Rewatched it recently and it’s a solid 7.5/10. The biggest issue is the pacing, too much time spent bringing the characters back together, not enough on them actually interacting once they do. A lot of them feel superfluous as a result, particularly Kumail Nanjiani and the speedster (though she makes it up by getting probably the best fight scene in the movie).

But it’s got some beautiful shots, interesting performances, creative visualization of the Celestial tech and the power cosmic, some of Marvel’s best post-Endgame SFX, a different approach to action scenes which I appreciate, and some interesting character beats and moral dilemmas. I say it’s due for a reappraisal, and I’d watch a sequel to wrap up the loose ends.

it is underrated but also the bad aspects are unforgiveable
>race and gender swapping for no reason, shitting on Kirby's designs and characters
>Deviants are dindunoffin good guys so basically theres no villain so the movie is just infighting
>gay couple and kiss, the secret architects of humanity are heckin progressive bro
>the leader is a matriarch cus progress lmao
>make the already gender swapped girl deaf because...?
>ONE fight scene with a deviant and its over in 20 seconds
>sequel bait with eros and pip infinitly more interesting than acctual movies plot
>whole team isnt even in finale

I'd been watching through MCU but took a break for a while. Has there been any references to the Celestial corpse? Or has every other MCU project completely ignored it?

The worse is that the only fucking reason to do the story is to set up the Gatherers and Proctor, which is the original Avengers multiverse story AND one that would appeal to the woketards at Disney, given that it's entire premise is evil Incel Black Knight wants to destroy the multiverse because Sersi dumped him and has gathered an army of alt earth Avengers to help him kill every version of Sersi in the multiverse and him killing off every Earth he did so on, to cover his tracks and making it look like the Avengers are destined to destroy Earth.

The Eternals has been memoryholed. It feels like the post-mortem era officially starts at Loki.

The Captain America movie has it in the film as being a big deal, but that movie is also going to have 0 fucking consequences or callbacks outside of Harrison Ford so essentially no.

kinda hilarious that it was all pointless then cus thats definitely not happening. I would however like to see Adam Warlock and the infinity watch but again that seems unlikely now

Did you even watch the movie, bro?

It was a terrible fucking fit for the MCU.

It's my guilty pleasure. I would love for Eternals Animated Series with these designs.

But only a handful of the Gathers actually resembled existing Avengers. Seems easier to just give Proctor's bits to someone else and adapt a different story.

The big reveal is that the Eternals are actually, to simplify things, pest control robots. Why do they need human suits, personalities, and the abilities to love and have sex in order to be pest control robots? Why do the Celestials lie to them about them being pest control robots? Just tell them "You are pest control robots designed to kill Deviants. Now... go out there and do that. Good luck!" Lying to them about their true selves serve no other purpose than pissing them off when they find out.

And why would the Celestials want the Eternals to stay out of the fight with Thanos? Celestials are born once a planet acquires enough life forms on it. Thanos' whole MO was to kill half of all planets' life forms. Thanos should've been the Celestials' and the Eternals' #1 target.

>this movie is pretty good
>except for all the ways that it's really bad and fails to be entertaining, memorable, likable, interesting, or exciting.
So it's bad then?
