It's so funny that there are people who think that the show that has been on a decline for the last 10 years only just suddenly got bad this season. There is not a goddamn thing different about this season vs. the last 3 or 4 they've done besides one very obvious thing, so you should've already had this opinion. The only reason to think this season is any worse than the last handful is if you're mad about that one thing. They are not suddenly beating a dead horse with one main joke per episode, they've been doing that since at least 2015.

Keep in mind that before this season Matt & Trey were on record saying they hate writing Trump jokes. They repeatedly said they don't plan to do more Trump jokes but they kept doing it anyway because it's easy lazy writing and they just take all their episode ideas from current events.
