It didn't interrupt the pacing for a flashback to show Zara learning how to make wards.If this was a competent comic and not a drawn out patreon scheme, I'd suspect Noa might have a power or disposition relevant to the endgame so having focus on her is a way to set that up. But this is Gunnerkrigg Court so we're going to get 12 pages of her life story over the next four weeks before she jobs to Parley and falls out of the plot.

Two Annies was peak. Omega was an attempt to regain the peak after it was lost. Now it's just sisyphean garbage. I am absolutely convinced and no one can argue me from this position that Tom is clinically depressed and hates his own work and is just writing shit on purpose. I could tolerate Omega being "killed" because in this fantasy universe with its commonly light tone that doesn't necessary mean the end of things but the fact that he immediately went to "nope deleted into the ether and recycle bin emptied, disk space reclaimed" within 1 page with scarcely a line of dialogue between them is literal outright deliberate evil. There were still a hundred potential plot point and character arc balls in the air and nope deleted so we could rush to generic >iN mEdIa rEs slop garbage like Tom would rather be directing an episode of Kim Possible. Utterly disposable.
