It certainly understood the assignment of making a comic book game. Most try to hard to be something serious but it's clear the Neversoft team wanted the game to have the spirit of a 70s/80s comic.

That game set the bar. Arkham is a solid runner up though.

The way Peter's dilemma was adapted into video game form was pretty clever.

The Neversoft jingle went hard, and the What If mode was amusing as all hell. Plus all the extra suits.

Nothing beats this in terms of pure comic book translated into a videogame experience for me

Never played a single 3D game that wasn't a corridor based TPS, eh?
>>

I loved all the old Spider-Man games but haven’t played them since they were newish. I tried the Insomniac game at a friend’s house and found the swinging inferior to what I remembered from the older games. Am I misremembering or was the new one really shitter?
>>
>>151627464
The latter. In a way it's understandable since the guy responsible actually patented SM2 swinging and they legally have to be different, but yeah, it's shit.
>>
>>151627464
The swinging in the insomniac game was momentum based, which means you keep going based on the amount of swings you can chain but the game autocorrects if you hit something. The SM2 swinging was physics based so you were only as fast as you were skilled at the inputs and placement of the character on screen. I played through the game before buying a ps4 for the insomniac game, and no I didn’t buy a ps5 for the second once because I didn’t want to deal with playing as miles, but even I was surprised by how much the game shat on peter as a character to build up miles

Spidey! You da man!
>>
>>151627401
The PC version was notoriously shit. It's why everyone who recommends the game says to avoid that version specifically.
>>
>>151627375
The running away from monster ock? What’s wrong with it? It focuses on the seen swinging mechanic as a final challenge, what else would you want out of a spidey game ending?

Arkham asylum
Arkham city
Arkham knight.
