How come even the most mediocre and short-lived Nicktoons were talked about online more than the most popular Discovery Kids shows? For example, nobody online really cared about The X's, but it got a decent amount of discussion online during its first episode, while a show like Time Warp Trio, which came out around the same time was barely discussed online
The only thing I remember is that flash game where you kit out your gun and shoot zoo animals
>>151637221Discovery kids had cartoons?
>>151637221Less people had discovery kids & discovery kids had a dumb schedule iirc
Trudy is my waifu
>>151637294Discovery Kids had a block on NBC and how did Discovery Kids have a dumb schedule? The reason I've been making so many threads about Discovery Kids lately is because I've been trying to figure out why Discovery Kids was hardly ever discussed online back in the 2000s. Even The Hub got discussed more than Discovery Kids and that channel only lasted 4 years and was arguably more premium than Discovery Kids since atleast DK had a block on NBC. Atleast The Hub had shows like Dan Vs and Aquabats that while niche, had small fanbases and it had Transformers Prime, which did get discussed online as well. Discovery Kids shows didn't even have small fanbases
>>151637260They had a handful of cartoons. Not counting the stuff that only aired during the preschool block Ready Set Learn, Discovery Kids had 8 cartoons. Kenny the Shark, Tutenstein, The Magic School Bus, Tracey McBean, Time Warp Trio, Growing Up Creepie, Grossology, and The Future is Wild. Out of those 8, The Magic School Bus was by far the most well known of them, because it was a common show to be played in school
>>151637221>Incredibles ripoff
>>151637221Anybody?
>>151637221I would like to know
>>151637221Why did The Hub get discussed more than Discovery Kids? The Hub was such a financial failure that it only lasted 4 years and stopped greenlighting shows for the most part after the first year (the last Hasbro series to premiere on The Hub was Littlest Pet Shop in November 2012 and that was already planned as early as spring 2011) and yet, The Hub had more discussion than Discovery Kids ever did. Even a show like Dan Vs got discussed more than DK's shows and Dan Vs was niche, but atleast that show had a small fandom
>>151637260Point made.
>>151637221Pretty much all I remember was the bad guy getting absolutely crushed in bowling and then asking if it's like golf
Kids don't like educational shows, or shows that they assume will be educational.
>>151637221Honestly anon, they simply weren't as memorable. I'm saying this as a kid who used to watch ALL the channels. Yeah, I remember some of Kenny the Shark, Tutenstein, and Time Warp Trio, but I just never got as interested in those as I did other cartoons. They never really had a "hook" to them. They felt "fake". Discovery's shows were like PBS but worse. As a kid, any given time, I could watch another channel and get something more entertaining.Discovery Kids was fighting for the saturday morning time block, and I was always more interested in the shows on 4Kids or KidsWB.As for discussion? Again, I just don't think they clicked as much. They're such flat shows, there's really nothing to say. And the Hub getting more discussion than Discovery Kids makes sense. Think about it in the context of recency (I know it's not recent recent, but the internet and discussion in general was getting livier) also a certain magical show about horses aired on that channel.
>>151637221Streaming killed the hype for everything.
>>151638993That makes sense and I've also thought that the fact that Transformers Prime being part of a famous and beloved franchise also played a part in why The Hub was discussed more >>151638965That Horse Show was considered educational with it having a lesson each episode and that show was huge on the Internet in 2012
>>151637221Love the way this show looked, it's so stylish
>>151639747>That Horse Show was considered educational with it having a lesson each episode and that show was huge on the Internet in 2012I mean educational as in the kind of thing a burnt out substitute teacher would show in class.
>>151637316The show is so obscure that no one even knows that Tucker and Trudy aren't even official names for Mr and Mrs X. They were fanon
R.I.P. Truman's voice actor1994-2023
>>151639807>Hayden Panettiere's brotherwow, rip
>>151639769That makes sense. Schoolhouse Rock seemed to be beloved and that was something that was often shown in schools. Magic School Bus seemed to be beloved enough that Carlos became a meme on /co/
>>151637221I was surprised to find out the show's voice cast, with Joe Swanson/Kronk/Brock Samson as Mr. X, Klaus Heissler/Numbah 4/Perry the Platypus/the Clone Trooper as Rex X, and Bill Dauterive as Home Base. The show itself was surprisingly fun, despite the animation not holding up well as its visuals were a product of the mid-00s. Otherwise, still comedy gold
>>151637221Also, how come Squirrel Boy got quite a bit of discussion on Toonzone during the first episode? It was so bland and dull and it was not liked online even back then, yet it got discussed during the first episodeDid people just pay more attention to the channel that aired Squirrel Boy than Discovery Kids?
>>151637337>he Magic School Bus was by far the most well known of them, because it was a common show to be played in schoolNo, retard. It was the most well known of them because it predated Discovery Kids by like a decade.
>>151637221What made The Hub considered a better channel by many than Discovery Kids? What exactly about The Hub did people online like more than Discovery Kids?
>>151641398Voldemort
>>151639807wtf
>>151637221Well?
Anyone?
>>151637221>nobody online really cared about The X'sThat's because I was 12 and didn't have access to forums yet I LOVED this show and would even watch the reruns religiously just to notice new detailsThe Sasquatch guy was my favorite
>>151637221Why did The Hub get more praise than Discovery Kids online? Even before The Hub even launched, people were so excited for it online. Even during the first week or month of The Hub when The Horse Show hadn't made it's way everywhere on the Internet, people were praising The Hub. Why was that? Is it because it had old reruns of Batman Beyond?
>>151642840I never even heard of Discovery Kids. Was this a channel outside the US?
>>151642085>>151642557People are busy dude
>>151637221I remember Nicktoons would still air this show in behind the scenes commercials years after they canned it.
>>151643274Discovery Kids did have a channel in the US on premium cable. It also had a saturday morning block on NBC for a few years
>>151638929>Why did The Hub get discussed more than Discovery Kids?Bronies.Aside from one example, Shows that aired on DK was nothing to go home and write about it, they're basically episodic and nothing more.
>>151637317I'm sure I'd heard of Discovery Kids before today, but I can't recall a specific memory of it. I'm not fully convinced it existed before the last timeline jump.
>>151637221The Xs was an Incredibles rip-off that transcended its origins on account of every character being a psychopath and the mom being voiced by that one lady.
>>151637316Tuesday is mine
>>151642632he was voiced by Randy Savage
>>151637900>>151644330There are actual reasons to hate on The X's but /co/ always goes with the laziest one

>>151637294If you had money you were a Nickelodeon/Disney/CN kid, if you were poor you were a PBS kid, if you were a Discovery Kid/Qubo/Nicktoons kid it's because you were flipping through channels
>>151648356and yet, for some reason, the Nicktoons channel was discussed more than Discovery Kids on forumsToon Disney was discussed more than Discovery Kids on forumsEven Boomerang was discussed more than Discovery Kids and Boomerang was the most stale, dull, and worst network of them all
>>151637221Anyone?
>>151638941Lmao same for me
>>151637221Is it a hot take that I think Discovery Kids was a more educational channel than Nick, Disney, and CN?

>>151637221Why did The X's get more discussion in its first episode on Toonzone than Kenny the Shark ever did

>>151647705I got some Tuesday
>>151637221So how come more people knew about The X's than the Discovery Kids stuff even though The X's was mediocre and forgotten quickly?
>>151652672Not what I asked for but I do think her design is fun
>not even OP has brought up a single show from said time block I have literally no idea what you're talking about and wasn't poor enough to watch not cable as a kid even if I did.
>>151654940There were only 3 Discovery Kids on NBC cartoons. Kenny the Shark, Tutenstein, and Time Warp Trio. They were all made specifically for the NBC block, with reruns airing on the Discovery Kids channel (though once the NBC block became defunct, new episodes of Tutenstein would move over to the Discovery Kids channel, while Kenny and Time Warp had ended by the time the NBC block ended, so they only continued on the Discovery Kids channel in reruns)
