Matt's art probably makes him more valuable overall, but for just writing John has had a huge volume of consistent quality for over 50 years while Matt chose his spots more. John ended up with Dredd and History of Violence being made into movies. John looks like he would fit in more here also.

I appreciate Wagner developing his skills and all, but even the interiors remain kinda wonky for how good a painter and designer he is. He seems like a good guy but judging from his cartoonist Kayfabe interview I don't think he had the emotional intellect and ability to grasp what he's attempting to do so it all comes off as very basic and surface level. I wouldn't call him an idiot but the gap between his kinda surface level personality and his art skills makes him seem more like a savant than an auteur that he was built up as.
