Does "wearing the trunks outside the pants" look still has a place in modern superhero media or it's a silly and outdated look that should be left behind?
>>
No one but stunted manchildren will tell you this deserves to exist today.
>>
>>151624211
I like it for the color break-up but I still think it looks goofy.
>>
>>151624223
It’s based, deal with it,
>>
>>151624211
It looks sexy on Helen and Violet so it's good in my book.
>>
>>151624211
I mean if they did an outer bra for the women you'd like it.
>>
>>151624223
only snyderjeets hate trunks. if you don’t like superman with the trunks, you don’t understand superman. it’s not really something that’s up for debate.
>>
>>151624211
"20 years ago" is never modern

>snyder
O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D

who cares

Incredibles 3 will come out in a couple of years, and this thread apply to superheroes in general

>using characters from something that takes place in the 60s as an example
>>
Nobody actually gives a fuck, all that matters is if it looks natural to the audience.
>>
>>151624460
It was dated even in the 60's, Stan Lee was making fun of "wearing underwear on the outside" back then
>>
>>151624211
Nothing wrong here.
>>
>>151624503
Is this another case of "classic cliché has been parodied more often than played straight because it fell out of favor a long time ago, or has never that popular to begin with it".
>>
>>151624446
And it will take place 0.00000000 seconds after 2 so we can have a 45 minute long baby jakjak sequence
Yay!
More cgi baby redoing all the jokes from the fake cartoon in the beginning of "who framed roger rabbit".
Who wants to see characters grow uo, change, and overcome their obstscles to become great?
If the mask 2 proved anything its audiences want cgi babies.

>>151624410
>didn’t deny the snyderjeet allegation
saar…
>>
>>151624397
It kind of is now. We've been in stasis for the last 15 years or so
>>
>>151624223
>>151624309
You're clearly one of them so shut the fuck up. Who are you trying to impress?
>>
(Separated by a common language. Over here "pants" is the underwear. Trunks are for swimming in as neither underear or overwear but sole-wear.)

I've never really thought about them as 'underwear on the outside', despite the obvious and recurring jokes about them. Instead their different coloured area is just a particular section of the trousers (or even 'unitard' suit) that's uses different coloured panels (as a sub-component or just printed that way on the raw material panels).

The "underwear over overwear" look is just as traditional as the "logo on the chest" bit, not a sign of what is being worn next to the skin (or not), with generic and normal panties/budgy-smugglers, string vests and/or longjohns being worn underneath the whole thing for all we know.

Superman is lame though
>>
>>151624211
It accentuates the groin so it works fine on women but sparks gay panic in men if it clashes to much.

Trunks are probably the single strongest communicator that the character you’re looking at is a superhero. Despite colloquially being known as capes, many other fantasy/scifi/historical characters where capes. From a design perspective it helps break up the color and, in live action, helps cover up the actor’s bulge. Throwing it out smacks of boardroom design mentality, appealing to the lowest common denominator.
>>
>>151624211
Does anyone except Superman himself still do this unironically anyway, the only times I see this look are in comedies and gay porn
>>
>>151627068
I thought Batman and Robin did it too
>>
>>151624211
Caring about what's "silly" and "outdated" for superheroes is an inherently manchild mentality. Superheroes are silly by design. You can't divorce them from that. Either accept it or move on.

Batman does robin hasn't since Jason
