodes added to the mix and the shows were officially connected. Then it spiraled from there, and eventually we got other shows culminating in Justice League. If they do it now they'll be planning on multiple shows and Justice League from the start and they'll probably fuck it up. Which is DC's problem in a nutshell since the movies because they weren't patient like Marvel initially was.
>>151606254Depends on how good the shows do on Netflix if they put them all up there.
>>151619929Netflix basically wants the right side of the image, Paramount wants all.
>>151606254Hope not. They're going to be shit.
>>151619775So what will CN/AS air once their IPs are gone?
>>151606254I just don't know if I trust Timm anymore. I thought Fatal Five as good, but Harley and Killing Joke were shit.
>>151606254100%
